trileptal

1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
5032487 tn?1365824021 Lamictal is weight neutral, and is great for bipolar II, and packs most of its weight against depression. Geodon and Abilify are also supposed to be weight neutral, Geodon a little more so than Abilify. Trileptal is weight neutral as well, but its use in bipolar is technically off-label.
Avatar n tn Hi! I take abilify and trileptal and have no gained weight from those two. Hope this helps! Also, Zyprexa for me was super bad on the weight thing. I gained 20 lbs! Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn For the last 6 years I've been seeing my psychiatrist every 4 weeks. For the last 2 years she's been pushing Tegretol on me. That's in addition to Abilify, Buspar, Lexapro, and Tofranil. The last time I was hospitalized for psychiatric reasons the psychiatrist there in the hospital put me on 600mg of Tegretol nightly. I was a zombie for the 6 months that I gave it a full shot.
Avatar n tn I certainly remember from taking it. Abilify is the least sedating out of all the antipsychotics currently available. You could ask your psychiatrist about that. However, its less of a mood stabilizer so you might need to take one in addition and generally Lamictal is the least sedating out of the mood stabilizers in conventional use. You could speak to your psychiatrist about that as well.
Avatar f tn t listed. Meds like Abilify, Trileptal, Tegretol, Seroquel, Resperidol......I think those are some that should be added! Thanks!
Avatar f tn I tried tegretol once for a month but gave me headaches that was the only MS i used before my today lamictal. In the USA they don't use it anymore because it's interactive with other drugs. Trileptal is its cousin though weaker and as IL said doesn't need blood test. Incidentally lamictal sometimes they mix it with depakote it says in its brochure. I wonder why he recommends tegretol. Is it he is suggesting any MS and that's all.
5544493 tn?1369608788 ll need a typical or atypical antipsychotic (Seroquel and Abilify are both atypicals). Carbamazepine interacts with a lot of other things, and oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) seems like a better choice, even though it's off label. In the end, there's a huge number of meds that can be used in BP, and it really depends on the individual how well any particular one will work. Check out the crazymeds page (just google it) to see a lot of info on different options for BP.
Avatar n tn Give the Tegretol a month or two before you give up. If you are dysphoric (bitchy,) then you might need to be careful about adding an antidepressant. You may want to try adding another mood stabilizer, but probably not lamictal, because it is typically activating, and it sounds like you need more of a downer. If I were you, I might talk to my doctor about switching to Trileptal--it's like Tegretol with less side effects.
5101703 tn?1363720186 s Johnson syndrome which is often fatal. Often Abilify taken with an anti-depressent can work wonders but everyone is different so work with what you have even if it is a medical dr but don't let them do all the work. Give whatever medicine they put you on a chance and take cognitive steps to help the medicine work. Don't sit around and worry about being bipolar and your meds.
Avatar m tn I lost my medical insurance and need help with maintaining my prescription of Trileptal. I was told that the internet coupons may not be available in Maine where I live. Other assistance, maybe directly from manufacture? Only need assistance for 6 mos.
Avatar n tn Lamictal is weight neutral. A nice slow titration up is important, and you can even start as low as 2.5 mg/day if you need to and very gradually work your way up. Tegretol (carbamazapine) and Trileptal (oxcarbazapine) are weight neutral as far as I can tell from the reading I've done. Trileptal is off label for bipolar, but it apparently has fewer side effects than Tegretol and apparently works just as well.
Avatar f tn There is no reason you can't take Abilify with Zoloft. I take Abilify with several other medications. It started working within 2 weeks and my depression decreased dramatically. One common side effect of Abilify is akathisia, a restless need to move. I have that but added propranolol and it stopped it completely with no other side effects.
Avatar f tn But i can explain the headache and your excess sweating. The headache is from trileptal but it can subside with time, I had tegretol before and it gave me headache then it becomes less and less. Trileptal is the weaker version of tegretol which docs in the USA don't prescribe anymore as it's interactive sometimes with other meds. The English school commonwealth australia etc..
Avatar f tn Have you had these symptoms checked out by your GP? Abilify does cause shaking and tremors, and just because your psychiatrist hasn't seen these side effects doesn't mean they aren't being caused by the Abilify. I doubt the Abilify is doing much to help you, it's rare to get this many years out of one medication as our bodies build up a tolerance to these types of medications.
Avatar f tn I am on zoloft which does not help with my anxiety, does adding abilify help with the anxiety and the depression?
Avatar m tn has anyone tried to wean their patients off taking abilify and try alternative measures?
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response!! I am trying remain optimistic but Neurontin nor Lyrica have touched the pain. Here's to hoping Trileptal will take the edge off!!
Avatar f tn I'm on Lamictal and now Abilify, and haven't noticed a difference in my appetite and have lost weight (I've been on the Lamictal for over a year, just got on the Abilify). I took Depakote in the past and gained a lot of weight... but I, too, know those who haven't gained a pound on it. I have a feeling it was my college eating habits combined with the fatigue from new meds - and letting it run my life - that led to the gain.
Avatar n tn I am just wondering if anyone has experienced elevated mood swings with abilify. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar1 as well as Major Depressive Disorder. I am currently taking Seroquel, Klonopin, Depakote, Cymbalta, and Abilify (day2). I had been taking 600mg of the seroquel and my md lowered my dosage to 300 adding 5mg of abilify. For the past two days (first two days on Abilify) I have experienced extreme mood swings and seem to snap at relatively small things.
1985196 tn?1402190098 wow , that's some medication , over the last 10 years i've been on quiet a lot too but for the first 5 year's or so it was mainly anti-depressants and the odd anti psychotic , but they had no odea what they were treating back then, it's only been the last few years i got diagnosed properly ,but they are still not 100% sure about the Bi polar / with psychotic features or Schizoaffective , which is what they call it for now , i don't think there's a whole lot of difference
2080404 tn?1643113754 tegretol is a mood stabilizer one of three most famous MS the other 2 are divalporex (depakote) and lithium. Usually pdocs who follow the book write one of these 3. The 1st 2 are anticonvulsant but used off-label as MS for BP. Among the three, tegretol is the mildest in my view in that it doesn't have the more serious side effects of the other 2. Especially being a girl depakine / depakote causes ovarian cyst among other things.
1011826 tn?1274492712 Any suggestions in dealing with it? Anyone who has dealt with the same thing? My symptoms are that I am having horrible anxiety, insomnia and irritability since reducing my dosage of Trileptal this week. Backstory: I am switching from Trileptal to Lamictal over a long period of time. After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system.
1714202 tn?1352672419 I'm going out this weekend and will probably end up drinking. I'm on lamictal, abilify, and ativan. Does anyone know the interactions mixing those with alcohol? Any help would be great thanks!
