I haven't yet lost the weight I gained from Trileptal. In fact, my weight hasn't much changed at all in the weeks since I've stopped taking it. I would certainly like to loose the weight I gained while taking it though. I sure hope to very soon. It seems that many anti-epileptics cause weight gain, and other side effects.

Remember that nothing that works will be side effect free for everyone. Lamictal is weight neutral, and is great for bipolar II, and packs most of its weight against depression. Geodon and Abilify are also supposed to be weight neutral, Geodon a little more so than Abilify. Trileptal is weight neutral as well, but its use in bipolar is technically off-label.

i lost 4 kg in two weeks, my height is 173cm and my original weight was 74. please keep in mind that i am a sports guy at the age of forty i played tennis since i was 13 and never stopped i play, before the stroke, amost 8 hours per week.

Hi! I take abilify and trileptal and have no gained weight from those two. Hope this helps! Also, Zyprexa for me was super bad on the weight thing. I gained 20 lbs! Hope this helps.

We were just prescribed this for my son who is 8. He spent the last 3 years fighting outbursts which included throwing things, hitting others, screaming, crying, and not being able to cope with things he didnt like the answer to. He started Trileptal in August and we saw huge improvement. but 2 months ago the doc added Guanfacine and Clonidine to help. then things became bad again. And guanfacine is not easy to come off of. We lately we have had outburts like previous to trileptal.

I was lucky and after 3 procedures have been pain free and medication free for almost 4 years. So I was able to wean off the Trileptal under doctors orders.

I found Lamictal the most tolerable out of the 3 and it worked specifically on rapid cycling and mixed states and could not tolerate Tegretol, Trileptal and Depakoate because of personality changes (but that's a potential side effect of all anti-convulsants used as mood stabilizers including the one I take now) but each person responds differently to each medication although generally, side effect profile aside as it is the only medication approved as a mood stabilizer before any other usa

now the doc wants to put me back on low dose lithium along with a med to protect my kidneys and monitor them closely. i am curently on trileptal and seroquel but still have anxiety and hypomania. i don;t know what to do. has anyone had similar experiences with ect and/or with low dose lithium?

Yes here is a Lyrica user who changed from Gabapentin which initially made me put on 14 pounds which I then worked very hard to lose. I have been on Lyrica since the summer and the weight is creeping up and I have put on another 7lbs...but think this may also have something to do with Christmas. I think that many drugs can affect our weight and that it is important to be aware of this, keep exercising when possible and watch your diet.

I spoke to my doc and he has put me on Trileptal. He said that it does not lead to weight gain, but when I checked online, some sites say it leads to weight gain and others to weight loss. Could you tell me what it is actually? Is it weight loss or weight gain?

Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced swollen glands and itchy eyes when taking trileptal? I've only been on it now for 3wks and am currently on 75mg along with 375mg of Keppra twice daily. I don't have a rash but am wondering if this is just a cold or side effect from meds. I called the nurse yesterday at docs office they suggested being checked out by PMD, any suggestions? I dont have a fever or any other symptoms? Thanks for the feedback.

Hi, I'm new to the sight but have been doing research on Trileptal and MS. I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist?

Hi. I was diagnosed with ATN 14 years ago. The pain has been well-controlled with neurontin until 3 weeks ago. I had an exacerbation of pain, most likely brought on by dental work. The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now.

Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!

I was diagnosed with depression and generalized anxiety disorder about 10 years ago. During those 10 years I was prescribed a number of different combinations of medications like Risperdal, Trazadone, Paxil, Trileptal, Klonopin, Geodon, to name a few. Some of those combinations had horrible side effects and never really relieved my anxiety or depression. Now I'm on 112.5mg of Effexor ER, 200mg of Lamictal, 60 mg of Buspar, 1200 mg of Neurontin, 600mg of Seroquel and .

After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!

Thanks well my sub doctor is the one that gave me the rx fo WB so I guess is ok, and I was taking lexapro and trileptal and it was killing me weigh gain and no energy I mean nothing so Friday I ask my doctor to change it He wanted me to taper the trileptal (mood stabilizer) but of course I didn't listen is been 3 days of those and doing ok started the WB on Sat.

I seem to have more energy . Has anyone gained weight on this , and how does it work on the depression side of Bipolar 2 ? I'm so scared of medicine , but I have to have it or I cry constantly over the slightest thing . If anyone has any advice on the best mood stabilizer that doesn't cause weight gain or makes you want to die , PLEASE HELP ME !

currently 6ml in the a.m. and 8ml in the p.m. (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.

I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.

Is anyone taking Trileptal for Touretts and OCD combined. My 13 year old daughter does. Does not help as much as Abilfy but does not have the hunger issue either.

I have had Primary Progressive MS for over 16 years. It helps for some reason to put weight on my thighs and of course a blanket. I have a very good MS Dr and also a neurologist for my primary Dr. Just curious if anyone else is experiencing similar symptoms like with the thigh pain and cold.

I lost my medical insurance and need help with maintaining my prescription of Trileptal. I was told that the internet coupons may not be available in Maine where I live. Other assistance, maybe directly from manufacture? Only need assistance for 6 mos.

Ok so, I have been taking the's meds for like 2 months now. I am taking 150 mg of Zoloft and 1800 mg of Trileptal daily. I have been very emotional, like it's that time of the month but it's not, for the last week and for like 2 days now, just randomly I smell weird as ****... Like I was warming up some pizza rolls and it smelled like sweaty day old gym clothes and then I heated up something else and it smelled like day old pissy clothes... Is this normal??

I already have a metabolic disorder and cannot gain weight. Its very, very hard for me to lose weight. Anyway, I know it can cause vision problems, can make you high at times, bad headaches, etc. I already have migraines and acctually have not had the headaches yet that almost 90% of people get along with dizziness and weakness. I had bad vision problems and was legally blind w/o contacts or glasses.
