Avatar m tn Also the best treatment of eczema is use of moisturizers which should be applied in a thin layer on the eczematous patch. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn My son (15 months) was diagnosed w/ Eczema early on, but nothing the doctor's (pediatrician, allergist, dermatologist) suggested/prescribed has helped much. I've always suspected it was something in his diet which triggered the outbreaks and found tomatoes and oranges made it worst. However, even after avoiding these, something would still set off his ezcema. What do these fruits have in common...Citric Acid! Than I realized so many things he'd consumed contained citric acid...
1486289 tn?1315842255 ve found the aveeno line of products to be EXTREMELY helpful and it has helped us to minimize the use of topical steroids. Aveeno does make a line of products for infants. There is also an infant eczema cream tho I'm not sure of the brand..it's in a pale green and white tube though.
Avatar n tn Is there any safe product for infants to help with the itching. Is Sarna Sensitive safe? some drs say it is ok, some say it isn't safe for babies. Thanks so much. PS is allergic to oats--so oatmeal baths are out!
1395422 tn?1308016251 I have never experienced any type of eczema until now. It does run in my family, my mom has asthma and my baby has eczema. It is now to the point that I cringe when I have to feed him on that side. Can somebody tell me what to do to help ease the pain and/or make this go away. Also if anyone on here could share their experience with this, that would be nice. Thanks so much.
Avatar m tn You may like to try Lemsip which is mixed in a mug full of hot water, it comes in blackcurrant and lemon flavours. Drinking freshly squeezed lemon juice with honey in hot water is very soothing. If you feel congested, rub Vick on your throat and chest or do steam inhalations 4 times a day for 10 minutes each time. The doctor will only prescribe an antibiotic if you get a bacterial infection. Tamiflu as I understand it was used for the Swine Flu.
Avatar n tn s skin to a special blue light, which breaks bilirubin down into parts that are easier to eliminate in the stool and urine. Treatment with phototherapy is successful for most infants. Phototherapy is usually done in the hospital, but in select cases, it can be done in the home if the baby is healthy and at low risk of complications. Infants undergoing phototherapy should have as much skin exposed to the light as possible.
1361044 tn?1277598308 Honestly, in my opinion, babies are so wrapped up in this new world, all the new things going in for them, that a little cold (virus) hardly slows them down. it could be your baby is behind because she doesn't feel well all the time, and THAT is holding her back. Maybe not, but in either case I would push for them to figure it out. Chalking it all down to a virus is a lazy, sorry excuse. My point is, YOU DO know your child more than anyone.
Avatar n tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.
Avatar f tn Hello, Seborrheic dermatitis is usually found in infants but it can effect healthy adults also esp. due to changes in humidity, changes in seasons, trauma (e.g. scratching), or emotional stress. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases.
Avatar f tn Treatment is with glucocorticoid (a corticosteroid steroid) ointments, creams or lotions. They do not cure eczema, but are highly effective in controlling or suppressing symptoms in most cases. Since Alcortin contains anti-bacterial, anti-fungal as well as steroid medications it would be safe to use this to treat the condition with this. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn Was your son also tested for the actual thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4? If not, he should be. TSH levels are, typically, higher in infants; what was the range given on the lab report? Your son must have adequate thyroid hormones in order to grow and develop normally; treatment is just as effective and necessary in infants, as it is in adults.
Avatar n tn He has been finished with the treatment for 3 weeks and with the Elidil and dipping him in Aquaphor 3 times per day he has not had anymore than just a "dry patch" appearing here and there which I combat with the Elidil, Momentasone and Mimyx and the usual Aquaphor regimine. He also takes Atarax 2 to 3 tsps per day for his allergies. Is this wonderfully clear skin still associated with the low dose steroids? Could I be so lucky to be keeping it at bay after all of these years?
Avatar m tn Specialist A says there is no harm in full correction. I have high myopia myself but still I do not know which treatment plan to follow for him.
Avatar n tn In your earlier post you had mentioned thjat they itch sometimes,so I thought of pityriasis rosea in the first place. For the eczema, wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin.In addition to the antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin, a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g.
1221025 tn?1266842580 Hello, The symptoms are suggestive of eczema. In most cases of eczema no one treatment will be effective. Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. My sincere advice is to follow up the treatment that you have been prescribed by your dermatologists.
Avatar n tn It will come and go for the rest of your life. Balantis is just eczema on the penis. Do you have eczema any where else? Cortisone cream should clear it up. Apply twice a day for a week. If you came in contact with something that you are allergic to it will clear up as long as you don't come in contact with the substance again.
Avatar n tn She prescribed 1% hydrocortisone cream bid and recommended Aveeno Baby soap for washing his face. We are to f/u in 2 weeks. Thanks again for your help.
Avatar m tn But then, we noticed eczema. So we quit the dairy once again, and the eczema went away, for the most part. (I was still breastfeeding, and wasn't eating dairy free). Then at I'd say around 18 months, we introduced milk again, and noticed he no longer got eczema or hives. We though WOO HOO! We were so wrong! We had so much health troubles with him. Ear infections, sinus infections, colds, fevers, constipation (my other daughter who is also allergic gets diahrea).

Medical research shows that the most effective treatment plan for eczema involves using a combination of therapies to treat the skin and making lifestyle changes(prevention of triggers and application of lots of moisturizers) to control flare-ups. If the eczema is more severe, phototherapy (a type of treatment that uses light therapy) or systemic (circulates throughout the body) medication like oral steroids may be prescribed.
Avatar m tn Basically a doctor told me I had some sort of eczema on my eyelid and I was to use some hydrocortonise cream. Of course being silly I decided to use it and soon noticed my eyelid started to change... I stopped using the cream and went back to the doctor to which he then told me to just moisturise and it just by fine. My eyelid still wasn't okay though....

Avatar m tn I would apply Hydrocortisone in the morning and Protopic in the evening. I did this for one week and made pretty decent progress. Much more progress then 10 months of strictly only Protopic use. I returned to the doctor today after 1 week of Hydrocortisone + Protopic and he told me he didn't think that Protopic was effective and to switch to twice a day Hydrocortisone 1% for 7 more days and then stop all steroid use and return and re-evaluate. I suppose my question is as follows.
