trileptal hair loss

Hi, I have suffered with migraines for many years & was placed on prophylactic meds-Cymbalta & Propranolol. About 3 months ago I developed Trigeminal Neuritis on my R side. I have to say it was the most painful affliction I ever experienced, even worse than the 2 spinal fusions I underwent! I was placed on Trileptal & am up to 600mg 2x/day, as well as continuing with Cymbalta & Propranolol.

Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!

The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.

After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!

I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.

Otherwise its extremely rare. Loss of coordination which is different can occur from Trileptal and I believe the two medications can interact. Speak to your psychiatrist about this.

If any of you have experience with either of these drugs, I need help deciding what side effects I can handle. Increased facial hair was a big one for dilantin. Yikes!! Thanks for your help, in advance. I'm in a lot of pain. but I just don't want to trade one serious problem for another one- you know what I mean??

I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?

Low iron levels can cause hair loss. You might want to get that checked.

I'm losing hair too. Not in clumps but I clog the drain once a week from my hair loss. And all my friends said their hair was so full and healthy during pregnancy and after lost some. I get a ball of hair during evey wash and its not normal for me also my scalp itches like crazy and I don't have bugs lol o had my husband check lol!

Especially after combing my hair,there is a ton of hair in the sink. However my hair seems to be growing as fast as it falls out so I have thickness still. Someone told me to drink more milk and I find on the days that I do I see less shedding.

I actually posted about this a month or so ago. I have hair loss that really started post Tx. My hair didn't grow hardly at all during Tx, than about 6 weeks post Tx it really started falling out, probably lost 50%. Everyone says it should grow back fine after 6 months post Tx. On a 12 week treatment with peg , ribavirin and sovaldi should I experience hair loss ? I am a hairstylist with very long thick hair ,still planning on working . Not planning to tell clients about treatment ,mostly due to fear they will not understand . How much hair loss should I expect?
