Common Questions and Answers about Transderm scop and scuba diving

transderm-scop

Avatar n tn This question has been asked before. No relationship between SCUBA and floaters OTHER than diving and looking at the blue sky make floaters more visible.
Avatar m tn I had asked this question before, but never really god an answer and I haven't done this yet so I wanted to see what the proper medical opinion was. I'm 35, have a history of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart palpitations (I'm on medicine for all three). I'm considering taking a scuba diving class and I've seen various recommendations stating a person with a history of heart disease MAY have to have a stress test before scuba diving.
Avatar f tn I am in need of finding a better treatment for all this nausea (side effect of the triple treatment for my Hep C) and was wondering if any of you have tried the Transderm-Scop patches that you wear for 72 hours. Have tried Zofran and all it gave me was enormous headaches, now using the Phenegran but needed it every 4 hours like clockwork.....ANY opinions and information will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn have no idea - but I don't think to be problems. I was doing scuba diving in the period that I don't know about HBV, and I plan to do more :) have fun!
Avatar m tn At those depths, pressure is about 3-4 times what it is on the surface, and there would obviously be pressure changes while diving to, and surfacing from, those depths. Is it safe for me to take the scuba lessons, given the lattice degeneration?
Avatar m tn The inverse of scuba diving is flying and most clipped or coiled patients report no effects. Scuba diving would increase pressure externally on the skull so if you had cranial sawing you might feel discomfort. How much, I haven't read by anyone. That said, you may want to try swimming in a pool at various depths using a gradual method to determine if you feel discomfort or pain on the skull.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm a 35 year old male with a history of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and rapid heart beats. All of which are mostly under control by medicine, although my bp is occassionally borderline and I do occasionally have rapid heart beats. I'm considering taking a scuba diving class and was wondering if I should consult my physician before taking the course.
Avatar f tn its true we only live once, but i would not risk to be even worse with things like diving and rollercoaster rides.but as i told u thats my opinion.i hope people can answer u who actually did this adventure.may i ask with what age they discovered chiari 2?how are ur symptoms now?anyhow i am glad u r still able to travel and enjoy life.
Avatar n tn I recently recently went scuba diving with sharks. It was my first dive and I was incredibly nervous. I was down at about 6metres for 30 minutes. I was breathing quite deeply and rapidly at times and whilst down there had a sharp pain in my chest every inhale I took. When I got out I felt faint and dizzy, my joint ache and the pain in my chest worsened.
Avatar n tn I would like to know if it is safe to go scuba diving after having thymectomy 2 years ago?
Avatar n tn after scuba diving I got hypothermia. Now my lower right ribcage hurts from the outside over 1 week. I have been walking to keep my other muscles toned but refrained from diving and snorkeling. The pain has subsided somewhat. What else can I do?
384013 tn?1333022571 I've gone scuba diving several times during tx. (Even got my Advanced Open Water Cert during tx, just before Christmas.) I check with my doctor first about recent lab results, suggest you do the same. If you dive, do what you can to conserve energy. Ditch and don your gear in the water, dive the tables conservatively and listen to the safety briefing for the location of oxygen on the dive boat.
Avatar m tn My daughter was diagnosed with a Chiari Malformation with a syrinx. She had a posterior fossa craniectomy to make room for the Chiari. The hope was that with time, the syrinx would reduce, but it has not (it has been 2 years). It is not getting worse, but it is fairly severe and is present in almost the entire length of the spinal cord. Since she is asymptomatic, our neurosurgeon is NOT recommending a stint be used to drain this and she has not had this done.
Avatar n tn I have tried antivert, valium, and the Transderm Scop patch to treat it. The patch helped for a while, but in the past few days seems to have stopped working. Also in the last few days I have had upset stomach, gas, and mild diarrhea. I have been drinking pedialite and gatorade to treat dehydration if that's what it is/prevent dehydration. I am completely at my wits end - I can't work or drive or function or do anything but lie down and not move my head or focus on anything.
Avatar n tn My a-fib is paroxsysmal and have no other known issues. My question is; is it o.k. to go scuba diving with this condition, which may have been corrected with the RF procedure. I am currently taking Rythmol 225 and Atenolol 25 twice/day. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Having just returned from a scuba diving vacation, I'm still plagued by bloodshot eyes. Is this the result of pressure from water depths (to 85') or mask squeeze? What can be done to eliminate the redness long term (other than Visine)?
512655 tn?1212920204 Thank you for the information, I have another MRI in 3 weeks, then I will discuss it with them.
Avatar m tn I am a professionally qualified scuba diver and was hoping to take this into a long term career but I wondered if there may be any pressure issues that might cause any problems for me? Also I regularly go to the gym and before my diagnosis decided I would like to start training for marathon and Iron Man events, would this still be possible or would the exertion placed on the heart be dangerous?
Avatar f tn It's nice to say "I'm not giving up diving", but you may have to choose between diving and death. In death, for the next billion years you can dream about diving. The bright side is, I am not convinced you have to make that choice. Let's forget about terms such as "asthma", for a moment. You are experiencing sudden onset shortness of breath, which grows worse (you haven't experienced where it may go) and it is relieved by albuterol sulfate.
Avatar m tn In June of this year, I experience severe stomach pains after going scuba diving in Belize. The pain was below my chest and above my navel. At first, I thought I had the bends, but since the pain went away 30 minutes or so later, I dismissed this as the problem. I dove two more times over the next week with the same painful result. When I came back home, I went to a scuba diving doctor for a diagnostics, she said it probably was skin bends and I do not need to worry about it.
Avatar f tn I was informed that my EF is 29%, yet I have no symptoms at all, how is this possible. I went through boot camp for the U.S.N. and recently certified for open water and advanced scuba diving.
Avatar n tn Have you been scuba diving again? I suddenly started having air blow through my eye a year ago. I've gone scuba diving several times since then. I can still build up enough pressure to clear myself before air blows out my eye.
