I am trying to find out what the withdrawl symptoms are and feel like from tramadol. I am prescribed 4 pills a day along with an antibiotic for a toothache and I took the tramadol faithfully for 1 week the pain subsided so I only took it if I felt pain in my tooth. I didn't need it for 2 days and after the 2nd day I was really sore, body wise and was very irritable. Were these signs of withdrawl of tramadol?

I will be working with the doctor who helped me in accordance with the doctor who had me on tramadol for 13 years to compile a journal of symptoms/duration of withdrawal in the hopes to enlighten those that still believe tramadol does not have a down side. There are still many doctors who believe that it is not addictive or even physically depending. Please read my answer earlier tonight, about tramadol withdrawal-- the issue isn't the withdrawal, because most people (by far) go back to using over and over. Yes, everyone says 'not me-- not after what I went through!!' EVERYONE says that, and thinks that. So I encourage you to set a limit-- say 'if I relapse ONCE, that shows I need treatment'.

Hi. I hope this forum is still active. I and my husband are both addicted to Tramadol. It happened when I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and my husband with multiple sclerosis about 2 years ago. We want to stop this horrible drug; it is taking over our lives. It’s not helping us with the pain, we just taking it so to not get the bad withdrawal symptoms. I have appointment with my doctor June 6, I want to tell him about Suboxone. Anyone has used suboxone to help with withdrawal symptoms?

You have to stop taking the Tramadol 100%, before your sleep will return to normal. Taking Tramadol will only put you back at square one all over again. You have to get off 100% and HEAL. Your sleep is not going to return to normal unless you quit Tramadol 100%, then go 2-4 weeks without it. But 7 years is a long time to be on them. Did you do a Taper down to 1 pill per day at least before you quit? Or did you just try to go Cold Turkey for a while?

My doctor replaced 1/2 of my daily Tramadol dose with Vicodin and I continued that for a year. I did get very uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms from the Tramadol when that switch was made. However... he then gave me TRAMADOL 50mg and said to alternate 4 Norco 3 TRAMADOL ..this is my of 2nd week of alternating 3 TRAMADOL, 3 NORCO every 4 hours....but am confused on how to taper off both drugs......I want to be off pain meds.....any suggestions? A friend of mine gave me her Tramadol to try and I was assured that she had been taking it on and off for years with O withdrawal. I took it for almost 2 months while grieving the loss of my dog. I decided on Monday to stop all together and could not believe how awful I feel. NOTHING like coming off of Oxy, but still extremeley uncomfortable and "couch bound", flu symptoms and horrible headache. I could not believe it.

I also have a history of addiction and abuse and get perscribed tramadol for lower back pain. Tramadol is as far as im aware addictive, it gets you high if you abuse it. I have recently been experiencing dizziness, a feeling like I'm coming out of my skin, diarrhea and nausea. I never would have believed it was tramadol withdrawal. I just took my normal dose of it, and my symptoms are gone, I'm taking that as a big sign of addiction.

So after a few days, any withdrawal you feel is going to be a tramadol withdrawal and not a hydrocodone withdrawal. And yes, it will be worse, there are many more horror stories about tram than hydrocodone. I had a doctor try to take me off of hydrocodone by giving me tramadol a few years ago when I was stopping meds after a surgery, and the withdrawals were terrible.

I have been doing a lot better lately; the brain zaps are very infrequent, and I usually feel okay on just 2mgs of Suboxone a day. I want to stop taking the Sub when the withdrawal from Tramadol should be over, but I heard that Tramadol withdrawal lasts longer than opiates. I'm getting excited because I might not even need an SSRI, as I am feeling much better from the Serotonin withdrawal symptoms.
