My wife has had the same symptoms as you after using the Transderm-Scop patch on a 7 day cruise that ended Jan. 20. The symptoms started just over 24 hours after she took the patch off. The first week was Hell; she couldn't even stand up straight because of the dizziness, the nausea was terrible, her vision was so blurred she couldn't see plus she had the worst headache of her life.
I recently went on a a 7 day cruise and wore the scopolamine patch from the first day and changed at 3 days. A total of 2 patches. I removed the patch the day I got home within 24 hours of removal I became very ill vomiting and nauseated. This continured throughout the next day. I called the Dr. and she told me to take dramamine. I remembered I had one patch left so I applied the patch again. Within 3 hours I was feeling better and that next day began to feel better.
I have tried antivert, valium, and the Transderm Scop patch to treat it. The patch helped for a while, but in the past few days seems to have stopped working. Also in the last few days I have had upset stomach, gas, and mild diarrhea. I have been drinking pedialite and gatorade to treat dehydration if that's what it is/prevent dehydration. I am completely at my wits end - I can't work or drive or function or do anything but lie down and not move my head or focus on anything.
What is the best way to wean off the scopolamine patch in an elderly person? Can we use the cream instead and slowly increase the time between use?
I've been diagnosed with labyrinthitis and have been wearing a scopolamine patch for the past 4 weeks. I've heard to cover 1/4, then 1/2, and then 3/4 of the patch to wean off avoid withdrawal. I'm 48 hours into covering 1/4 of the patch and i have a horrible headache, dizzy, and nauseated. Any help, tips, welcome. I just want to be able to go to work and take care of my kids like a normal person again.

I use to take mecilzine didnt work you will be fine I have de generative disc diease in my neck I had all what you said but Im still going to a doctor for my left leg numb up to my half he said it might be from wearing to tight cloths. get a second opinion.
It seems clear that the meclizine taper is the way to go to get off of the transdermal scopolamine patch and I will attempt it. In this scenario, from what I've read, Zofran does not appear to be an essential part of the taper. I have also read elsewhere on the web (not only here) that lamictal together with magnesium sulfate is sometimes used to combat the withdrawal symptoms. I saw one person mentioned lamictal but rejected it as a possible solution.
Here is my question.
I was put on a scopolamine patch in Sept.'10 and have been wearing it fr the last 8 months. It is pute HELL everytime I try to get off of it. The Dr.s have diagnosed me with Meniere's Disease but I can't get off the patch for them to do definitive testing. My Dr. has put me on an oral for of scopolamine but if I am even an hour or two late taking my dose I am deathly ill. And each tinme I get sick it is worse than the time beforel.
Has anyone with scopolamine patch withdrawal just tried to go cold turkey and tough it out? IF so, how long did it take you to feel better?
I was wondering if you all have any tips for avoiding sickness post-surgery. Did the scopolamine patch work for you? Zofran? I would love any advice to ease my mind! Thanks so much!!
Has anyone tied the scopolamine patch to alleviate depression? I have been on so many different anti-depressants for over 15 years; nothing alleviates it. I heard that many people have had relief from the patch when no other drugs seem to work, but I am scared to try it after reading the posts above. Please let me know if you have tried this patch to alleviate depression and what your results were/are. Thank you.
I've actually been wondering for quite a while if thyroid meds could be delivered via "transderm patch", like they do with motion sickness meds, birth control hormones, etc. Yes, they would be especially great for delivering a continuous dose of T3, but they would have their uses for T4 also. For one, they would bypass the gut and all the interections with food and problems with absorbtion.

Has anyone that has gastricparesis tried Zelnorm? It was working for me and than they took it off the market. My doctor just suggested a drug from Canada named domperidone. Does anyone have any experience with this drug. I tried Reglan and couldn't handle the side affects. Erithamyacin made me break out in a rash. Right now I depend on Zofran for the throwing up and sometimes it doesn't help.
She prescribed scopolamine patch, did nothing. I told her my vision was getting blurry. I went to optometrist since I wear glasses, got new glasses just in case, no improvement. CT with contrast and inner ear normal. First neurologist said I have something like disembarkment syndrome but I did not disembarkment anything. She prescribed Clonazepam and a medrol pack, both of which did nothing.
He sent me for a hearing test, which was normal. Then he took me off Antivert and had me try transderm-scop patches but I had an allergic reaction to it. So now I'm on Valium and Compazine. I would say those medications help about 50% of the way. I don't feel as dizzy, but if I'm up and about too long I eventually need to lay down. The nausea is mostly gone as long as I keep with the compazine.
Hi, I am addicted to the fentany transderm patch and am trying to get off of it. I didn't know I was hooked until I tried to stop using it. I was struck by a vehicle while walking home about a year ago and had a titanium implant over my right clavivcle. The scews to it came loose, but it was left in for months before they decided to put in a new one. So my pain has been on-going. I wasn't told how addictive this patch is. I am now on the patch plus oxycodone.
I was at the OB today as he wanted to check on baby xyz before I headed from my home town 8 hours away for 6 days of camping, then back home for 48 hours and then 8+ hours in the opposite direction for more camping. I asked for Zofran as I am familiar with it due to the beginning of my pregnancy, I am 14 week + 6 days now, and I was unsuccessful in getting it. (I do have 5 or 6 left from my prescription).
Case study, there is a 58 year old female at the clinic for follow up angina appointment. Last visit she was started on NTG transderm 0.4 mg/hr every 24 and sublingual NTG 0.4 mg PRN. Durign her first week of therapy, her weekly angina episodes decreased from 4 to 1 per week. After three weeks her episodes returned to 4 weekly. All occurred with activity and were relieved by rest and sublingual nitro. Her daily medications include Digoxin 0.
Tomorrow I will be doing my 3rd shot and have struggled with the nausea and vomiting. I'm on Zofran and Transderm-Scop patch - which is the patch behind the ear that lasts for 72 hours. Between the two, I have it under control, although I can definitely tell when both of them are due. I've tried to stop both of them independently, but as soon as I do, I'm back to square one.

They used to help about 60% of the time but now I have break through nausea sometimes even when I have taken them both. Transderm scope seems to help occasionally to but I have a site reaction to the adhesive in the patch. I have radically changed my diet and lifestyle to try to help my body heal. I've spent thousands on "natural healing products and specialist." I am at my wits end. No one seem to have any answers. My quality of life is severely impacted by this.
s eye, you may accidentally instill some of the medication in your eye if you touch or rub your eye. I have seen a patient present with one dilated pupil after he placed a scopolamine patch for sea sickness behind one ear, and then touched one eye without thinking. Do you use OTC eye drops for redness? See the ophthalmologist for an evaluation, and let us know how you are doing.
m no closer to solving this issue. I am followed by my primary and Rheumy and was put on a trans-derm scoplamine patch to help dry me up change every 3 days. If I forget I feel sick and as soon as I put it on I feel better quickly. It actually does help some. My concern is whether or not this is appropriate and not damaging to me. I have Lupus, asthma and continued sinusitis. My asthma is always out of control because of all this mucus. I cough up volumes.
My GP thinks I have meniere's disease. I have been wearing a TransDerm scope patch for motion sickness. It helps a little.
