Ultracet and tramadol

Common Questions and Answers about Ultracet and tramadol

ultracet

Avatar m tn I believe Ultram and Ultracet are the same. It is 37.5 tramadol and whatever of acetaminophen. I had the generic of Ultracet (have the bottle right in front of me) it is broke down as aceetaminophen and 37.5 tramadol. It is entitled tramadol (generic for Ultracet) but it has the acet/tramadol combination. I was then prescribed straight tramadol which is 50mg tramadol with nothing else added. period. If ultram is different than that is news to me.
Avatar f tn If you take 10 ultracet per day you'll be getting 3250 mg of tylenol, the maximum therapeutic dose if 4000 mg per day. So you should make sure you don't exceed the max dose prescribed by your doctor and make sure you don't exceed 4000 mg per day and I would recommend getting your liver checked also here and there. Here is an old thread talking about the differences between Ultram (which is just tramadol) vs. Ultracet (which is lower dose tram with added acet).
Avatar m tn I just came home from wally world, talked to the pharmisitist, $56 for Ultracet they said take tramadol and tylnnol, its the same thing, and you can get tram for $8 a script, And ultacet has 37.5mg of tram and tramold has 50mg, so I think I will tuff it out and see what PT dose it has helped with pain in the past. Man drug co. are tricky.
Avatar f tn s amazing to me that there are still doctors out there telling people that Tramadol is not addictive. Ultracet is Tramadol and Acetaminophen. Your husband is a WISE man to question this before he takes it! Congrats to him on 7 yrs Clean!!! If he is able to tolerate NSAIDS, he could take those or just acetaminophen (w/o the synthetic opioid, i.e. tramadol). I find that Advil Liqui-Gel Capsules work the best for me and there are generic versions of this too at Walmart or Walgreens.
Avatar f tn Ultracet is Tramadol and acetaminophen. Tramadol is highly addictive and a bear to quit. Those on Tramadol should taper off of it. It is a synthetic opiate. Most here would not recommend it for w/d.
Avatar f tn It is recommended that patients physically dependent on pain killers take their medication regularly to prevent onset of withdrawal symptoms and this is particularly relevant to tramadol because of its SSRI and SNRI properties, and, when the time comes to discontinue their tramadol, to do so gradually over a period of time that will vary according to the individual patient and dose and length of time on the drug.
Avatar n tn that is about 8 a day and tramadol is a weak pain killer but very addiction...2 weeks may not be long enuf to get addicted...tramadol is supposed to be tapered slowly if u r addicted to it....it may be the cause of the tummy stuff...does he have the runs? are u sure he doesnt take other stuff that u dont know about?
Avatar m tn lesa May 26, 2010 — The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced yesterday that it has added a warning of suicide risk to the labels of tramadol hydrochloride (Ultram) and tramadol hydrochloride/acetaminophen (Ultracet).
Avatar n tn I take tramadol for pain in my neck and back. Since I started I have been constipated. Does tramadol cause this? I try to go without laxatives but when I get to the 6th day, I am so uncomfortable that I resort to the laxative. Is this safe for me to do? I have tried metamucil, fruit, stool softeners etc. Nothing works except enema's or stimulant laxatives.
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia, degenerative disk disease, and cervical disk pain from previous cervical surgeries. Up until 2 weeks ago, I was taking Effexor XR daily, and Zanaflex and Ultracet 37.5, as needed. 2 weeks ago my cervical disk started going haywire with pain. I upped my Ultracet to 3 a day as prescribed and started taking the Zanaflex to the maximum dosage too. This did not faze the pain.
Avatar f tn Hi Mom, I was addicted to Tramadol for 18 months, with 9+ months of daily abuse. I am still learning about it and am a Vet, having Rx'd it for my own patients. The short of it is, it IS addictive and do NOT believe ANYone telling you it is not. I believe that you have an addiction if you revolve your days and thoughts about when your next dose is, if you get excited to take it, if you seek it out and start doing things you normally would not to get it, things like that.
Avatar f tn m not trying to worry you, just let you know that tramadol needs to be used responsibly. best of luck to you and your son, please ask more questions if you need to.
Avatar m tn Ultram is nothing more than the Brand name for Tramadol and Ultram ER is a timed release of Tramadol. Ultracet is merely Tramdol and Tylenol in the same pill.
Avatar f tn I just got back from the dr. and he gave me a script for ultracet....I dont know anything about this drug...He said it was in the same family as vicoden...which now has me worried ..I dont want to go from one addiction to another...Is this drug like vicoden? Is it addicting?? Please help! Thank you for any input anyone may have.
Avatar f tn ultracet has acetominophen (tylenol) in them, and the tramadol doesnt. They can come in varying dosages. Why is he taking them? Does he want to quit? Tram is a dangerous drug to take and to stop, you have to taper down slowly or you could have seizures. You can have seizures from takign too many as well. How long has he been on them?
Avatar n tn Is there a formula for weaning yourself off ultracet? Am taking 5-6 a day for 3 years. What can I expect?
Avatar n tn I am a music minister in an Evangelical Bible Church and have just had my second back surgery. My back feels great! I had unbearable pain for only a year (not much compared to some of the posters on here (7+ years of back pain, how do you do it?)). Throughout my year of pain, my doctor prescribed me hydrocodone (from 5's to eventually 10's) and tramadol 50mg (which I took with tylenol 50/500 - making it basically generic ultracet).
Avatar n tn Tramadol/ultram/ultracet (ultracet having tylenol in it) is habit-forming and not recommended for people with prior addictions...it was originally advertised as not being habit forming but it affects the same receptors as narcotics do...tram also has an antidepressant componenet which makes wd even more difficult due to the depression factor during detox...it is supposedly not "as" habit forming as other narcotics like hydrocodone or oxycodone if taken as prescribed...
Avatar f tn I am new to this group and want to know what are normal and abnormal symptoms of withdrawl from tramadol / ultracet. My history is this. I was having severe chronic pain. My doctors at first did not believe me but eventually it was discovered that I had Fibro Myalgia Rheumatic (FMR). Fine, then my rheumatologist gave me the ultracet max 8 a day. After a couple years he cut me loose to have my PCP do the honors as it were. My PCP nearly fainted when he saw how much I was allowed.
Avatar f tn Yes stomach and intestinal issues are possible side effects. Have you consulted your doctor? What dose are you on? Do you take as prescribed?
Avatar m tn is tramadol ultram and ultracet all the same an is it as the phramiscits see it non norcotic?
Avatar f tn I just would like to know that if I keep taking this tramadol will it make me feel the same way? I am a SAHM with 3 kids 6,5 and 4 months so I am alone with them alot and it would be scary if something like a seizure were to happen. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
