Other than depression, Cymbalta is more used in treating Fibromyalgia or Diabetic Neuropothy pain. It is not so widely used in chronic pain such as yours. The host of side effects it comes with is also a concern to me..Some of which include suicidal tendencys.

The medications they have me on are for treating fibromyalgia but they are not saying that is what I have. My pain management dr thinks it may be from my treatment so he is sending me to a rheumatologist. I have tried the tramadol but I found myself in the bathroom at work crying my eyes out, begging the pain to stop. That is why I went back to the Norcos. I work long hours in a factory and my job is very demanding. Im sorry to hear of so many suffering, but it helps to know I am not alone.
If Lyrica worked for you, then start the fight with the insurance company. Either find a doctor that will write you the letter for it, or talk with your doctor about the fact that it worked, and you need his help for recommendation. Insurance companies suck for this, but I have fought with mine countless times for medication, and they usually give in. Dont give up! I would ask your doctor why he wouldn't recommend the medication if it was working?

I am a chronic pain patient, I have fibromyalgia, arthritis and have severe nerve damage on the right side of my face/head and I have been on 20 mg of oxycontin 3 times a day and 5 mg of Percocet for breakthrough pain for about 3 years now. The doctor that I'm seeing now has never given my any hassle getting a script....up until my appt Monday.
Has any one information on people with fibromyalgia who got better by treating Orthostatic Intolerance?

Without u saying how much and how long u r taking the meds it is difficulte to speculate.In doing some reading I found u should only take 2 tablets in a 24 hr period...and with plenty of water.And if u do not have results in 2 weeks u should stop the meds and see ur dr.
Sometimes a dr will rx for u to take the meds differently than reccommended by the manufactuer. Again, u should speak with ur dr.
The duration u r on the drug and dosage is very important.
I agree, a cardiac workup would be the first step, along with some general blood work to help rule out other serious illnesses.
Presuming all of those come back within normal liimits, it's possible that your brother is suffering from fibromyalgia and/or chronic fatigue symdrome. Some of the main symptoms of fibro and CF are widespread pain and unrelenting fatigue. The pain and fatigue can be quite severe and debilitating.

You could see a rheumatologist who specialize with fibromyalgia, but make sure that the rheumatologist is reputable, that is, that the doctor is with a major University or a major medical facility. There is still a lot of ignorance among some doctors about fibromyalgia.
