Common Questions and Answers about Travatan bak free

travatan

Avatar m tn Travaprost has preservatives and maybe BAK. They do make a preservative free drug in the same family (Latanoprost), in the US it is sold under name Zioptin. It can be expensive for some insurance plans. Another option would be to put the travaprost in 15-30 minutes before bedtime and at bedtime put an overnight lubricant in like: Refresh PM or other GEL lubricant.
Avatar m tn m now prescribed Travatan and Timogel which are both BAK free and I now have no pain but, of course, the damage has been done. I have an appointment on Monday for corneal topographical mapping to assess whether a contact lens is likely to help.
Avatar m tn t think that the active ingredients cause the problem, but what about the Benzalkonium Chloride (BAK) that is the preservative in the drops, could that cause the problem? has there been any research done on this?
Avatar m tn Eye will not even hold one drop. Xalatan has a perservative BAK that can irritate eye. Discuss with your ophthalmologist. You may need switched to Travatan Z which is both stronger and gentler on the eye. The IOP in your eye changes hourly so there is no "safe" IOP.
709537 tn?1232584855 Hello, My husband is concerned about side effect he is experiencing since starting Travatan eye drops. In the process of diagnosing possible glaucoma He has been prescribed Travatan [travoprost opthalmic solution) 0.004% 1 gtts Left Eye per day. On day 3 of using these drops he is experiencing the following symptoms: tenderness of the eye [feels bruised when touching lid].
Avatar n tn I had surgery and a stent was placed in my right eye. I have been taking Travatan Z drops from June until yesterday (10/13/16). I had an appointment with my eye doctor yesterday and he told me to stop taking the Travatan drops. I have noticed eyelash growth. I have discovered this is a side effect of the drops. Most of what I read says once the drops are discontinued, the eyelash growth is reversible. What does that mean? How is it reversible?
Avatar n tn I have not been cleared by my doctor to discontinue the nightly Travatan Z drop .....The surgeon turns his patients over to a optometrist in the practice for continued cataract care, so I haven't seen my doctor since the surgery. In a few days, I have an appointment with a rheumatologist (new patient) and plan to request corticosteroid shots in two fingers and foot. Do you believe there would be a problem with me having the shots? Or any other rheumatoid arthritis meds? Thank you....
Avatar n tn He changed the drops to Travatan. But the pain is still present after using travatan for like 2 weeks. What else can be the cause? What else should I try to find out?
493068 tn?1224765315 My opthalmologist just gave me Lotemax reluctantly because of glaucoma. Is this rosacea suppose to be this paiful? I take Doxy daily, Travatan, erythromycin eye ointment. I am just at my wits end. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Chronic angle closure is diagnosed with gonioscopy and the treatment is a laser PI. BAK causes a problem if you are allergic to it. Xalatan can cause redness of your eyes. This should have been discussed with you by your doctor when you started it. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn And the new doctor suggested to use Travatan. Is there any difference between Latanoprost and Travatan?
Avatar n tn For example, if you have Medicare and your income/2 is below $29,140, Pfizer will provide the medication for free. The trick is you have to submit a hardship form along w/application. Call them at (800) 707-8990 and tell them you have Medicare and they will send the form with the application. You don't have to be in the coverage gap. Also call if you don't have insurance. Xalatan is similar to Travatan or Lumigan--these are used 1st line often these days.
Avatar m tn Also are minimally invasive glaucoma procedures such as Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) now considered a good option to reduce the use of eyedrops with BAK preservative that over time can negatively affect the ocular surface?
493068 tn?1224765315 I have been on and off Doxycyline for over a year and about a week off of it the rosacea comes back worse than ever. I am using erthromycin ointment and Restasis. I use Travatan Z for the glaucoma. I do the lid scrubs religiously because I have chronic blephritis. What are we missing? Thanks you so much!
Avatar m tn t find the article again ( net ) or any like it . I was on Travatan and Kosopt ( one drop each ) that reduced OP to under 20 for open angle Glaucoma--vision went from 20-30 best corrected to 20-80 in a year-- after a dozen specialists some of which said there wasn't anything wrong with the eye and vision should be 20-20 My current doctor ( after taking web advice to keep trying and not give up ) said I may be having a toxic reaction to my drops .
Avatar m tn crshed-hang in there bud andont look bak these thyngs get a hold on us an now tht were ree dnt go bak, good luck..
Avatar m tn To add to my eye history, I was diagnosed with floppy eye lid syndrome and due to my eye pressure being high 20(left)/26(right) we did some follow up tests and found some peripheral vision loss so I was also diagnosed with open angle glaucoma and I am trying Travatan in my right eye now. I would like to get your opinion if I should see a neuro opthamologist to further investigate whats wrong with the pupil and/or get second opinion.
Avatar f tn If so, i have been on my feet cleaning up alot unless im at my boyfriend house for some days nd my two close friends know that wen im spemding time with my boyfriend im peaceful nd stress free but other than that wen i come bak home im depressed nd more cuz i am the only person cleaning up even wen my feet are swollen but my sister who moved bak in the house doesnt understand cuz she's lazy nd that i need to elevate my feet but never can unless im taking a nap...
Avatar f tn It varies depending on the surgeon and how severe the glaucoma is and what other glaucoma medications the person is on. Some surgeons stop latanoprost and other similiar drugs Lumigan and Travatan Z others don't.
Avatar m tn I have been using Travatan for a few days which was prescribed for me by an eye surgen. My eye became blood shed (just one, the other is not bad). The manual does say red eye is one of the side effects, but I find it abnormaly red and there is a mild dull pain. Is this normal? Shall I stop using it at least for one eye?
Avatar m tn You might discuss stopping the lumigan for a week or two to see if that helps. If it does Travatan-Z is gentler on the eye and often better at lower IOP, also there is a new preservative free prostaglandin glaucoma eyedrop Zioptrin which might be helpful. I have a very large glaucoma practice and when patients have chronic red eyes and they are on alphagan P or Lumigan I suspect them as the cause first thing.
