Avatar n tn Furthermore, you may find some encouragement in meeting other type 1 diabetic people in your area and knowing that you are not alone in this. Many parents of type 1 children notice that their kids are irritable or depressed when their glucose levels are out of whack, so part of your problem may actually be that your glucose is not under control. Which makes you go into guilty denial and not take your insulin, which makes the glucose levels go even more out of control.

Avatar f tn It is slowly progressive . the type of disease I have can occur in non-obese patients, or patients that are slightly overweight can become obese. there is no cure or treatment for this disease. any advanced treatment are happening in sweden, and UK. one is IV lidocaine therapy which non of the doctors I know use this treatment even those it is considered the best treatment out so far.
Avatar n tn And that type of seizure does not cause a change in consciousness according to this one website. A seizure is a charge of sudden electrical activity in the brain that affects a way a person feels or acts for a short time. This makes sense in light of what I had learned about the neural-misfiring from my EEG. Another clue is the Tachycardia. Tachycardia often precedes a seizure and frequently persists throughout a seizure.

Avatar n tn About 48 hours ago, I noticed this heat sensation in my left shin. At first I thought I was standing too close to a heat vent in the floor at work! It is a warm, sort of tingly sensation that lasts 5 seconds and occurs, I don't know, 10 times throughout the day. I wonder if I slept on the leg funny?? Stress?? I am 43 and in reasonably good health but seem to be a hypochondriac (spelling?) at times.
Avatar f tn Reglan (metoclopromadine) is a very cheap medication, unfortunately, it is also metabolized in the kidneys, so a too high dose results in toxic levels in the blood. My husband and I discovered that completely bypassing the GI tract by using reglan injections worked much better in the end. Chica didn't get the extra pyramidal side effects (extreme restlessness, shaking and trembling) from the reglan injections that she got from the oral meds.
Avatar n tn From what I've read there is research showing that the Enterovirus have been found in people with Type 1 diabetes but this study was done in children not adults. And two years is way too long for her to be contagious from a virus that last roughly 10 days. But if you are showing signs and symptoms of diabetes I would get that checked out by your family doctor. Do you have a family history of it? Are you obese? do you have any other symptoms?
Avatar n tn same here for months now started with flu like them to lungs, thought I was better after 12 weeks of flu, then the smells in my nose, sinus, lungs?..HORRID and some are very distinct and also some are multiple, some are triggered by certain smells, sometime I smell smoke, exhaust, rancid, just hard to explain, it drives me crazy! ]And my nose will burn also my lips. nothing really smells like it should and most things smell horrible, taste too....
Avatar f tn The result is in the huge increase in type II diabetes seen as epidemic. Interestingly, the developing parts of the world have the biggest epidemic of type II diabetes on their hands while european countries have the least. Americans have a higher rate than Europe, but much less than the developing countries. This squares with Diamond's theory about the lag in our genes to adapt to having food abundantly available.

Avatar m tn This appeared out of the blue in June 2012 (I say out of the blue because I don't take drugs, don't smoke, don't have diabetes, didn't have chemotherapy, and didn't take medicines for long periods of time -besides 1 week of cyprofloxacin in March 2012). I had a sexual exposure in February 2012 with bizarre symptoms exactly 2 weeks later that lead me to think on HIV (a cervical swollen lymph node, neck stiffness and then an urinary track infection), but I tested negative several times.
Avatar m tn reported incidences of hip fractures are highest in the US and Northern Europe; intermediate in Mediterranean and Asian countries, and lowest in South Africa, particularly in the areas where people follow traditional ways of life. There are more fractures among city dwellers than among country folk. Over the past 40 or 50 years, the incidence of hip fractures has risen significantly worldwide.
921323 tn?1268679412 Put the money towards the health costs of the uninsured. Or, use it to fund research in diabetes, heart disease, or any of the other countless complications of obesity. But is it too early to admit defeat? If we had done the same for cholesterol medications or diabetes medications, or even smoking patches and pills, we’d be paying for it in countless ways. So is there something unique about developing medications for obesity?
Avatar dr m tn Oprah’s recent revelation in her magazine that she’s back above the 200 pound threshold made a lot of headlines recently. She was quoted as saying that rather than falling off the wagon, the wagon fell on her. Oprah attributes her weight problem to an ongoing thyroid condition. (Check out the thyroid support community and Ask the doctor thyroid forum on this site for more information about your thyroid.) Ninety percent of women with obstructive sleep apnea in this country are undiagnosed.
Avatar m tn As genotype 4 is relatively rare in North America there are not many members here with such ,however there have been a few. A long time member "Bali" is one who has treated and now cured. You may want to type in his name in "search this community" and go to his profile and leave him a personal message In the meantime I have linked below a very comprehensive article about G 4 and the treatments for such. Good luck with your treatment and welcome to the group..
Avatar m tn You live in North Carolina? Yes, there are probably Planned Parenthoods in your area that do herpes testing, I would think. You could check. Also, you can order testing on line yourself, places like healthcheckusa.com. I think you should be aware that about 50% of Africa Americans between the ages of 14 and 49 have HSV 2 infection, so if you test positive, please don't feel alone. And if you test positive, it doesn't necessarily mean that the tingling is caused by herpes.
529981 tn?1212853666 I also have tried about very type of zinc pyrithione shampoo, at the highest concentrations. Also I have tried, salycylic shampoos, tar shampoos, jojoba oil, AND nothing seems to help. Please help me and my hair. I am a busy college student, who unfortunately does not have the time and money to deal with this.
Avatar f tn I truly appreciate it. I have written to the university in Pretoria in South Africa to ask for assistance. Do you think he could have Lyme disease or perhaps mitochondrial disease. The live blood test showed erichea anaplasmosis as well as coxsackie virus.
5817099 tn?1376924181 Vitamin D actively inhibits the uncontrolled cell growth typical of cancer in most tissues of the body. Adequate Vitamin D reduces risk of Type 2 diabetes and multiple sclerosis. Correcting vitamin D can reduce blood pressure. Testing for vitamin D Make sure your doctor checks your 25-hydroxy vitamin D. Levels below 20 are deficient, 20 - 30 borderline, and 30- 50 healthy. The best month to test? November. If you’re deficient then, you’ll be severely deficient at the end of winter.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you had nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), of which about 30-40% of cases are due to chlamydia. Your doc wasn't exactly right; generally a urine test for chlamydia will be positive within a few days of onset of infection, with or without symptoms. 1) It is common for mild urethral pain to resolve more slowly than discharge. Pain in the crotch (you mean the groin?) is not due to any STD; either it is unrelated to your NGU or might reflex anxiety over the event.
284078 tn?1282620298 If I make a very gross estimate that there might be 2000 people in my city taking Topamax and I, personally have seen 2 attacks in one year, then that would put the risk at about 1 in 1000. Please understand that I have no scientific evidence to base this rate on and that this is purely my very rough estimate from my experience only. So take it for what's it worth.
Avatar m tn I was treated by a psychiatrist in Launceston Tasmania while in the psychiatric wing of a general hospital. I had often been on the fringe of BPD, as I say above, a borderline zone, a limen as some historians call it, a border territory, a zone between normality and various behavioural extremes and eccentricities from my birth in 1944 to 1980. But in 1980 the symptoms were extreme and required hospitalization.
Avatar f tn i read in this book, calledUnderstanding Hepatitis by James L Achord MD that african americans for some reason ,poorly does not respond to treatment. that cant be true. please comment? he saids interferon/riba does not work.
482543 tn?1248359021 C Peptide (see if pancreas is working still) (I'm a Type 1 Diabetic) Ref Range 1.1 - 4.4 My result: 0.9 ( poor little thing is worn out!) I see that the CRP is high and that the Complement C3 and C4 are on the high side. Any thoughts on any of these? So do I really have RA????
Avatar n tn So I'm wondering if I have all these symptoms and it is not HIV (since according to everyone here I was not at risk because I wore a condom) then could it be another autoimmune disease that is causing these similar symptoms? For example, lupus, diabetes type 1, thyroid disease etc all seem to be autoimmune diseases. So if they occur and compromise the immune system, wouldn't the body react in a similar way by producing antibodies and therefore causing hiv-like symtoms?
Avatar n tn In the United States, hepatitis B is somewhat uncommon, affecting less than 1 percent of the population, or fewer than one in 100 people.5 In many areas of the world, however, hepatitis B is common. In some parts of Africa and in most of Asia and the Pacific Islands, about 5 to 7 percent of the population has chronic hepatitis B. In some parts of Africa, more than 8 percent of the population has chronic hepatitis B.
1527789 tn?1324928760 I started with symtoms of diabetes type 1 in 2007 (used insulin). Then had frequent addisons crisis (stable on high dose of cortisone), Thyroid went hypo and meds seems to work. Developed a neurogenic bladder (meds and catheterization), chronic contsipation went to impactions and obstruction (emergency loop illeostomy done). Blood pressure falling, experienced fainting, nausea and pulpitations (dual chamber pacemaker inserted) after heart rate went to 18 beats per minute.
Avatar m tn VERTICAL TRANSMISSION OF HEPATITIS B VIRUS It is estimated that almost 50% of the cases of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection result from vertical transmission or are acquired in early childhood, especially in endemic areas[1]. The prevalence of chronic HBV infection in pregnant women reflects that in the general population[2]. About 5% of mothers worldwide are chronic HBV carriers[3]; ranging from 0.
