trileptal

Avatar m tn I have had low blood pressure for quiet a while now. Yes, having Complex Partial Seizures do make you age pre-maturely. I am currently on 54 yrs old but, I look like a person that is 74 yrs old. I have an all white full beard, solid white hair on every inch of my body. I had Complex Partial Seizures since my 21st birthday. By the time, I was 26 yrs old, my hair started turning salt and pepper color. By the time, I was 30 yrs old I was completely gray haird.
Avatar n tn Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your reply, I ve taken a holiday by the beach i went for swiming walking trying to laugh and forget about my problems and it helped a lot, Now with the calmepam i have reduced the dose gradually i started to take half of the tablet for 5 days then i stopped for 2 days then i started to take quarter of the tablet every two days till i stopped now (almost from 5 days) is it okay?.
1108262 tn?1273179266 if your Pdoc has started it,then it is a good descision as on Trileptal you need not undergo regular blood tests initially or later to check your white cell count. You will have to take this for a long time if you respond well to this medication which is generally well tolerated.
2047903 tn?1330187549 I'm wondering if anyone else has numb fingertips as a side effect from Trileptal...I am currently taking 600 mg. I'm also being worked up for MS, so I don't know if this is from the drug I take for TN or from some other cause?? Thanks.
1100992 tn?1262357216 i took tegretol for 2 months and caused me headaches, but i am not a standard typical example because i can't tolerate drugs easily. trileptal its cousin is much weaker. if you compare tegretol with depakote or lithium the 3 most famous classical old drugs for BP and mainly for mania then tegretol is the least harmful and this i read everywhere. So if you consider an MS then tegretol is your best bet.
Avatar f tn in 2000 i was diagonosed with biopolor disorder i had my assorment of drug theropy i ended with a cocktale of trileptal, trazadone and lexapro when i found out i was pregnat in 2004. They took me off all my meds and have been med free until about 6 months ago when i went completely off the wall...They then put me on lexapro and ativan.. I went to a psychiotrist 3 weeks ago who took me off both of those meds and put me on Seroquel 150mg and trileptal 1200mg.
728313 tn?1260459629 The long term side effect associated with taking Trileptal is liver damage. It must be monitored and a blood panel must be taken on a regular basis to make sure your liver is OK. I don't think 5 days would cause liver damage though (since the damage is associated with a long term build up in your system). Are you pregnant? Trileptal should not be taken if you're pregnant. Other than that, you should feel normal after a couple days of stopping the medication.
Avatar m tn The mood stabilizer I take now Clonidine is rarely used because it can cause depression and its a blood pressure medication in its original use with the potential of some severe side effects. I don't believe the medication Lovaza requires blood tests but like the rest of the mood stabilizers that would be listed its use as a mood stabilizer is experimental.
Avatar m tn Being female -- I can't answer your question about ED. I do know that I tried gabapentin -- didn't work, Tegretol (Carbamezepine) didn't work. But Trileptal worked well. It DID cause nausea and drowsiness. The pain doc said to take it a half-hour to an hour before eating and that resolve the nausea. He also advised taking a No-Doz (equal to 1 cup of coffee) along with the daytime doses -- and that took care of most of the drowsiness.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
Avatar n tn t have the same risk of blood dyscreias so there is no need for regular blood tests. Trileptal is gradually replacing Tegretol which is less in use now as Trileptal is much safer but has the same effect on mood stabilization. You should ask your psychiatrist about that. If you have any more questions about benefits issues ask me as I volunteer and do advocacy in that area. I'm sure there's a way you can find coverage.
491030 tn?1242424766 Ok I wouldn't take the Neurontin while you're taking the Trileptal as they serve basically the same purpose and combining them may have more adverse side effects than worth it. I'm not sure about Neurontin's effectiveness against opiate wds but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't do much. It's primarily an anti-seizure med but it's also used for pain relief even tho it has no narcotic properties whatsoever.
739070 tn?1338603402 The sodium levels are also low but the Trileptal or my diuretic could be the cause of that reading. We have started the weaning off process but the TN is trying to return so we are on the last week of taper of Trileptal and stating Neurontin and Cymbalta to replace it. My Ms neuro would prefer to keep me on a low dose of Trileptal for the TN and continue all the other meds. does this seems like excessive amount of drugs to be taking? Don't forget the nortriptyline and clonzepam too.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
Avatar m tn I am wondering if that was the cause of the numbness as I was coming off of the trileptal, since it lowers the amount of geodon in the blood. My reasoning and tell me if it is flawed is that as the trileptal came down the amount of geodon in the blood went up and it was too much and caused the numbness. I am really worried at this point and really need some help and answers. Please answer my question and I will get back to you with any other details. Thank you.
Avatar f tn s common or uncommon but its not rare. Trileptal is similar clinically but better in one way in that the blood test is not required. I found that lithium worked well but had some trouble tolerating it for other reasons that were physical but did very well on Lamictal especially on rapid cycling. Each person reacts diffferently though. Speak to your psychiatrist about what is going on and if other options might be considered.
Avatar n tn I have been dealing with 3 months of symptoms after a high fever/virus hit me-pressure feeling headaches behind th eyes/on the temple, very fatigued, and 2 episodes of blacking out. The black out episodes had my hand shaking for a few seconds uncontrollably. This doesn't sound like a sinus to me. I am having my follow up visit with the neuro in 4 days. I was given anti biotics as soon as they gave me the diagnosis.
2047903 tn?1330187549 My neuro ordered the typical blood tests for the disorders that mimic MS: lupus, Lyme's, B12, sarcoidosis etc. All have come back negative. So I guess the UBOs in my periventricular and deep white matter, subcortical, as well as the brainstem and cerebellum are a mystery. Today is the day I " up" my dose of Trileptal to get relief from this trigeminal neuralgia. Looks like a groggy weekend is ahead!I just wish I had some closure on what is going on right now.
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
Avatar m tn Review this site for manufacturer patient assistance programs: http://www.needymeds.org/index.htm And specifically for the drug Trileptal: http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?
Avatar n tn I had brain surgery when I was 14 years old after the blood vessels hemoraged. The surgery left scar tissue on my brain that began to cause seizures around 6 years ago. I have had petite and grand mal seizures. They typically would happen every 3-6 months. All of a sudden, with no changes to my meds or anything, they have increased to about 1 every few weeks or month.
Avatar m tn My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
Avatar f tn ve been taking Trileptal 300mg and Lexapro 10mg for over six years now and I did well for a while but about seven months ago started loosing my grip on the situation again. Please reply!
1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
