trileptal in infants

Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!

I have been on it for only 5 months. I have had no lasting problems so far. It has completely stopped my seizures. I have TLE. Yes I was also told the same thing about being on it forever... I don't know how long the drug has been out in the US. Guess we need to do some research. Stay in touch.

The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.

Anyone had any withdrawal side effects relating to Trileptal? Any suggestions in dealing with it? Anyone who has dealt with the same thing? My symptoms are that I am having horrible anxiety, insomnia and irritability since reducing my dosage of Trileptal this week. Backstory: I am switching from Trileptal to Lamictal over a long period of time.

I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.

A friend of mine gets his Depakote from there it is so much cheaper, Trileptal I think in generic was $43 for 100 (150mg) generics. Check it out, they will tell you who makes it and what country, most are from Canada. PS.I know this stream is not really for this forum, but knowing where to get safe and cheap medicine is relevant for us all.

I had very severe side effects w/Trileptal. I have been on this drug for about 1 year. In August, I was rushed to the ER with severe dizziness and headache (missed my trip to Hawaii!!!). Neutremia was discovered at this time. I have been going to doctors since trying to find the cause. My neurologist found the problem yesterday...yes, it is Trileptal. Side effects I have had recently are neutremia, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, headache....seeing my psych doc next week.

I got cut off the Norco I did something that I was not suppose to do in the contract that I signed so they stopped me CT. I was taking 10 the 10/325 norco a day I have 120 left I handed them over to my husband so I can taper I am down to 6 I feel like my world is crashing around me. I am withdrawing, on the weekend I am not going to take any. I am just going to take the Klonopin or the xanax ER I have the nerontin maybe that will help...

Honestly, in my opinion, babies are so wrapped up in this new world, all the new things going in for them, that a little cold (virus) hardly slows them down. it could be your baby is behind because she doesn't feel well all the time, and THAT is holding her back. Maybe not, but in either case I would push for them to figure it out. Chalking it all down to a virus is a lazy, sorry excuse. My point is, YOU DO know your child more than anyone.

I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.

t control, one so badly I ended up in an emergency room with a neurologist questioning if the Trileptal was causing the problem. After getting a new psych doctor and a therapist, we all decided to work together to get me off of Trileptal, as the pdoc felt it had not really helped me, and the therapist helped me deal with the depression and anxiety as well. Pdoc also was worried about the hyponatremia and "twitches".

I just started taking oxcarbazepine 9 days ago and I built up to 300 mg,no high not even close.Not like with other drugs like oxycontin, were with in 30 min you get a buzz.I guess you have to take higher doses if thats were you want to go,but I dont know.

My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????

I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.

I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.

I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?

My brother is in bad shape in St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. He is on Tegretol and because of major diareaha and he wants to be put on Lyrica! Any thoughts please?

Hi JKJ, I have a similar case of frontal lobe epilepsy with similar pattern of seizures occurring only during sleep, a male patient, 14 years of age, who has been on oxcarbazepine i.e Trileptal ( oxrate here in India) for the last few months and we did observe disturbances in his memory. The episodes of memory disturbances increased as we increased the dose, but it wasn’t so worse as in the first instance. We already tried Tegretol (carbamazepine) for him and it didn’t work.

I take 1400mg a day of the tegretol retard slow release. The side effects were mostly in the beginning - drowsiness was the hardest, but tolerable. The best thing to do is tirate the dose up slowly. Now I have no side effects at all from the tablets. It did a very good job at managing symptoms for about 5 years or so and then failed to hold back a manic episode that occured last year triggered by a job that required irregular night shifts. I needed the extra help of seroquel with that one.

My neurologist agreed to recommend Trileptal, but says I am being unrealistic to think I can get off Gabapentin in addition to Tegretol, as I am still experiencing pain using both, and higher doses really affect me in various ways. Since I am a Vet and going through the Veterans Administration, he said that the Trileptol needs to be approved by the pharmacy. If it is not approved, I won't be able to get it.
