trileptal and skin rash

Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced swollen glands and itchy eyes when taking trileptal? I've only been on it now for 3wks and am currently on 75mg along with 375mg of Keppra twice daily. I don't have a rash but am wondering if this is just a cold or side effect from meds. I called the nurse yesterday at docs office they suggested being checked out by PMD, any suggestions? I dont have a fever or any other symptoms? Thanks for the feedback.

Hi. I was diagnosed with ATN 14 years ago. The pain has been well-controlled with neurontin until 3 weeks ago. I had an exacerbation of pain, most likely brought on by dental work. The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now.

I looked up Trileptal and it does not list paraesthesias or abnormal skin sensations as a side effect. I don't know if it will help your situation but when I rub the area where my occurs it seems to help, possibly by diverting some of the nerve sensation to the new stimulus- the rubbing of the skin in the surrounding area.

However, since this is day one of 100 mg, could this go away? LMK. Also, am on Trileptal (1800 mg/day, with 300 mg in am and 1500 mg in pm) and Xanax (between 1 1/2 to 2 mg/ day depending on anxiety symptoms). The doctor wants to get Lamictal into my system and then decrease Trileptal slowly as our next step. Anyway, any comments on these side effects? Thanks for your help!!

I was lucky and after 3 procedures have been pain free and medication free for almost 4 years. So I was able to wean off the Trileptal under doctors orders.

Hi, Tammy, I'm no stranger to TN, and it's rearing it's ugly head again, lately. I take a combination of Gabapentin, and Trileptal (a kin to Tegritol). Trileptal makes me dizzy, but if I ramp up very slowly, it becomes tolerable. So, I start with 300 mg each of G and T at bedtime, for three days. Then, I add the same doses in the morning, so that my morning and evening doses are 12 hours apart. I do this for three days, and then add a noon dose if necessary.

Hi, I'm new to the sight but have been doing research on Trileptal and MS. I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist?

Concerta and Trileptal are for ADHD and Mood Stabilizers usually for Anxiety yes. The Prevacid is a stomach acid reducer. Geodan is a bipolar medication. Depending on how long he has been on them, he may have an allergic reaction. Id research.

Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!

The day before yesterday he told me he was only taking one Trileptal a day because it made him too sleepy. When he brandished the bottle of Trileptal in my face as evidence he was taking them it seemed suspiciously full. Meanwhile he's been holed up in his room playing video games non-stop all hours of the night, sleeping all day. Leaves only to go to his PT job. His room is like a bat cave. Dark & gloomy.

Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your reply, I ve taken a holiday by the beach i went for swiming walking trying to laugh and forget about my problems and it helped a lot, Now with the calmepam i have reduced the dose gradually i started to take half of the tablet for 5 days then i stopped for 2 days then i started to take quarter of the tablet every two days till i stopped now (almost from 5 days) is it okay?.

After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!

currently 6ml in the a.m. and 8ml in the p.m. (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.

i say my new neoro today and he wanted me to look at 3 other meds(lamictal, topomax, and trileptal) and they all have just as bad or more side effects including severe acne. ive been trying to ghave a good attitude but its starting to get to me and it has almost eliminated my social life. i dont care what ppl think. acne does make a difference and i dont think a good looking girl would like me with my face all messed up.

I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.

Is anyone taking Trileptal for Touretts and OCD combined. My 13 year old daughter does. Does not help as much as Abilfy but does not have the hunger issue either.

I lost my medical insurance and need help with maintaining my prescription of Trileptal. I was told that the internet coupons may not be available in Maine where I live. Other assistance, maybe directly from manufacture? Only need assistance for 6 mos.

Ok so, I have been taking the's meds for like 2 months now. I am taking 150 mg of Zoloft and 1800 mg of Trileptal daily. I have been very emotional, like it's that time of the month but it's not, for the last week and for like 2 days now, just randomly I smell weird as ****... Like I was warming up some pizza rolls and it smelled like sweaty day old gym clothes and then I heated up something else and it smelled like day old pissy clothes... Is this normal??

I went thru this painful bleeding rash on my arms and legs for years..ugh its just awful. Went to every skin Dr and they were stumped..well I just had thyroid surgery to remmove toxic nodule and half my thyroid...guess what? The rash is finally clearing up all by it self now! Yaaaaay! Tell you Dr about it and insist you get your thyroid treated..myself I recomend the surgery over the radiation. A litter more painful but much safer esp for those of us with thyroid rash!

I would definitely pay attention to any rash. I have been on synthyroid for years and because of a comment I made to my doctor about feeling low on energy, we switch my regular medication routine to include cytomel. What a mistake - Within 3 days I noticed a rash, by day five it was causing sever grief in several areas of my body - the wrists, thighs and around my vagina. I have been miserable. Called doctor and 2 days ago took myself off cytomel.

Lamictal tends to cause a benign rash in 1/10 people, but the incidence of SJS (the really bad rash) is around 1/3000, and the risk is higher in children and if you go up too fast. Some doctors are willing to retry it even if a rash developed the first time, taking it verrrrrry slowly (you can start in the pediatric range), especially if it was working really well for you before the rash appeared. Not all doctors (or patients) are willing to do this, though. Your mileage may vary.

I have been on Trileptal for about 4 years now. I began it because I had trouble with sleepiness and general fatigue on Tegretol, and the blood tests bothered me. At first Trileptal worked, but the effect lessened over time as I built up tolerance and we (doc and I) kept tweaking it until I was on 1800 mg a day and it still wasn't really working. I also have generalized anxiety disorder, so she added Xanax into the mix.

Side effects in the hemic/lyphm systems include for the test group reported ecchymosis (bruise or contusion under the skin) in 8% of the test group and thrombocytopenia Low platelet count) in >1/100 patients in another clinical trial. There was no mention of lowered WBC count.

I just started taking oxcarbazepine 9 days ago and I built up to 300 mg,no high not even close.Not like with other drugs like oxycontin, were with in 30 min you get a buzz.I guess you have to take higher doses if thats were you want to go,but I dont know.

My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
