Transderm scop patch drug

Common Questions and Answers about Transderm scop patch drug

transderm-scop

Avatar n tn I have tried antivert, valium, and the Transderm Scop patch to treat it. The patch helped for a while, but in the past few days seems to have stopped working. Also in the last few days I have had upset stomach, gas, and mild diarrhea. I have been drinking pedialite and gatorade to treat dehydration if that's what it is/prevent dehydration. I am completely at my wits end - I can't work or drive or function or do anything but lie down and not move my head or focus on anything.
Avatar n tn My wife has had the same symptoms as you after using the Transderm-Scop patch on a 7 day cruise that ended Jan. 20. The symptoms started just over 24 hours after she took the patch off. The first week was Hell; she couldn't even stand up straight because of the dizziness, the nausea was terrible, her vision was so blurred she couldn't see plus she had the worst headache of her life.
617846 tn?1231553233 I suffer from profound episodes of vertigo, so the doctor has prescribed me a 1.5 mg transderm patch. I only use it when the vertigo is extremely severe. My problem is this: When I apply the patch, (behind the ear, either right or left) I immmediately experience extreme anisocoria in whichever eye is nearer the patch. While I am curious about this, mostly because it is not listed under side/adverse effects,it is not my priority concern.
Avatar f tn Has anyone that has gastricparesis tried Zelnorm? It was working for me and than they took it off the market. My doctor just suggested a drug from Canada named domperidone. Does anyone have any experience with this drug. I tried Reglan and couldn't handle the side affects. Erithamyacin made me break out in a rash. Right now I depend on Zofran for the throwing up and sometimes it doesn't help.
Avatar n tn I called the Dr. and she told me to take dramamine. I remembered I had one patch left so I applied the patch again. Within 3 hours I was feeling better and that next day began to feel better. I wore the patch for 3 days and then removed the patch again. Within 24 hours became violently ill again. At this time I didn't give much thought to the patch and medication content. So I called the Dr. for more patches. I then reapplied the patch and again began feeling better in a few hours.

Avatar f tn I've actually been wondering for quite a while if thyroid meds could be delivered via "transderm patch", like they do with motion sickness meds, birth control hormones, etc. Yes, they would be especially great for delivering a continuous dose of T3, but they would have their uses for T4 also. For one, they would bypass the gut and all the interections with food and problems with absorbtion. I actually emailed the question to Abbott a while back.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am addicted to the fentany transderm patch and am trying to get off of it. I didn't know I was hooked until I tried to stop using it. I was struck by a vehicle while walking home about a year ago and had a titanium implant over my right clavivcle. The scews to it came loose, but it was left in for months before they decided to put in a new one. So my pain has been on-going. I wasn't told how addictive this patch is. I am now on the patch plus oxycodone.
1903798 tn?1333905288 I was really sick to my stomach the morning I was to fly home so I asked for NS to call in a sticker and I have been fine since (3 days now). I am just wondering if those with nausea problems have tried transderm scopolamine 1.5 mg dis. I think I am going to talk to my PCP about it tomorrow it says it is a anticholinergic agent used for preventing nausea and vomiting associted with motion sickness and recovery from anesthesia and surgery.
Avatar m tn Case study, there is a 58 year old female at the clinic for follow up angina appointment. Last visit she was started on NTG transderm 0.4 mg/hr every 24 and sublingual NTG 0.4 mg PRN. Durign her first week of therapy, her weekly angina episodes decreased from 4 to 1 per week. After three weeks her episodes returned to 4 weekly. All occurred with activity and were relieved by rest and sublingual nitro. Her daily medications include Digoxin 0.
Avatar m tn Tomorrow I will be doing my 3rd shot and have struggled with the nausea and vomiting. I'm on Zofran and Transderm-Scop patch - which is the patch behind the ear that lasts for 72 hours. Between the two, I have it under control, although I can definitely tell when both of them are due. I've tried to stop both of them independently, but as soon as I do, I'm back to square one. Hope this help.
Avatar m tn They used to help about 60% of the time but now I have break through nausea sometimes even when I have taken them both. Transderm scope seems to help occasionally to but I have a site reaction to the adhesive in the patch. I have radically changed my diet and lifestyle to try to help my body heal. I've spent thousands on "natural healing products and specialist." I am at my wits end. No one seem to have any answers. My quality of life is severely impacted by this.
Avatar f tn He sent me for a hearing test, which was normal. Then he took me off Antivert and had me try transderm-scop patches but I had an allergic reaction to it. So now I'm on Valium and Compazine. I would say those medications help about 50% of the way. I don't feel as dizzy, but if I'm up and about too long I eventually need to lay down. The nausea is mostly gone as long as I keep with the compazine.
Avatar m tn My GP thinks I have meniere's disease. I have been wearing a TransDerm scope patch for motion sickness. It helps a little.
Avatar f tn t afford to buy my own generic right now.Does anyone know of a generic equivalent patch that the drug company will give me for free?
Avatar n tn The amount of time it takes for the amount of drug in the body to reduce by 50% is called the half-life. It takes approximately five to six half lives for the drug to be cleared from the body. The half-life for fentanyl patches is 9.5 to 12.4 hours. Multiply that by 6 and it could take up to 74.4 hours to clear the drug. You can do the math. Fentanyl lozenges-approx. 7 hours. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Asacol is not particularly recommended in patients with renal damage, but the issue is that alternative drug therapies may not be as effective or may have varied side effects. Nevertheless it is advisable to replace it with nicotine patches and one or the other newer drug modalities that bypasses the kidneys to prevent it from further damage. It would be best to discuss this with your treating gastroenterologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
326947 tn?1252591233 PLEASE DONT START TAKING THIS DRUG.....THIS IS THE WORST DRUG TO BE ON!! IF SOMEBODY WOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD BE TOTALLY DEPENDENT ON THIS DRUG, I WOULD HAVE WALKED THE HECK AWAY.....TELL YOUR DOC TO FIND YOU ANOTHER DRUG, BUT IF YOU CAN DEAL WITH THE PAIN, THEN PLLLLLLEASE BY ALL MEANS, DONT GET ON ANY NARCOTICS, THEY ARE THE FREAKING WORST!!!!
Avatar m tn Hi, I was taking 30 mgs of oxycontin per day. I stared the fentanyl patch 5 days ago. After a couple of hours, I felt it had some effect, mostly a mental type of euphoric feeling. But then after, I´m really not sure if it´s working. I´m on the second day of my second patch. Wanted to know if this is normal? Could it take up to 5-6 days to feel a full effect from them.
Avatar n tn m really sorry to hear that. Sounds very scary. I was on the fentanyl patch for 2 years. I personally don't think it's effective unless used on terminal patients.
Avatar f tn Hey! I took the patch twice, once for my intense daily migraine type headaches, probable for like 2 years. (then again for back injury to to flipping my car) Got up to around 100-150mcg. It was a pretty good drug for me, especially since I've had addiction problems on some meds. This drug never made me feel "drugged up" which was great, I could function mostly, and not just sleep. The one thing I would advise is to NEVER take yourself off the patch alone!!
Avatar f tn Butrans is Subutex or Suboxone, which is normally used of opiate withdrawal and addition recovery. While it's an opioid, it's not like Fentnyl. Just doing a quick google search should answer any questions you have about it. The patch was just released in January so it's really new. The origin drug has only been around since the 80's and Subutex has only been around since 2002.
1319167 tn?1278213669 My oldest child is a teenager so I have to conceal this even though I am confident that he knows there is a problem. Being young he doesnt understand the depth but that there is a drug addiction.( I suspect) There is no way I feel comfortable going to a community support group due to this community being so small so I am thrilled to have found this and reading the success stories are awesome! I am addicted to vicodin or Norco. The more mgs the better.
Avatar m tn t venture to take medications without the supervision of a doctor. Besides, drug-drug interactions, we never know the metabolism status unless tests have been done to justify their prescription. So, Discuss the options with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I used the Fentanyl patch for years and your question depends on several factors. The membrane across which the drug passes to enter your skin has to still be permeable - something that is possible, if the used patches had been stored well. BUT, even though there is gel remaining in a used patch - doesn't mean there is any of the active drug left. It depends on how long you wore them, the temperature of your skin (hotter - faster absorption) and individual variability.
Avatar f tn mak, im unsure , but i think the patch slowly releases the drug constantly, and the pill has to go thru stomach, get absorbed , etc. . check back in the morning if ya dont get an answer tonight. lotta people are asleep or gone. repost in morning if it gets lost.
