transderm-scop

Avatar f tn I am in need of finding a better treatment for all this nausea (side effect of the triple treatment for my Hep C) and was wondering if any of you have tried the Transderm-Scop patches that you wear for 72 hours. Have tried Zofran and all it gave me was enormous headaches, now using the Phenegran but needed it every 4 hours like clockwork.....ANY opinions and information will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I have tried antivert, valium, and the Transderm Scop patch to treat it. The patch helped for a while, but in the past few days seems to have stopped working. Also in the last few days I have had upset stomach, gas, and mild diarrhea. I have been drinking pedialite and gatorade to treat dehydration if that's what it is/prevent dehydration. I am completely at my wits end - I can't work or drive or function or do anything but lie down and not move my head or focus on anything.

Avatar n tn My wife has had the same symptoms as you after using the Transderm-Scop patch on a 7 day cruise that ended Jan. 20. The symptoms started just over 24 hours after she took the patch off. The first week was Hell; she couldn't even stand up straight because of the dizziness, the nausea was terrible, her vision was so blurred she couldn't see plus she had the worst headache of her life.
1396990 tn?1280428984 Does anybody have a question about how to process the hospice experience they are going through?
Avatar f tn He sent me for a hearing test, which was normal. Then he took me off Antivert and had me try transderm-scop patches but I had an allergic reaction to it. So now I'm on Valium and Compazine. I would say those medications help about 50% of the way. I don't feel as dizzy, but if I'm up and about too long I eventually need to lay down. The nausea is mostly gone as long as I keep with the compazine.
Avatar f tn Has anyone that has gastricparesis tried Zelnorm? It was working for me and than they took it off the market. My doctor just suggested a drug from Canada named domperidone. Does anyone have any experience with this drug. I tried Reglan and couldn't handle the side affects. Erithamyacin made me break out in a rash. Right now I depend on Zofran for the throwing up and sometimes it doesn't help.
Avatar f tn I am a Hospice/Palliative care Registered Nurse. As our "baby boomers" age, we have a need for basic knowledge in how to know when to consider Palliative and/or Hospice Care. Professionals like myself, a Hospice Nurse has the better knowledge as to the hands on assistance that enrollment in a Palliative Care Program or a Hospice Program can give.
Avatar f tn I've actually been wondering for quite a while if thyroid meds could be delivered via "transderm patch", like they do with motion sickness meds, birth control hormones, etc. Yes, they would be especially great for delivering a continuous dose of T3, but they would have their uses for T4 also. For one, they would bypass the gut and all the interections with food and problems with absorbtion. I actually emailed the question to Abbott a while back.
Avatar n tn Her Doctor said she could no longer live alone, and my parents decided to take her in. The Doctor advised hospice. Hospice workers came to my parents house, and told my parents that they should not call 911 if my Grandmother has another heart attack, that they should help my Grandmother die comfortably at home. My parents do not want to do this, they are not comfortable with that. When they voiced their concerns, they were overridden by the hospice worker.
438514 tn?1305734140 I thought hospice care did not allow hospitalizations or active treatments for a disease. Only pain control and comfort measures.
905378 tn?1244854365 We have called in hospice. I hate to feel like Ive given up. After debulking surgery and 12 rounds of chemo we dont know what else to do. Her ascites is out of control and she is pale and in pain in her liver. We found out this week she now has 3 tumors on her liver. Im more concerned with keepig her pain free. Our family is in need of prayers.
Avatar f tn Just read a post where you said you were a trained hospice volunteer. I'm wondering if you can help me understand hospice better. My mom (91) had alzheimers and was in a facility. Last Sept they suggested hospice because she had stopped eating.
Avatar f tn the doctor has us contact hospice on an in home basis early this month he is still able to get around and he goes out occassionally in the mornings. They are asking me if i think he needs to be on hospice or if I wan to tka ehim off until he gets worse. I dont kow what to do I'm frightened he almost died two weeks ago and they gave him four units of blood.
667078 tn?1316000935 I am starting hospice for my cancer. My pain has become hard to manage. I also have no appetite. I still eat anyway. I can really feel the cancer now. I have a giant lymph node in my neck. The nurse says what happens with those lymph nodes is the are so close to major blood vessels that the blood vessel burst and you bleed out. That is not a happy thought. I still have a good attitude. I am planning a trip to Gettysburg in November. Then a trip in January.
Avatar f tn When the fistual appeared 3 weeks ago her oncologist advised us to call Hospice. We did, they came, and an RN immediately said she was going to die of septicemia. We were preparing for her death. 8 days later, due to lack of experience and professionalism, a different Hospice organization came in and immediately diagnosed the "hole in her stomach"as a fistula and that her death was not as imminent as we were told by the previous Hospice.
Avatar n tn How did you know it was time for hospice? And, if someone has used hospice for someone with liver failure, how did they help? I have a great family and my husband is greatly loved and cared for. We pray he gets better, but I am not seeing it. How do I know what is best for him? Or is keeping him here with family the best I can do to support him?
Avatar m tn He is 78 and is now in hospice hospital. H just started getting worse as far as weekness goes. He wont eat much, drink either but, the man still goes to the bathroom on his walker with help. Because of him doing that they may make him go out of the hospice because he is the only patient that can go potty still and walk a little. He gets so tired after he goes he cant hardly stay awake all day..
Avatar n tn In my case my Dad had congestive heart failure, was put on hospice care, stabilized and came off hospice after 6 months. The next year they found cancer throughout his body, was put back on hospice care. He so wanted to die at home and we did all we could to care for him. It reached a point that the stress from my Mom's behavior and the extreme fatigue of caring for him wore us out. He agreed to go to a hospice facility for just a few days to give us all a break.
1903798 tn?1333905288 I was really sick to my stomach the morning I was to fly home so I asked for NS to call in a sticker and I have been fine since (3 days now). I am just wondering if those with nausea problems have tried transderm scopolamine 1.5 mg dis. I think I am going to talk to my PCP about it tomorrow it says it is a anticholinergic agent used for preventing nausea and vomiting associted with motion sickness and recovery from anesthesia and surgery.
617846 tn?1231553233 I suffer from profound episodes of vertigo, so the doctor has prescribed me a 1.5 mg transderm patch. I only use it when the vertigo is extremely severe. My problem is this: When I apply the patch, (behind the ear, either right or left) I immmediately experience extreme anisocoria in whichever eye is nearer the patch. While I am curious about this, mostly because it is not listed under side/adverse effects,it is not my priority concern.
Avatar n tn Don't know who is charge of my dad's care. My dad don't even know. He asked the hospice nurse who signed him off to hospice and she says she does not know. I think it's a bunch of crap. She also told my dad to eat whatever he wants. I think these people don't know what is going on. Apparently the dr that she calls is an oncologist. What does an oncologist know about the heart? Doesn't make any sense. And no, I have no other siblings.
Avatar n tn 25mg pills they will have to step you down slowly or risk seizure a good phyic doctor can do this for you this will take some time even if its just 1 bar mabe a mo but longer if it is muti bars a day leve this one to the professionals this is beyond the scop of a home detox good luck and God bless......
323615 tn?1226193396 GREAT QUESTION about Hospice. No, my mother's doctor did not mention hospice. You have planted a seed. I will ask. I am thinking, like you said about your Dad, that the doctor doesn't find it that beneficial to go back & forth to the hospital. Thanks for this information. I hope your Dad continues to do well. I can tell that he is in VERY good care.
Avatar f tn When last in hospital February 2017 where they put him on dobutamine and we decided on hospice care. Hospice is now hinting that they want to stop. I need to know if it is a money thing for them or it just isn't working.
