trileptal dosing info

What is the most effective dosing schedule should I use for Carbamazepine? Would that be 4 pills 4 times per day? Or perhaps 5 pills 3 times per day? Or 3 pills 5 times per day (i.e. - Getting up in the middle of the night for a dose.)? I feel right now my schedule is rather willy-nilly... I don't want to be taking this many pills but I can feel huge pain is coming my way so I take 2 more, etc. Sometimes I "go fetal" I am in so much pain.

Thanks for your info on how Trileptal works for Tregeminal Neuralgia. I would be interested to see how it works with other people as well, in place of Carbamazapine and Gabapentin so I have some ammunition when I see my neurologist. I don't think Gabapentin is doing much if anything for me, I am currently taking 2700 mg per day in addition to Carbamazapine.

Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!

The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.

After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!

currently 6ml in the a.m. and 8ml in the p.m. (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.

I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.

I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?

I have been on Armour for a couple of years now and still am having challenges with dosing, as I am in finding a Dr. that truly understands Armour. I was taking 30 mg in morning 7am an hour prior to food, and taking 30 mg at 11 am hour before food. I am extremely sensitive to the spikes (which don't bother me) and the crash (which is a problem). Even with my dosing schedule, I begin functioning at a very low level around 5-6pm.

My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????

I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?

I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.

My daughter was diagnosed with CP, sensory intetgration, ADHD, and had suffer from seizures, but has been seizure free for about 3 years (so we think, nothing witnessed). She was first on trileptal, then added keppra, then d/c'd the trileptal. About 1 1/2 years ago they d/c'd her keppra, due to being seizure free for a couple of years and her dose was so low that on her last labs it did not even register. She got very ill in February of this year with the flu, then strep throat....

I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. I'm wondering if anyone else has numb fingertips as a side effect from Trileptal...I am currently taking 600 mg. I'm also being worked up for MS, so I don't know if this is from the drug I take for TN or from some other cause?? Thanks.

t have epilepsy, but my questions is what happens to you possible long term effects from taking it;s medication. I had a Shoppers Drug Mart give me Trileptal 300mg instead of my medication. My memory had changed some what and don't know if it's from it or not. No one has an aswer to why I am still living after taking those meds? For 5 days I had to put up with barely keeping my eyes open and my husband couldn't wake me for two hours?

To take this test my doctor weened me off Trileptal over a three week period. After off the drug for a couple weeks my symptoms returned - full force. Now after two weeks back on, I'm feeling much better. Any ideas?

While not curable, many people find long term pain relief through medications, or surgeries, or alternatives such as Accupuncture. I am unfamiliar with the drug you mentioned. Is it an anti-seizure medication? Most doctors give Tegretol, Trileptal, or gabapentin, anti-seizure drugs used "off label" for Trigeminal neuralgia.
