Avatar f tn Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced swollen glands and itchy eyes when taking trileptal? I've only been on it now for 3wks and am currently on 75mg along with 375mg of Keppra twice daily. I don't have a rash but am wondering if this is just a cold or side effect from meds. I called the nurse yesterday at docs office they suggested being checked out by PMD, any suggestions? I dont have a fever or any other symptoms? Thanks for the feedback.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new to the sight but have been doing research on Trileptal and MS. I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist?
Avatar m tn I lost my medical insurance and need help with maintaining my prescription of Trileptal. I was told that the internet coupons may not be available in Maine where I live. Other assistance, maybe directly from manufacture? Only need assistance for 6 mos.
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
Avatar n tn hey my diagnoses is bipolar depression i take 150 zoloft,50naltrexone,60mg inderol,trileptal 900,stelazine 6mg,cogentin 0.
Avatar n tn Talk to your doctor or psychiatrist about it. My guess is no. Trileptal is an anti-convulsant, and Abilify is specifically for mental illnesses. They would work differently due to their drug classes and targeted illnesses. If Abilify is working for you, then you probably shouldn't switch unless it's a price issue that's really making things hard for you.
Avatar f tn I have MS and I'm on venlafaxine, but for pre-existing depression. I can't really speak to it in the context it's been prescribed for you, but I do recommend a slow titration of the dose. I remember starting out and getting pretty nauseous on 75mg. The reduced me to 37.5mg and then slowly raised it to the 112.5mg I've been on for a few years now.
1108262 tn?1273179266 I have been on Trileptal for about 4 years now. I began it because I had trouble with sleepiness and general fatigue on Tegretol, and the blood tests bothered me. At first Trileptal worked, but the effect lessened over time as I built up tolerance and we (doc and I) kept tweaking it until I was on 1800 mg a day and it still wasn't really working. I also have generalized anxiety disorder, so she added Xanax into the mix.
Avatar n tn ve stopped taking trileptal (for mood stablizer) and experiencing ear ringing and tremors. Can one ever find something that works????
5032487 tn?1365824021 No weight gain and no side effects, however can also have the opposite effect and may make depression worse. I am not bipolar but have been doing research since my husband was diagnosed. Definitely talk with your doctor. Best of luck!
2047903 tn?1330187549 I was lucky and after 3 procedures have been pain free and medication free for almost 4 years. So I was able to wean off the Trileptal under doctors orders.
664798 tn?1225821618 Curse, The meds I was on at that time were: Dilantin 300Mg at night Darvocette 100Mg as needed Sertraline (?) once at night (a light brown pill) Flexeril 3-10 Mg at night Xanax 4Mg at night 3 Mg melatonin at night Lyrica 150 Mg at night 325 Mg aspirin each morning I'm now off the Sertraline and Darvocette ( somehow it hasn't effected my depression, if anything it's gotten better).....I had also had some hydrocodone and percocette right before that,......
Avatar n tn t get it, and I know Medicaid is only a temporary solution. I desperately want to have health and life insurance and feel as though I have no options. Any suggestions?
207227 tn?1271416978 We went to a child psychiatrist who diagnosed her with nonspecific mood disorder and prescribed Trileptal. I was concerned about giving her the meds and decided to go the route of counseling. At this point, I am thinking of trying the meds. I am concerned about side effects and how children do on this medication. Does anyone have experience with this drug in children? I am also wondering if she really needs it. Is this a life stress situation or an actual mood disorder. Concerned.

Avatar f tn His neurologist recently added Trileptal to balance his levels because he was having seizures so often. His therapist also prescribed him Celexal and Elavil for depression medication due to bipolar disorder. Now it seems that the 2 anti-depressants have a side effect of seizures, which causes him to seize more than usual. Should the 4 meds be mixed, Keppra, Celexa, Elavil and Trileptal?
Avatar n tn I have not actually been given more than a hazy diagnosis. No offense intended to the professionals, but, every psychiatrist seems to hedge when I ask what my diagnosis is, or why the particular med is being prescribed and what it will do.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
222267 tn?1253302210 Yes, I am taking Oxcarbazephine. I have taken so many medications in the past 3+ years. I was weaned off all of them and put on this drug. I started with 600 mg, upped to 1200 mg. I had "break through" depression and was upped to 1600 mg. (I took myself back to 1200 mg thinking I would be just fine . . . mistake!) The last couple of weeks, I was slipping back into mania, but didn't realize it. Last Sunday, I woke up in the pits of a very dark depression - very dark.
420308 tn?1203041262 I also am bipolar depressive and was on Effexor, which pooped, then Paxil and 600mg Seroquel. I went from 130 to 180 in 6 months and was having ongoing panic attacks. Day and night for an entire year. I'll tell you what made the panic attacks and depression go away. I quit antidepressants and sloooooly tapered off the seroquel. It was remarkable. The antidepressants were making me crazy. The awful anxiety slowly got better, although not all the way.
Avatar f tn I am feeling depression and agitation right now too. I have been dreading getting up in the morning. I have never been diagnosed with bi-polar, only GAD. I feel like I might have conversion disorder, I constantly have these bad physical symptoms. I haven't tried many medications except anti-depressants, but for me this comes and goes, when I feel this bad I know I will have to eventually feel the opposite later, so that is what I have to look forward too.
Avatar n tn currently 6ml in the a.m. and 8ml in the p.m. (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.
