Trileptal neuropathy

Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal neuropathy

trileptal

Avatar f tn I am a 53 yr old caucasion female. I have been suffering with some type of neuropathy for about 13 yrs. I've had 2 neurologists (because of a move). The first one diagnosed me with CIDP. but my new dr. does not agree because I don't seem to have any signs of weakness in my extremities. My symptoms are feelings similar to what you'd feel when someone scratches their nails down a chalkboard. They started in my left foot and shot up that leg.
5466288 tn?1410485185 Not sure if peripheal neuropathy is one of the symptoms MS patients experience.I'm not diabetic,so not sure why I have it in my feet. But last night felt it traveling into my legs...Yeeowww! Needless to say,I slept 'til after noon today!
233622 tn?1279334905 I have had lots of seizure meds, due to a seizure disorder which has since disappeared, thankfullly. I've been on trileptal, topomax, lamotrigene, keppra, gabapentin(neurontin) and lyrica. Side effects made me stop the first three, a suspected side effect stopped me from taking the keppra, though we know now that it wasn't the med (my facial sensory stuff), I have only been given the last two for nerve pain.
Avatar f tn I have been seeing a neurologist since October of last year. So far, he has diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia, Peripheral Neuropathy, Mild spinal stenosis, and idiopathic chronic pain syndrome. Every medication we have tried starts out helping and within weeks stops working. He says I am building up "tolerances" to the meds really fast and he cannot explain it. I am so very tired of the pain, numbness, burning, cramping, et al. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
2030686 tn?1351688548 If you are also experiencing tingling, numbness along with pain in shoulders and hands then it could possibly be due to brachial plexus neuropathy. What medication are you taking? Lamotrigine can lead to back pain, joint pains. It is best to seek medical consultation. A physical examination is important and investigations will provide more information. I hope it helps. Best luck and take care!
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
Avatar m tn Review this site for manufacturer patient assistance programs: http://www.needymeds.org/index.htm And specifically for the drug Trileptal: http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?
Avatar f tn Your other option is to tell your neurologist the drugs are not working. Have they tried Lyrica or Gabenpentin,or Trileptal? No drug works on all people. If you have a good GP and they are more convenient you can try that for pain meds.
667078 tn?1316000935 I have neuropathy and am going on Lyrica or Trileptal. It is not MS but it is painful. My inflamed lymph nodes are pressing on nerves. My neck is sore, my back is sore. It hurts when I breath. So people with neuropathy not related to MS can be in plenty of pain. I just thought of peripheral neuropathy. The doctor wants to send me to hospice but I am not ready.

Avatar m tn My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
Avatar m tn I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
2047903 tn?1330187549 I'm wondering if anyone else has numb fingertips as a side effect from Trileptal...I am currently taking 600 mg. I'm also being worked up for MS, so I don't know if this is from the drug I take for TN or from some other cause?? Thanks.
728313 tn?1260459629 t have epilepsy, but my questions is what happens to you possible long term effects from taking it;s medication. I had a Shoppers Drug Mart give me Trileptal 300mg instead of my medication. My memory had changed some what and don't know if it's from it or not. No one has an aswer to why I am still living after taking those meds? For 5 days I had to put up with barely keeping my eyes open and my husband couldn't wake me for two hours?
Avatar n tn To take this test my doctor weened me off Trileptal over a three week period. After off the drug for a couple weeks my symptoms returned - full force. Now after two weeks back on, I'm feeling much better. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn My brain MRI came up normal again. I have been diagnosed with Trigeminal neuralgia and I now also have peripheral neuropathy but don't have diabetes. The neurologist started me on Trileptal that I am to take as needed for the pain. The right ear pain is a sharp deep pain into the ear with some mild burning sensations. My balance has been off for the past few years and the neurologist sent me to physical therapy to see if it helps with my vertigo and ataxia.
Avatar m tn Any diarrhea? How did you feel on Tegretol ? What was trileptal like?
471949 tn?1236904026 My son takes Trileptal for his Epilepsy...(he is 16)...it's affecting his memory more and more; does anyone else here take this med and have similar problems? His dosage is 900mg/twice a day. Any lower dose and his seizures return. This has been the only med that has been able to control his seizures. He has frontal lobe epilepsy with seizures that only occured in his sleep (with a couple of rare exceptions). Thanks for your help.
