Avatar f tn I’ve had what appears to be balanitis for 8 months now. I’m uncircumcised. I’ve tried ketoconaznole, triamcinolone, hydrocortisone, nystatin& triamcinolone. Also used basic lotions etc. basically nothing has worked. The most recent dermatologist I saw said that I have balanitis that turned into dermal hyper sensitivity/ a sensitized skin. He prescribed desonide ointment that didn’t work and also prednisone. Gave me some epiceram cream as well.
Avatar n tn For three months now I have been suffering tremendously and still need to go back to th doctor as the rash comes back after the Prednisone wears off. I have already contacted VS and so far, they said the are sending me an envelope for me to send them my presumably formaldehyde-poisoned bras! I would really appreciate any information on who to contact.
Avatar m tn The second possible diagnosis was an allergy, this time treated by tapered prednisone tratmen for 12 days. The prednisone seemed to help but on the 10th day of tratment the itching returned. Now my doctor has advised using Triamcinolone Acetonide cream on the rash twice a day, but after 5 days still no success. Has anyone had a similar problem and found what the solution to curing it was??? Thanks for your help!
Avatar m tn Decadron® (dexamethasone) 4 mg is not the therapeutic equivalent of Kenalog® (triamcinolone acetonide) 80 mg. Using the Lexi-Calc corticosteroid conversion formula, the ratio of the 2 would be close to 5:1. So it would take Decadron® (dexamethasone) 16 mg to be approximately the equivalent of Kenalog® (triamcinolone acetonide) 80 mg.
Avatar m tn My dermatologist will only give me 2 steriod triamcinolone shots a year. I am well aware of what the side effects are but I dont care. Do any of you doctors out there give more than 2 a year? The shot seems to only work for about 3 months than I have to wait and suffer since cream and oitments dont work anymore and have horrible cosmetic side effects. I am a healthy 21 year old mal and have had this for 5 years on my face. Never had it as a child and no one in my family history.
Avatar m tn I have been on cetirizine for several years for itchy hands and feet, the dermatographism seemed to be connected to the intake of cetirizine and lessened in severity when I changed my allergy pill or stopped all together. I was given rounds of Prednisone, shots, Triamcinolone Acetonide 1% cream which causes periorbital dermatitis. That lead to having to take four weeks of minocycline. I now will have spontaneous eruptions of a red itchy rash with small raised bumps mostly on my torso or arms.
461838 tn?1255790216 I am on and off prednisone and can never sleep when I am on it. It is a great drug for healing but can cause insomnia.
Avatar m tn The rash was looking a bit different and they thought it was a fungal rash and perscribed atarax, clotrimazole cream usp, 1% and triamcinolone acetonide cream .01% I used that and put vasaline on top of it and it went away. About three weeks ago it came back the doctor told me it was contact dermatitis and perscribed triamcinolone acetonide .025% lotion it got worse. I am thinking it is a reaction to one of my medications geodon.
Avatar n tn ) Is there anything besides Prednisone? I was on 5mg of Prednisone earlier this year (in place of Imuran), but my liver enzymes were very bad according to the lab work I had done at the time. Would a higher dose of Prednisone be an option? Is that also harmful to a developing baby? Thank you for your help!!
Avatar f tn Feel like chiggers but no red dot in center? Several neighbors got this. Steroid shot and 6 days of prednisone along with rubbing on cortisone cream and Lamisil in case it was a fungus. It finally cleared up a week and a half after shot. My brother only used Triamcinolone cream and it cleared in a few days. Is something airborne...maybe from chem trails. None of our doctors ever saw anything like it. Mine looked like mosquito bites that enlarged and turned to welts.
1378884 tn?1315505845 I also have a workplace injury, fell on sacrum and R hip last November. I am starting a course of prednisone for 30 days. Never had problems with hip, (pain is radiating to my foot) or back until I fell. Is the Doc trying to rule out RA or Osteo for my R hip? I understand that prednisone is a inflammation reducer and autoimmune suppressor. He found a deposit on the bone near hip as well. MRI tomorrow too.
Avatar n tn , I went to an InstaCare here and a physician (Internal Medicine) prescribed a 5 day course of Prednisone 40 mg with Atarax 25 mg. I also took a Zyrtec once a day. These meds never resolved the sunburn like sensation over the affected areas. Never really getting the rash handled. In January of this year, I saw my doctor (Internal Medicine) and he suggested some blood tests checking my vitamin levels. All but one of the tests came back in the normal range.
Avatar n tn My husband is suffering for severe burning sensation from jock itch...but not sure if it is really a jock itch since 2 weeks.Red raches has faded but the burning hasn't gone yet.He can't sleep whole day and night. He is using Triamcinolone cream usp,0.5% and also cleaning with ice water and also using moisturiser. He is suffering so much....please help.
Avatar n tn Like anything else it is a risk vs benefit decision that your physician should help you decide. It also depends on what you need the steroids for and what is the method of administration. For example, taking a drug like prednisone has a much bigger chance of adverse effects on the virus than does a steroid injection for a trigger finger, for example. You really need to chat with your doctor about this.
Avatar f tn With oral prednisone the problem is risk vs. benefit. Prednisone affects different people in different ways. It can cause a flare-up of tuberculosis that is in remission or osteomyelitis. In the case of a diabetic, it can completely shut down the immune system. In a person with normal glucose levels the same dose for a person of given weight may only partially compromise the system. Prednisone has other problems. It is a polypeptide, and a signaling substance.

Avatar n tn So I switched from prednisone to corfef because the prednisone bothered by stomach. The prednisone worked great, but now the cortef doesn't seem to work that well for me. I have only been on it for a few days. Am I feeling weird because the prednisone takes a while before going out of my system? I am wondering if I should have just stuck with the prednisone, even though it bothered my stomach because I felt good on that. Thank you to those who always answer my questions!!!!
Avatar m tn Visual diagnosis 3 years ago as plaque psoriasis in the genital area and prescribed Triamcinolone cream 1%. When I felt itchy, I began using the cream immediately. Within a week to 2 weeks of using a small amount of the cream daily my skin healed. Unfortunately it would recur within about a month. Visited derm dr. recently and he diagnosed as herpes. I have not used the cream and have had a lot of pain and outbreak in the same 2 sites.
Avatar f tn 86% vs. 24% in prior relapsers, 57% vs. 15% in prior partial responders and 31% vs. 5% in prior null responders. Best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn Her liver numbers were going down on high doses of Prednisone, but as we wean down on that and introduce immunosuppressive drugs, her liver numbers are climbing fast again. So we are going back up on Predisone now and not increasing the immunosuppressive drugs just yet. I am concerned, because I know Prednisone is not a long-term-use drug. I am wondering if she needs to see a hepatologist instead of her gastroenterologist, or if they are pretty much one in the same?
Avatar f tn We sought the advice of a dermatologist who put him on an extended dose of prednisone and triamcinolone acetonide cream 0.1%. The rash went away after about a week. The next week he was patch tested using T.R.U.E. He had mild to moderate reactions to nickel, neomycin, mercapto and fragrances. A new skin condition has recently appeared on both hands with blisters and peeling skin. We are currently using Aquaphor at night with gloves which seems to be helping.
