Avatar m tn There is no cure for it I don't think. 1 thing I know with a friend is taking fenugreek seeds. Put 5 fenugreek seeds in a half glass hot water leave overnight and drink the water and eat the seeds. My friend says that it has helped.
Avatar f tn My daughter was diagnosised with Type 1 Diabetes Aug 2008. We have learned how to inject insulin and check her blood sugar numbers. We keep her on a pretty strick diet to ensure that we keep her Blood Sugar Numbers between 80-180. The past two days she has been very low. We have tried to make sure that the insulin that we give her is only enough to cover the food that she has eaten. However, just today, she woke up with her blood sugar #s at 64. She ate about 32 carbs for breakfast.
Avatar n tn There is little help for others who have had Type 1 for many years (like my partner - 46 years old and having had Type 1 for 42 years) and are suffering from the long term effects. He frequently comments that it will be far too late for him, but let's concentrate on doing what we can to enhance and support research. In the UK the leading organisation is www.diabetes.org.uk if anyone is interested.
Avatar m tn Recently someone i know and love was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I just want to know what will happen to her life expectancy if she starts treatment and keeps on it regularly.
Avatar m tn Having gestational diabetes can make women more likely to have either type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Thus, it will be very important that your daughter has her sugar levels monitored soon after she delivers her baby and then every 3 - 6 months thereafter to be sure that levels are all staying normal.
1272685 tn?1309048218 ve done alot of research and proven to literally cure mice in a week or so, of type 1 diabetes, I was wondering how close they are with it in humans. On behalf of that note, With getting kidney and liver damage, and such from running low/high here and there.....How hard is it too get damage, and can the cure work with a little damage? And is there a course of time that it develops?
Avatar n tn No one here with PCOS? People with Type 1 diabetes can get PCOS. My aunt had type 1, which she developed as a teen and was insulin dependent her entire life, and she also had PCOS. She died at age 58 from heart disease. I too have PCOS, but I have type 2 diabetes. After years of dealing with low blood sugar and many other debilitating symptoms, including fatigue and severe PMS, I became diabetic overnight. I'm sorry to say that there is no cure for PCOS. It can only be treated.
Avatar n tn I understand that people with uncontrolled or long standing type 2 diabetes can progress to "type 1" diabetes where the pancreas can no longer make insulin or no longer make enough insulin (even with drug support to increase insulin production / increase tissue sensitivity to insulin).
Avatar n tn Hi Dalki, Yes, in time your doctor will likely know for sure which type of diabetes you have. In addition to Type 1 and Type 2, there seems to be a type 1.5 ... tho' there's some thought that 1.5s are just in the early stages of Type 1. We DMers (folks with diabetes mellitis) and our docs often call that a honeymoon phase. I hope you're feeling better now that your bloodsugar has begun to come down. Things may remain volatile for a while, so try to be patient with yourself.
307500 tn?1302116146 Says because I have Clusters of AutoImmune Diseases I most likly have type 1 diabetes. This week He has run lost of test, blood, and heart tests and blood flow. Avatar f tn I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH SLEEP APNEA 4 YEARS AGO BUT COULD NOT TOLORATE THE CPAP MACHINE DURING THIS TIME I ALSO WAS DIAGNOSED WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES WHICH ,I SLEEP WITH A SLOW RATE OF 100 OF SUGAR AND WAKE UP IN THE MORNING WITH 150 WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE NIGHT FROM WHAT I KNOW THAT SLEEP APNEA AFFECTS BLOOD SUGAR READINGS, AND OFCOURSE THOSE TWO DESEASE ARE LIFE THREATNING BESIDES I ALSO THAVE HYPOTHYROID WELL I AM PROBABLE ON MY WAY TO HEAVEN IN A LITTLE WHILE.
Avatar n tn I also noted the JAMA reminder/caution that food does not cause Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease. This study and others looked at the impact of specific foods/timing of introduction in at-risk children. Please know that Type 2 is a completely different disease than Type 1. Type 1 is autoimmune, and researchers are striving to find out what triggers (or doesn't) trigger the disease. Type 2 has completely different origins.
Avatar n tn My 9 year old granddaughter has type 1 diabetes. She was diagnosed with an abscessed tooth. About the same time, she started having small seizures. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? She's currently in the hospital. She was having as many as 100 small seizures a day. Quite scarey!
Avatar n tn I know I am insulin dependent because I cannot take my pump off except for the rare few minutes or so without my sugar sky rocketing. Now would u still call this Type 2 Diabetes or Type 1? Hearing the words Juvenile Diabetes associated with Type 1 throws me off obviously because I was not diagnosed as a juvenile. But also the words Insulin Dependent are associated with the Type 1. So I DO fit into that category.
Avatar f tn I recently was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, will I ever be able to eat whatever I want again? If so, how long do you think that will be, I miss my chocolate!!
Avatar f tn I have type 1 diabetes, and have had this challenging disease for 30 years. I am believing that I may be having the first signs of some nerve damage and am wondering what doctors/specialists I sure see. Right now I have a family practioner, and have had this same doctor for years....any suggestions on where to go next? I have excellent insurance (not always the case) and want to take care of this before the situation gets worse? Help.
Avatar m tn As of today there is no cure for diabetes. There is a good chance many people can reverse their condition through lifestyle changes by first adhering to the basics; a diabetic nutrition low in carbohydrates, maintaining normal body weight, and performing daily exercise. One has to continue to do all three or health issues can return. ie; meaning one can not return to the lifestyle that made them diabetes in the first place.
Avatar n tn My daughter was diagnoised with Diabetes while she was going through Chemotherapy for Leukemia when she was 3. The chemo caused the diabetes and I was told that once the chemo was over that the diabetes would go away; well they were wrong!
