Avatar f tn A friend of mine gave me her Tramadol to try and I was assured that she had been taking it on and off for years with O withdrawal. I took it for almost 2 months while grieving the loss of my dog. I decided on Monday to stop all together and could not believe how awful I feel. NOTHING like coming off of Oxy, but still extremeley uncomfortable and "couch bound", flu symptoms and horrible headache. I could not believe it.

Avatar f tn The first five days I felt horrible. Was this withdrawal? I was told I would not have withdrawal symptoms. The doc said to use Tramadol for break-through pain. I also take Celexa. I know Tramadol has big contraindications with both drugs. If I take any it's one 50 mg once or twice a day. When I do I feel really bad, like dizzy, light breathing, just not me at all. I've seen on the boards that people take Norco for break-through pain. Will that work?

Have been reading alot of this and it looks like it's the norm for this demon drug. Anyone else going thru this right now? I feel so alone.

Avatar m tn I have discovered that if I go more than 10 or 12 hours without my tramadol I begin getting a headache which progresses to nausea, upset stomach and a generally not feeling well, to the point that I have to lay down. Sometimes I even have cold sweats and chills. I have found myself taking one just to relieve those symptom I am concerned that I am dependant on the tramadol and it doesnt look like I am going to get rid of the pain, and the need, any time soon.
Avatar m tn m pretty new here, have been on a couple of medications for the past 21/2 to 3 months. Hydrocodone 40 mgs a day and Tramadol 200 mgs a day. I quit the Tramadol cold turkey with no side effects, lucky. I'm now just weaning myself off the Hydrocodone. I'm down to about 25 mgs a day without any side effects. Does anyone think I will suffer if I just jump off. I don't want to go much longer taking this for my back injury.
Avatar f tn Hi Jen, it's good news that you are already down to 1 pill & are motivated to quit after only 7 months. Tramadol is indeed a crazy drug & your experience of withdrawals when dropping back from 2 pills to 1 is very common. For some tramadol users, the tolerance factor lead them to get up to 30 pills a day. I was on a low dose but for 5 years & both dose & length of time will effect the time it takes for your neurotransmitters to reset, so your prospects are good.
Avatar m tn I'm sorry you are going thru this. I was on Tramadol for about a month and I had withdrawal for 5 days. I had the shakes, felt sick, hand tremors, headache, couldnt' sleep. I hope you tapered off. Hydrocordone is harder to get off of as it is somewhat stronger than Tramadol.I couldn't take vicadin because it game me insomnia to start with. But you are almost there. If you want/need to get off of it it is best to keep going and yo will get through it.
Avatar n tn Less commonly reported side effects include itching, sweating, dry mouth, diarrhea, rash, visual disturbances, and vertigo. Some patients who received tramadol have reported seizures. Abrupt withdrawal of tramadol may result in anxiety, sweating, insomnia, rigors, pain, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, and hallucinations.

Tramadol withdrawal lasts longer than that of other opioids; seven days or more of acute withdrawal symptoms can occur as opposed to typically three or four days for other codeine analogues. --Rarely, dependence may occur after as little as three months of use at the maximum dose—generally depicted at 400 mg per day.
Avatar f tn ve seen posts about tramadol withdrawal symptoms, but everyone seems to be taking way more than I have been. I was in a snowboarding accident in February and injured my back. I injured my ankle but over time back pain was becoming an issue, interfering with my daily life and ability to exercise. I finally went to the doctor in May after a spasm that caused me to be barely able to move. They gave me Vicodin and began a pretty steady treatment from May to about September.
Avatar f tn Took my last lortab 10 yesterday morning around 10, so its been almost 32 hours. I have a slight headache, and kinda blah but nothing else. I've been taking 15 10's a day for almost a year. are the symptoms gonna hit me hard later?! I've been taking neurotin for the RLS, and tramadol twice a day, are these things just delaying everything?Anyway, just didn't know if anyone else has had a similar experience.
Avatar f tn Hiya, I've been taking codeine daily since July, around upto 700 mg daily including 60 mg tabs off the net, codeine linctus cough syrup, nurofen plus 12.8 mg). I finally broke down n told my mam last night n she took my to the GP who previously put me on co codamol 8mg, 56 weekly, obviously this did not work as I panicked n the rest is history.
Avatar f tn m almost 5 weeks in from recovering from a tramadol addiction. Please be aware that tramadol is very hard to withdrawal from. They may last a little longer but it's so worth it! Gabapentin was prescribed to me for 6 days and was a God send but is NOT the answer and especially not for everyone.
Avatar f tn I requested that decrease b/c I knew the rebound headache issue with taking too much APAP. He then said I would start the tramadol taper- 1/2 pill every 1-2 weeks. I have tried this and even dropping 1/2 tab is giving me horrible anxiety, feeling sick, ect. Plus I want to get off of tramadol ASAP, although I realize I need to not drop off too quickly due to seizure risks. (I am taking my Rx dose of 4/day and have been for approx 18 months).
Avatar n tn Starting the Cymbalta may reduce your withdrawal to some extent, as Cymbalta is a serotonin (and norepinephrine) reuptake blocker, and some of the withdrawal from Tramadol comes from changes in serotonin activity. The withdrawal is not 'dangerous', so do your best to avoid concentrating on them. Distraction is one thing that can help reduce withdrawal symptoms. I would expect them to continue for one to two weeks at the most.
Avatar m tn Hey guys, Im new here and wanted some advice. Ive been taking Tramadol and Hydrocodone together for about three months off and on, perscribed of course, then I started reading how bad withdrawals can be from the Tramadol, so I quit taking it cold turkey with little side effects. Now I'm getting ready to quit this Hydrocodone, just a little scared from withdrawal and what to expect. will it be bad after just three months. averaged about 40 mgs. daily.
