Avatar m tn After he had 3 outbreaks of gout (which he had never had, and each time after aspiration only 1 gout crystal was found) I noticed that everytime they upped his prednisone he became normal. He is currently on 20 mgs. of prednisone, but I am not sure how long he will be kept on that amount. The doctors say it might be an autoimmune disease, but I am wondering if he never had gout and it was whatever is wrong with him now? Or are the two related?

Avatar n tn My son has hair loss and thinning hair for about 1 year, so I thought he has male pattern baldness because he has receding hairline and thinning on top of his head. We went to hair specialist who studied trichology and my son had microscopic hair analysis. The specialist said he has scalp hyperhidrosis and the excessive lactic acid is causing hair thinning and hair loss. I have never heard of scalp hyperhidrosis and my son's thinning and hair loss look just like someone having MPB.

Avatar n tn My 2yr old child was intubated at the hospital for 1 1/2 days. When the tube came out and we were able to hold her I noticed a red bump on the back of her head approx. 1 inch in diameter. When the bump healed her hair also fell out. Every time she lays down on a hard surface she says "head hurts". It has been 3 weeks and I have noticed occasionally (twice) the bald spot has a bruise on it. Her total hospital stay was 2 days and it was for a scorpion sting.
1011752 tn?1269245119 ) Indomethacin is a non-steriodal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) in the same class as Ibuprofen and Naprosyn. It is mainly used for gout and arthritis. I can see where it would benefit a migraine sufferer. I really feel for you, because I know first hand how migraines can disrupt your life. Add Bipolar into the mix with migraines, and it can get pretty ugly. I started my bouts of bad migraines right before I was diagnosed with Bipolar. It really *****. But, look on the bright side...
Avatar m tn When we consume too much energy (food) our metabolism doesn't work as well as it should, causing problems such as insulin resistance – the main cause of type 2 diabetes. Other causes include abnormal sleep patterns, increased stress, genetics and ageing.
Avatar m tn It does sound like there is a component here with the throbbing description with the cardiovascular system. A) You mentioned blood tests- 1) what was your lipid panel and your magnesium level like? 2) Did they do a CRP test and if so, with what result? 3) Did they check for anemia? 4) Did they test for blood volume at all? (A surrogate type test I've read about for blood volume and one I've had done myself is a 24 hour urine test for sodium level.
Avatar n tn Yes, the salsa probably isn't helping you at all, but I know how hard it is to give up something you love. I've been changing my lifesyle a little at time for over 3 1/2 years, and now I'm getting flak from my dietician because she thinks I'm too thin. She is pushing meat with no salt, and expecting me to eat a ton of it. I might as well be eating cardboard.

Avatar f tn My mother found this web site and sent it to me. she has been on her PC day and night for the past 1 1/2 years trying to find some relief for me. I have tried every home remedy out there. Doctors are telling me to learn to live with the burning, but that's very easy for them to say. They are not in pain 90% every passing day. I am at my wits end and will be grateful for any advice you can give me.
Avatar f tn I have been on 50000 IU for only a week, but the tingling in my hands have been occurring for 3 months and it is driving me up a wall. What's even worse is that I type all the time and have to keep correcting the words because of my fingers not working properly.
Avatar n tn My feet started swelling when training for my last marathon and I was told to loosen my laces and get a 1/2 size larger running shoe and that the swelling was normal. But now my feet have started to swell alot more often, not just when exercising. They are especially bad after a night of going out even if I have only had one or two alcoholic bevs, when I wake up it feels like there is fluid in my feet.
Avatar f tn 7 to 15, and I have what the docs consider to be an unstable INR because of all of the other meds that I take. I test once per week at home and type my results into the computer and the company monitoring my results inform my doctor when ever I am out of range (weekly). INR's can change by what you eat, I eat green leafy vegetables 3 days per week and get my veggies from low vit k foods. I take 5mg 5 days per week and 10mg 2 days per week and my last INR was 4.
529295 tn?1212775780 He also has a history of kidney stones, gout (on medication ), diabetes Type II (on metaformin 1 per day) and of course high blood pressure. It has gotten to a poitn where he feels it is had to swollen. He is taking an Allevel at night in order to deal with the pain. I made an appointment with an ENT doctor for tomorrow morning. I am thinking he has had an allergic reaction from the medication because the symptoms began soon after the enalapril was prescribed.
Avatar n tn I have no idea what causes this and both of my siblings report similar type of pain issues. Friends think this is quite strange. As a teenager, everyone called these "growing pains" but I am 30 years old and don't believe this title still applies. Any ideas on possible causes? A friend of mine recommended acupuncture but of course I cringe at the thought of needles.
211940 tn?1267884866 No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night). I even have the same pain, in the same place, in my left arm, but to a much lesser degree (maybe a 5-7 at night, but bearable). I have tried many unsuccessful web searches, trying to find something that might lead me to an answer for what this is, so here I am grasping at cyber straws.
Avatar m tn 1) amounts of fructose and glucose and is typically well tolerated by many (not all) individuals with FM. It is because glucose enhances absorption of fructose in the small intestine. So, adding pure glucose to apple pie to make fructose/glucose ratio 1:1 could help. BUT, it is sorbitol in apples that may spoil this idea. You can't "neutralize" sorbitol. What about banana pie? :) Check for more info about FM: http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/21247?
Avatar n tn Just a thought, Phizer, Merick, Glaxo and so on make much much more selling drugs to lots of overweight people who have diabetes, allergies, gout, heart problems, liver and skin diseases and, oh, the list just goes on and on. It is in the best interest of the drug manufacturers to keep people sick and overweight. What happens when half the nation stops taking both over-the-counter drugs and prescription drugs because they are finally healthy? The economy will plunge!

Avatar n tn you need to eat to your meter count carbohydrates test before you eat and 1 hour and two hours after you eat to see how that food affected you. remember every time your time BG goes over 140 you are taking baby steps to toward complications ( a nice word for going blind, loosing tows, feet, legs) its a long journey, but you have a ling time to live so the smaller the steps the better.
Avatar f tn 1. Try and relax. Take a bath, do something that calms you down. 2. Don't dwell on the negative it will just make the pain worse. 3. Eat a better diet. Heartburn has a lot to do with these symptoms so if you can eat less fatty, acidic foods and stay away from caffeine and alcohol you should begin to feel better. 4. Write it down- document when you feel the pain, what you have been doing lately, and what foods you have eaten.
Avatar f tn Didnt know that. Thought that maybe some foods were more sensitive to this like with Gout or diabetes. Actually I drink alot more: coffee, soda, water, and have to remind myself to eat something. My side of the family has had some type of medical disfunction since they were 17. I am lucky it didnt catch up with me until now. I just want to make sure to know the differences make sure everything is ok so other things dont break down so quickly.
Avatar f tn ) And at the same side of the family there is a case of type 2 diabetes in one grandparent, the father has gout for some years (but that has to do also with his eating habits) and one oncle had liver problems for a longer while (a non-virus hepatitis and high levels) caused by chemicals he worked with at his workplace. On the other side of the family I have a history of some cases of bowel cancer ,one grandparent ,a great-grand parent and one more far away relatives.
Avatar n tn seems as though I do lose a lot of hair in shower day after Christmas I woke up and the inner 1/5 of eyebrow hair on right eyebrow was gone. no stubble coming in. tiny little blond hairs nearby still there- just affected eyebrow. think it may be alopecia and have been having a lot of stress lately. hair closest to hairless patch is thinned out a bit can anemia be related? could it be stress or trauma...I may have fallen and brushed my head on ground in that area... don't remember...

1353650 tn?1429466974 I would start out with one 1/4 tsp. a day or 1 pill a day and increase every week until you get to 1/4 tsp. or 1 pill three times a day. You need to drink a lot of water while taking this because it has diuretic properties. YOU SHOULD ALSO TAKE VIT C TO HELP IT BE MORE EFFECTIVE AND B-12 BECAUSE YOU CAN BECOME DEFICIENT. I take ESter C 1000 two times daily along with a b-12 complex supplement once daily. I had my doctor put me on Nyastatin 2 times a day.
Avatar n tn I'm a 36 Y/O Male Fit Fat person who enjoys a tipple. I've been tested for gout...negative, and research on gout doesn't match my symptoms. I had accupuncture which seemed to work the first time, as pain went away for 6 days, so I had it again. It didn't work as well the second time. Maybe I'll try a third. I don't really know what to do next. I'll keep in touch.
