trileptal for pain

Thanks for your info on how Trileptal works for Tregeminal Neuralgia. I would be interested to see how it works with other people as well, in place of Carbamazapine and Gabapentin so I have some ammunition when I see my neurologist. I don't think Gabapentin is doing much if anything for me, I am currently taking 2700 mg per day in addition to Carbamazapine.

I did feel like I was getting a little pain relief while on the Trileptal. Just hoping Tegretol works for me. Want to get out of this constant pain so I can get back to doing the everyday things I used to enjoy.

Yes, I have used for TN and simultaneous leg pain. It works well with few side effects (drowsy at first which resolves with use).

DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??

After only a week of being on this medication for the stabbing pain behind my right eye I feel horrible do the side effects eventually get better or should I stop taking it

He told me to take the Trileptal 2 x per day and see if that helps. He said it is a pill for nerve pain and lets try increasing the dose. I am to call back either way tomorrow and let them know if it is better. I told the PA about my PCP thinking it has been shingles when this has happened in the past, but shingles never happened. I asked her what it is, she doesn't know, but said she has heard this complaint in the past by other patients. So, does it matter what the source of the pain is?

I am finishing my week of no medication for my TN after tapering off the Trileptal, and my neuro-opthalmalogist wants to start me on Lyrica. I am very concerned about gaining weight on it (if my insurance company even approves it.) I have been very carefully following WW and have lost 35 pounds since August. The Lyrica site says something like 10-16% of people do gain, so I wonder if board members have been experiencing this.

t travel along the traditional path of the trigeminal nerve but the treatment is the same. I took Trileptal for my face pain until I had an allergic reaction. It did wonders. There are other drugs available too.

I was taking Trileptal and experiencing nausea. My pain doc suggested that I take the meds 1/2 hour to 1 hour before eating. That stopped the nausea for me.

My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????

I was lucky and after 3 procedures have been pain free and medication free for almost 4 years. So I was able to wean off the Trileptal under doctors orders.

He is not against Morphine I take it for Cancer. There are several drugs for nerve pain Lyrica, Gabenpentin, Trileptal, and few others. For muscle spasms there are muscle relaxers the main ones are Bacolphen, Flexiral, and Zananflex. Many people need a combination. Some drugs work for some people and others for others. My MS Specialist sent me to a pain clinic. It might take awhile to get the right combination and dosage. It took me two years to get on the combination that works.

Is anyone on here taking Trileptal for bipolar? Any comments or results?

I have been on it for only 5 months. I have had no lasting problems so far. It has completely stopped my seizures. I have TLE. Yes I was also told the same thing about being on it forever... I don't know how long the drug has been out in the US. Guess we need to do some research. Stay in touch.

You are right, anti-seizure meds are often used to treat nerve pain associated with MS. I currently take Lyrica, an anti-seizure med, for nerve pain in my feet. As to your facial numbness, it is possible that IT IS MS RELATED. It's something that should be addressed. As you already have a relationship with a neurologist, I would discuss with him/her.

After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!

Hi, I have been taking Trileptal for 8 years now and have done great with it. I would like to be pregnant in a couple of years and was wondering if anyone has been pregnant while taking the drug. My doctors are insisting that I change over to Lamictil so that my pregnancy will be safer. Any advice anyone??

There are many medications that can help for nerve pain. It just depends on which works for you. There is Lyrica, Neurotin, Tegretol, and Trileptal to name a few. There are many conditions which cause PN some Neurological some not.

what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?

s nothing else she can offer, and I should see my neuro for pain management. I go back to the neuro in a couple of weeks for my MRI/MRA/SSER results, so maybe it will have kicked in by then.

I am taking tablets for my minor neural problem for the past 4 years, The tablets i am consuming are Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) -300mg and Levetiracetam (keppra) -250mg. Now I am looking for a tablet which should have both of this content in the same. I also use Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation and Therapeutic Dressage (horse back riding) for pain control. A lot of my pain is made worse by a weak core and stress. I have to keep my core strong, stretch, and use mindfulness to keep the stress down.

will chantix efect the use of all my meds for seizures/hiv.
