Avatar n tn Does anyone else have type 2 diabetes with pregnancy? I'm not eating a ton of carbs but my numbers are still on the high side.
Tbd However, the best foods to eat for health are plenty of vegetables - of all types and ideally with lots of variety, some fruits, healthy unprocessed and naturally occurring fats from dairy, nuts, animal fats, proteins (eggs, fish, nuts, meat). Alcohol is generally ok for most in moderation. Grains, sweets and processed foods should be eaten in moderation, if at all. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I have recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, my fasting blood sugar was 175. I am sure that these are on the higher side of the scale. My doctor adviced me to go retest after 2 weeks of exercise and strict diet control. Hence i completely changed my diet, no sugar, substantial decrease of carbs, relying on vegetables and sprouts or protein contents with additon to the 5-6 KM of walking. After two weeks when i went on re test, it was 140 on fasting. I have not used any medicine.
Avatar n tn I too control my type 2 bu diet only. When I first launched into this new lifestyle I was faced with all of this information to digest; A1C, BG's, when to test, liver dumps, glycemic index, etc, etc, etc. I decided to simplify it. I cut out all the "white stuff". I shunned anything white or anything made with white stuff; no flour, pasta, sugar, rice, potatoes, bread, etc. My weight plunged, and my blood glucose levels plunged.
8369322 tn?1397826669 I think the key to my success was while I loved things like rice with a big pat of butter, or angle hair pasta with fresh garlic and olive oil, I also really dug cheese, and nuts, and dried sausages. The new diet really wasn't that bad. Try it and see, you've got nothing to lose. If it doesn't work for you, you've obviously have other options. But GET A METER and test, and exercise like you're life depends on it.
Avatar n tn Some people are able to control Type 2 diabetes with losing and maintaining healthy weight, lowering carb intake and regular exercise. Some are not, and need medication. It is impossible to answer your question because every diabetic is different and it would depend on how high your numbers were to begin with and what you ate and did. Serious consequences (complications) from diabetes don't occur in 24 hours, they occur over time spent at high numbers.
Avatar m tn i have type 2 diabetes and take metformin. i am trying to lose weight by doing the 2 meal replacement shakes from herbalife. is herbalife bad or good for type 2 diabetes. i drank a shake this morning for breakfast and then tested my blood sugar it was 170 and the night before when i went to bed it was 110. i'm also working out trying to lose weight. does herbalife meal replacement shakes raise your blood sugar, therefore bad for type 2 diabetes ?
Avatar n tn The sedentary life-style and increase in obesity has led to this increase in both children and adults. Nearly one third of the 16 millions Americans with Type 2 diabetes do not know that they have it. There are approximately 16 million more Americans with "pre-Type 2". With lifestyle changes such as weight loss and exercise, some people with Type 2 diabetes can restore their normal blood sugars, requiring no medications.
Avatar f tn weight loss and increased physical activity is directly related to improved diabetes control. To help Americans fight the dramatic increase in type 2 diabetes, Joslin Diabetes Center has crafted new nutrition and physical activity guidelines for overweight and obese individuals with type 2 diabetes and those at risk for developing diabetes (pre-diabetes).
Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but a mom of a type one and the daughter of a type 2. In a type one diabetic commonly called Juvenile diabetes( because it usually is diagnoses in children , but I know people that were in they 30's and 40's and were diagnosed) is when the body stop s producing insulin. Type 2 diabetics your body still produces insulin, but cannot use it properly use the insulin without help of medication.

5051252 tn?1362970368 i was talking to a friend regarding her diabetes type two, and she said she found out she had this by using a glucose monitor a few times a day for a week, reported her readings to her doctor and they did tests and diagnosed her. she said that her glucose levels were super high, so i decided to buy one just to try and see. i check myself three times a day - and the readings are normally around 80-90 every time, and sometimes that is about 30-60 minutes after eating. should i be concerned?
