trileptal

11079760 tn?1483386130 I went on trileptal and had no side effects. I could not do gabenpentin.
Avatar m tn I suffer from constant pain - pain specialists here have tried injections - burning the nerve, botox and every possible drug - Lyrica, indomethacin, neurontin, dilantin, elavil - opiates make it worse (trileptal was the only one that helped but lowered my sodium to 118 within 48 hours at just 300 mgs a day) 3 neurologists have suggested just living life out on klonopin but i refuse (high gaba covers the pain - ironic - depakote and tomomax make it worse.
5485096 tn?1375574235 If Gabepentin does not work there is Trileptal. I like Trileptal the best. Many times MS patients need anti spasmatics and drugs for nerve pain.
Avatar n tn I was suprised as I thought valium was the best to taper from. I am also on lamictal and trileptal and they both effect gaba so I think its too much for my brain. I hope to taper off lamictal also as I am severly depressed so its not working either. whats the point of taking drugs that dont work. My dr also prescribed neurotin . I took it a few times then read it also effects Gaba. I cant think or concentrate or learn anything new . I have no memory and learn anything new.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
Avatar f tn i don't believe anyone has mentionned gaba, yet it is supposed to be a sleeping and calming amino. does anyone know if it helps? i am thinking rls is a brain thing and maybe there is an amino for it.
1326513 tn?1276518001 Probably not -- ativan targets GABA receptors. Don't know how frequently you take ativan. GABA isn't a particularly effective supplement for anxiety. For one thing, it can cause anxiety. For another, and most important, it doesn't cross the blood/brain barrier well. A better way to get GABA is to take taurine, which along with B-6 is what the body uses to make GABA, but since you're taking the ativan, I'd be careful about this.
Avatar f tn First, if you're on any drug such as benzos or neurontin that target GABA don't take this. Second, GABA supplements don't usually cross the blood/brain barrier, so they don't usually work. The best way to supplement for GABA, assuming you're not on medication that targets it, is to take the pseudo amino acid taurine and B6, which together with other co-factors make GABA in the body.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
Avatar m tn Review this site for manufacturer patient assistance programs: http://www.needymeds.org/index.htm And specifically for the drug Trileptal: http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?
1108262 tn?1273179266 DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??
Avatar m tn My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
Avatar m tn I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
2047903 tn?1330187549 I'm wondering if anyone else has numb fingertips as a side effect from Trileptal...I am currently taking 600 mg. I'm also being worked up for MS, so I don't know if this is from the drug I take for TN or from some other cause?? Thanks.
645390 tn?1338555377 He said I could D/C Amitriptyline with no weaning off, and to start decreasing the Trileptal. I am almost done with the Trileptal, only taking 1/2 tab every other day. (started with 4 pills per day.) Here is the problem: for the last 2 days or so, my Left leg, AKA my "good" leg, has been stiff, getting stiffer. Today, it is very painful and I can't bend my knee hardly at all. My knee hurts as well, as most of my leg.
728313 tn?1260459629 t have epilepsy, but my questions is what happens to you possible long term effects from taking it;s medication. I had a Shoppers Drug Mart give me Trileptal 300mg instead of my medication. My memory had changed some what and don't know if it's from it or not. No one has an aswer to why I am still living after taking those meds? For 5 days I had to put up with barely keeping my eyes open and my husband couldn't wake me for two hours?
7191139 tn?1389055599 First, antidepressants don't increase GABA in the brain. The don't work on GABA, they work on other neurotransmitters, and they don't even increase those, they just alter how the body uses them, so Abilify and ssris, for example don't target GABA. Benzos do target GABA, but don't necessarily increase it, again, they alter the way the body uses it mostly. GABA supplements don't generally cross the blood/brain barrier, so they don't usually increase GABA either.
Avatar n tn To take this test my doctor weened me off Trileptal over a three week period. After off the drug for a couple weeks my symptoms returned - full force. Now after two weeks back on, I'm feeling much better. Any ideas?
