trileptal

471949 tn?1236904026 Once we started oxrate, the seizures are under control and the memory disturbances are seen only when we increased the dose. He is stable at that dose of 900mg twice a day and right now his memory is alright as well. Apart from a bit of disorientation we haven’t observed any other side effect.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you. I am hoping and praying that this drug will help. I am scared that there may not be another option as my MS neuro is advising against surgery, including gamma knife.
Avatar m tn I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.
1374874 tn?1278686480 With all of the anti-seizure meds (gabapentin, Tegretol, Trileptal, etc) you have to increase the dose slowly according to your doctor's instructions to get pain relief. That said, I did not do well on Tegretol -- it made me a zombie and did not help my pain. But everyone is different. I ended up on Trileptal -- it has less side effects than Tegretol. I took 3 doses of 600 mg per day to stop my pain.
Avatar m tn now the doc wants to put me back on low dose lithium along with a med to protect my kidneys and monitor them closely. i am curently on trileptal and seroquel but still have anxiety and hypomania. i don;t know what to do. has anyone had similar experiences with ect and/or with low dose lithium?
Avatar f tn Is anyone on here taking Trileptal for bipolar? Any comments or results?
Avatar n tn Alex gave you a wonderful answer. Trileptal can be very effective against nerve pain for some people with MS (and people with nerve pain from other causes as well). The fact that your symptoms returned when you were weaned off the drug is a good sign that it's working for what ails you. I'm glad it is still being prescribed for you. If you feel comfortable sharing, has the Trileptal helped symptoms in addition to pain for you?
1100992 tn?1262357216 The best thing to do is tirate the dose up slowly. Now I have no side effects at all from the tablets. It did a very good job at managing symptoms for about 5 years or so and then failed to hold back a manic episode that occured last year triggered by a job that required irregular night shifts. I needed the extra help of seroquel with that one. I would say that it has been a good mood stabiliser, but with time (years) the effectiveness has decreased for me. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn My daughter was diagnosed with CP, sensory intetgration, ADHD, and had suffer from seizures, but has been seizure free for about 3 years (so we think, nothing witnessed). She was first on trileptal, then added keppra, then d/c'd the trileptal. About 1 1/2 years ago they d/c'd her keppra, due to being seizure free for a couple of years and her dose was so low that on her last labs it did not even register. She got very ill in February of this year with the flu, then strep throat....
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new to the sight but have been doing research on Trileptal and MS. I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist?
4980051 tn?1361868778 I started at 150 and after receiving some benefit, decided along w/ my neurologist to increase the dose to 300 mg 2x/day. This dose has significantly reduced my # of h/a days per month as well as reducing the number of intractable h/z per month. (the kind that does not respond to treatment). Although I have experienced a few SE's such as decreased appetite and nervousness, they have lessened over time and neither were nearly as incapacitating as having a mad migraine.
Avatar f tn I gained about twenty pounds on Trileptal, (a very similar drug), in just a month, and now I am also switching to Zonegran. I'm still in the process of raising my dose, but thrilled that it's working well for your daughter!
Avatar m tn I withdrew of off the trileptal first and the geodon second. As i started withdrawing off of the trileptal i started to feel numb in my head. It is now about nine months later and the same annoying feeling is still there. My question is if withdrawing from the medication in the way i did was the cause of this numbness. I was on this medication for about six months prior to that with no numbness or bad side effects, just the inability so sit still and focus.
Avatar n tn He does have a Neurologist at a Children's Hospital (Lebonheur) in Memphis , TN. He is on Trileptal. He has had several EEG's and they have shown seizure activity every time so they are treating the seizures. The Cardiologist is the one that suggested this but he said he has not treated this and he didn't know alot about this. They didn't do a MRI or a CT when he was hit but he had one last year and they everything was good.
222267 tn?1253302210 Yes I took Trileptal (the brand name of what you are taking) years ago. It didn't work out for me but not for the reasons you said. Some people have found it tolerable and effective. It is clinically related to Tegretol which requires regular bloodtests to monitor for loss of white blood cells (which does not often occur but still must be tested for). It rarely happens with Trileptal, unlike Tegretol but it can on occasion.
Avatar f tn He was prescribed Dylantin which was switched to Keppra. His neurologist recently added Trileptal to balance his levels because he was having seizures so often. His therapist also prescribed him Celexal and Elavil for depression medication due to bipolar disorder. Now it seems that the 2 anti-depressants have a side effect of seizures, which causes him to seize more than usual. Should the 4 meds be mixed, Keppra, Celexa, Elavil and Trileptal?
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar m tn My three year old has been acting out severely lately. She has began being violent, back talking, she throws toys, && refuses to follow directions. She has also began lying. She knows the difference between reality && fantasy, however she has began lying about EVERYTHING! Even the simplest questions get lies as the answers. For instance I can ask her if she needs to go pee, she will lie && say no. She has never really had a problem with lying before about two months ago.
Avatar f tn This is what I could find as per the interaction between Suboxone and Trileptal but all this should be discussed with your psychiatrist who could (and should be doing) a search on the physician's only database all doctors have access to.
738075 tn?1330575844 I woke up with Trigeminal Neuralgia last Thursday morning. I knew that was what it was, because I had it once seven years ago. This time it's SO much worse! I told myself I'd "tough it out" for the weekend, even though I did put in a call to my neurologist. By Sunday, it was so bad, I was in tears! I told my DH "just take me out back and shoot me like an old horse!" I was kidding, but kinda serious, too!
Avatar n tn (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
