trileptal side effects rash

I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?

Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you. I am hoping and praying that this drug will help. I am scared that there may not be another option as my MS neuro is advising against surgery, including gamma knife.

Trileptal is a newer drug than Tegretol (carbamazapine) and is supposed to have less side effects than Tegretol. You do have to have blood tests every three months because it can affect the sodium levels in your blood, which could lead to kidney problems. I went through 6 doctors before I found a Facial Pain Specialist at a large teaching hospital that actually helped me.

I've been taking zyprexa for almost 6 months and am still suffering side effects. I get blurred vision and fogginess which makes it hard to concentrate. I'm sleepy all of the time and could fall asleep at my desk if I could. I've had bipolar disorder for 10 years and have never been sleepy all of the time. In the past, prior to this medicine, I've always had troubles sleeping. Does anyone else have the same problems as me?

After only a week of being on this medication for the stabbing pain behind my right eye I feel horrible do the side effects eventually get better or should I stop taking it

I never had that particular side effect when I was on Trileptal -- but you should definitely speak to your doctor -- find out if it IS the Trileptal causing the problem and if so -- there are definitely lots of other anti-seizure meds out there that you could be switched to.

i was on trileptal as well as lamictal, never really had any side effects to speak of...but i DO know, and forgive the spelling, but those invoulentary twitching momvements that can become permenant is called (sp) tardive dyskanisia...or TD for short. some psycotropic drugs have this as a side effect, esp after long term use, and most dr's dont tell you about this side effect, even though its listed in the side effects. just another little fun dise effect of psych meds, huh...

If so, what are your side effects like? Does it do a good job with managing symptoms? Any other reason why you love it or hate it?

If the Trileptal is raised you may encounter these side effects at an increased rate. It might make sense for your psychiatrist to add another medication but there may be some interactions so he might want to change or adjust the medications you are on but that's their decision. Just started tegretrol this week so far no side effects. I am weaning off lyrica for the 2nd time so I hope it works this go around.

Thank you for your response!! I am trying remain optimistic but Neurontin nor Lyrica have touched the pain. Here's to hoping Trileptal will take the edge off!!

You can't always blame the drugs. Oxcarbazepine has different effects and side effects in different people. I also use it and has no issues YET, except the grogginess and drowsiness in the first week. Hope we all do good.

I'm wondering if anyone else has numb fingertips as a side effect from Trileptal...I am currently taking 600 mg. I'm also being worked up for MS, so I don't know if this is from the drug I take for TN or from some other cause?? Thanks.

If the side effects look scary, go look up the full side effects profile for an OTC drug you use often (like ibuprofen), which will give you an idea of how scary the full side effects profiles sound.

I just read about the side effects of Trileptal, a few among them being rashes and mental sluggishness. I used to take olanzapine and Abilify (together) some time ago, and I went off it because of the mental sluggishness. I could give Trileptal a try but I hope that the sluggishness and rashes don't set in. With Divalproex on the other hand, my mind's capability is affected a bit, but not that much as with Olanzapine and Abilify.

So I have been diagnosed by two different psychiatrists the first said bipolar II the second cyclomania. Also been diagnosed with ADHD but cannot take meds for it because of bipolar. Or maybe I am just bipolar and was misdiagnosed...anyways I have irritability, anger, mild depression, hypomania, am very figity, have sleeping problems...

I am currently on Topamax and have been for over a year now.....when I was first put on it I lost 25 pounds. Then as my body adjusted to it the weight loss has stopped. I just has my dosage increased about a week ago and have lost an additional 5 pounds since then.... Topamax is a anti-convulsant and is used in Bipolar patients as an off-label med....

Do the new drugs come with their own side effects besides the ones that soc come with? Not sure if I asked that right, I'm still waiting for everything to come together but if the new meds come with even worse side effects than one might already get maybe that's another reason to treat now.

t have epilepsy, but my questions is what happens to you possible long term effects from taking it;s medication. I had a Shoppers Drug Mart give me Trileptal 300mg instead of my medication. My memory had changed some what and don't know if it's from it or not. No one has an aswer to why I am still living after taking those meds? For 5 days I had to put up with barely keeping my eyes open and my husband couldn't wake me for two hours?

Anyone had any withdrawal side effects relating to Trileptal? Any suggestions in dealing with it? Anyone who has dealt with the same thing? My symptoms are that I am having horrible anxiety, insomnia and irritability since reducing my dosage of Trileptal this week. Backstory: I am switching from Trileptal to Lamictal over a long period of time.

Has anyone had feelings of fatigue, anxiety and other side effects after weaning from trileptal? If so how long before you felt back to normal?
