Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal and cymbalta

trileptal

Avatar f tn Hi, I have suffered with migraines for many years & was placed on prophylactic meds-Cymbalta & Propranolol. About 3 months ago I developed Trigeminal Neuritis on my R side. I have to say it was the most painful affliction I ever experienced, even worse than the 2 spinal fusions I underwent! I was placed on Trileptal & am up to 600mg 2x/day, as well as continuing with Cymbalta & Propranolol.
Avatar f tn I currently take Trileptal (oxcarazepine) for TN and leg pain in addition to nortriptyline. At the dose I am on there are few side effects. Higher doses of nortriptyline caused too much dry mouth as did amitripline. Other drugs include Cymbalta. I don't remember with certainty but I think there is a page on MS drugs and one on paraesthias. Good luck as you try to find the right combination. The different trials of combinations are worth the effort in the end.

1655815 tn?1306930462 I'M SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR PAIN AND BURNING SENSATIONS. dOUBLEVISION LISTED SOME GOOD DRUGS THAT CAN AUGMENT THE LYRICA. I TAKE CYMBALTA AND IT DOES HELP AS DOES NORTRIPTYLINE. I ALSO TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR FACE PAIN. I HOPE YOU CAN FIND SOME HELP SOON!!!
1322901 tn?1274615330 I was put on cymbalta last october and it has seemed to hep tremedously with the hip and leg pain.... Maybe it might help.
Avatar f tn Anyway we should all be involved in our medical care and decisions. If you are offered Lyrica, Cymbalta, Neurontin, Gabapentin or Trileptal and you are not comfortable with them or more importantly they were not effective in the past than they should not be forced upon you. Ask for alternative medications. I do hope you understand that those medications often DO work on pain, even though they may not have been originally designed for that purpose.

Avatar n tn i have had atypical tgn for 10 years since i was 26. mri showed nothing and after carbomazapine for 8 months had no symptoms apart from the odd twinge for years. for the last 2 months it has got really bad but would rather not go back on carbomazapine. Is this the best treatment? At the moment just using co dydramol though it just takes edge off rather than really helping. what should i do?
2047903 tn?1330187549 I was lucky and after 3 procedures have been pain free and medication free for almost 4 years. So I was able to wean off the Trileptal under doctors orders.
306867 tn?1299249709 m so happy with this post because I been feeling the same way about anti depressants and I been messing with them since I went off the pain pills my doctor put me on lexapro and trileptal and the same problem that ChiChi said so stopped the trileptal and change to Wellbutirin bad decision so now I'm stopping everything I will do the amino acid protoccol and see how that works for me but no more prescriptions for me just sub (for now) and my nexium (I have to have that)
Avatar f tn Since October I have tried Lortab (3 strengths), gabapentin, Lyrica, Ultram, Relafen, Zonegran, and Trileptal. I am also on Cymbalta and Ambien. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Each drug reacts differently with each person. I could not take Lyrica. I switched to Trileptal and had no side effect issues. There are other choices. My MS Specialist sent me to a pain clinic. I was on so many drugs it was not funny. The pain clinic found the right drugs for me. It took some trial and error over a year but I have gone from 21 drugs down to 4-5 I take all the time.
283893 tn?1287323169 I have been on 2400mg trileptal for over a year (have tried over the past two and a half years neurontin, dilantin, tegretol, lyrica also amitrytaline, nortryptaline and cymbalta) and no longer find that to hold back the pain. I now am on prednisone as well as the trileptal and at 40mg this seems to hold the pain and whooshing sound back for most of the day, provided I am not exposed for too long to any of my known stimuli. Any suggestions?

Avatar f tn Just wanted to ask if anyone has experienced swollen glands and itchy eyes when taking trileptal? I've only been on it now for 3wks and am currently on 75mg along with 375mg of Keppra twice daily. I don't have a rash but am wondering if this is just a cold or side effect from meds. I called the nurse yesterday at docs office they suggested being checked out by PMD, any suggestions? I dont have a fever or any other symptoms? Thanks for the feedback.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new to the sight but have been doing research on Trileptal and MS. I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist?
Avatar n tn I was 90 mg of Cymbalta and 300 mg of Seroquel daily for 5 years and it had gotten to the point where my legs would just give out and I would fall and I was in pain continuously...so I went off all the medications and the falling and weakness in my legs eventually stopped but I am still in terrible pain...
Avatar n tn Hi. I was diagnosed with ATN 14 years ago. The pain has been well-controlled with neurontin until 3 weeks ago. I had an exacerbation of pain, most likely brought on by dental work. The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar f tn I take nortriptyline, gabapentin, Trileptal and Cymbalta. Others taken different combinations that work well for them. It is a process of trail and error though. Again, welcome and feel free to ask about anything...nothing is really off-limits unless it is disparaging to others.
Avatar n tn Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your reply, I ve taken a holiday by the beach i went for swiming walking trying to laugh and forget about my problems and it helped a lot, Now with the calmepam i have reduced the dose gradually i started to take half of the tablet for 5 days then i stopped for 2 days then i started to take quarter of the tablet every two days till i stopped now (almost from 5 days) is it okay?.
Avatar f tn She takes cymbalta for nerve damage and pain and it helps with a number of things you listed vibrations vertigo etc, is also a anti depressant and it gives you energy. She is also taking neurontin for nerve pain as well as vicodin when it gets really bad. I hope this is some use to you.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
Avatar n tn currently 6ml in the a.m. and 8ml in the p.m. (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
