Avatar n tn Note that when you have laser treatment it destroys the veins so the blood will go to other veins and the problem will most likely return.
1907180 tn?1329450777 The unfortunate reality is that most pregnant women will have some degree of failure in their leg veins at least during the pregnancy. This is due to multiple factors that all produce challenges. The volume of circulating blood increases substantially. Hormones that allow the uterus to stretch and expand also allow leg veins to do the same, making the valves in these vessels incompetent.

Avatar f tn Varicose veins are painful, I would mention it to your doc as they will be able to tell the difference between them and blood clots, I'm nlt sure that blood clots are usually visible, but you are def better to get them checked out. There are treatments for varicose veins in injection form which really hell, but I'm not sure if that could be done while you are pregmant. Your doc will be able to advise best.

Avatar n tn Few predisposing factors for developing varicose veins are prolonged standing or sitting, chronic constipation, menstrual cycle, birth control pills/estrogen replacement therapy, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, pregnancy etc.It may not be possible to determine the exact cause of your symptoms without a detailed evaluation. Lifestyle changes and certain medical procedures can help in relieving some of the symptoms. The goals of treatment are to relieve symptoms, improve complications.
Avatar f tn Anyone else having trouble with them? They run in my family and I got them for the first time halfway through my first pregnancy and now in my second pregnancy they are "flared" up. Avatar n tn Varicose veins during pregnancy aren't permanent, but some may linger after pregnancy. The best way to keep them from becoming permanent is to exercise, such as walking and stretching. The key is not to become stagnant, sit or lay around, causing a lack of circulation. The best to you and your pregnancy!
419126 tn?1242412170 i seriously never thought of this. should i be worried? i had the varicose veins with my first pregnancy as well.... and i never had an issue during labour. my crotch is almost always swollen and has been for months... so im assuming that i have a lot of varicose veins. has anyone ever had a vein burst?
Avatar f tn Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins. Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That's because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems. Treatment may involve self-care measures or procedures by your doctor to close or remove veins.
Avatar f tn Seems like we share a few common things besides varicose veins. Only discovered I was preg at 14 weeks and am 27 weeks now and wld really want vbac but read somewhere saying they usually start inside so was also worried about obstruction of baby.
Avatar n tn Horse chestnut is the best-known natural treatment for varicose veins. It helps prevent swelling and strengthens capillary and vein walls. The usual dose is 300 mg a day. Side effects are pretty rare, but if you start feeling itchy or nauseous, taper back your dose. Nature’s Way has a widely available, quality product I generally recommend. Grape seed extract also supports the walls of blood vessels. Take 150 to 300 mg in divided doses over the course of a day.
Avatar f tn Sclerotherapy is another common treatment for both spider veins and varicose veins. In this procedure with the help of a needle a liquid chemical is injected into the vein. This causes swelling in vein and collapsing .This stops the flow of blood, and the vein turns into scar tissue. This procedure can be done without general anesthesia and does not lead to inference in the daily activities. Laser techniques can help in curing small varicose veins. Discuss these possibilities with your doctor.
Avatar n tn I used them to try to cut back on swelling during my first pregnancy and they helped with that. I've heard they are great for varicose veins, but can't say from personal experience. I've seen them at CVS, I'm pretty sure.
Avatar f tn No, they are more of a cosmetic issue, but then to pop up during pregnancy because our bodies are pumping extra blood through our system.

484932 tn?1226513291 Hi. Sounds like you are inthe final grueling weeks. I don't knwo the answers about the purpura. I have some varicose veins too and didn't see andy change during treatment. I am not sure if you are saying there was a change or you have always had blots of purple --however, you should probably ask your primary care doctor about them. I do think I know what you are saying about your back though. During treatment my back was highly sensitive, especially around the neck.
