Avatar f tn m almost 5 weeks in from recovering from a tramadol addiction. Please be aware that tramadol is very hard to withdrawal from. They may last a little longer but it's so worth it! Gabapentin was prescribed to me for 6 days and was a God send but is NOT the answer and especially not for everyone.
Avatar m tn Hey guys, Im new here and wanted some advice. Ive been taking Tramadol and Hydrocodone together for about three months off and on, perscribed of course, then I started reading how bad withdrawals can be from the Tramadol, so I quit taking it cold turkey with little side effects. Now I'm getting ready to quit this Hydrocodone, just a little scared from withdrawal and what to expect. will it be bad after just three months. averaged about 40 mgs. daily.
Avatar f tn I dont feel qualified to give you advice on how to taper with the help of tramadol, other than do be very careful with that stuff, like domino said it is addictive.
323551 tn?1255174750 I do not have any personal experience with Tramadol, however there are members here who do, and hopefully they will weigh in with additional information and advice. Tramadol needs to be tapered because of the risk of having seizures if you suddenly stop. If possible, talk to your prescribing doctor about your desire to quit, and they should be able to give you a taper schedule or advice you can follow.
Avatar f tn Typical advice is no on this one. Tramadol is only not an opiate on paper. That's why they can give it like candy. it has an effexor like anti depressant in it too. So it can be lethal to get off high doses. In other words don't play with Tramadol it's dangerous. Like I said this is typical advice. I have not tried it personally. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Anyone willing to talk with me during my tramadol withdrawal
Avatar f tn I feel awful but not as bad as coming off of Oxy Contin and mad at myself as I thought Tramadol was habit forming but had not physical withdrawal. I got a few ativan at the clinic, that is all they would give me so at least I feel a little more relaxed...

Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. Yes, tramadol withdrawal can trigger upper respiratory symptoms along with abnormal sensations (cold feeling) and body pain. Also, it is not a good idea to smoke at this time. You need to consult a doctor to manage the withdrawal symptoms with medications. Also, you do appear to have water retention which needs to be looked at. Take care!
3110545 tn?1343308648 i had a knee injury last month and my doctor prescribed tramadol it helped it really did but i have nausea and pain everywhere after stopping the drug it's like it has a withdrawal effect ... any ideas ?
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone has any idea as to about how long certain w/d symptoms from Tramadol last? I have not had any Tramadol in 11 days and I am having severe GI upset (abdominal cramping and diarrhea) and the restless legs at night are terrible. can't sleep to save my life right now. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Tramadol has generally a worse withdrawal then Vicodon but not that much difference for most people. Tramadol also helps deppression even if you know it or not and therefore is best to be tapered off slowly. I want to say that usually that doesn't work and would be best to go cold turkey but check with a doctor first. How long have you been taking it and how much of each drug? I want to also give some advice if you find it too hard to quit then I would recommend rapid detox.
Avatar f tn Yes, the withdrawal symptoms are not pretty and definitely not fun!!! Are you taking any kind of supplements to help you through? You will hear from everyone that sleep was the hardest part of going through the withdrawal! Try melatonin....lots of people say it helped them a lot!!! Your sleep will come back its just going to take time!!! And like Dozeman said a hot bath with Epsom salts will help you to relax!!! Are you still taking the 25mg or have you stopped completely?
Avatar n tn Can any one tell me what is the best way to withdrawal from tramadol? I have been taking them for about 3 1/2 years now and I really dont want to take them anymore. today is the first day without them and I had to leave work sick. I was feeling very achy and fatigued. I just need to know if I should wean off slowly and how long these withdrawal symptoms will last. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I took Tramadol for a short period of time a few years ago and didn't have any problems when I stopped taking it. There again, I wasn't on it very long. I don't know much about it but I think maybe the other meds you are on may soften the blow a bit. There are members who have more experience with it that will probably chime in soon. Good luck!
9704730 tn?1405741284 I will be working with the doctor who helped me in accordance with the doctor who had me on tramadol for 13 years to compile a journal of symptoms/duration of withdrawal in the hopes to enlighten those that still believe tramadol does not have a down side. There are still many doctors who believe that it is not addictive or even physically depending. Anyone who would like to share their imput on tramadol withdrawal so I can pass it along please message me.
1804519 tn?1316080150 laurel's advice is spot on - and I don't even think she was a tramadol addict (is that right laurel?) so that's how smart she is!!! Great advice. I was a tramadol addict for over six years - quit cold turkey over a year ago from up to 25 pills a day (that's umm well a lot of mg's - they were 50 mg pills) and it was horrible. Considering the length of time you've been on them - you should be good - might be a few more days of physical pain - but give it a little time.
Avatar f tn Hi! It sounds like a Tramadol withdrawal to me. You're not on a high dose which is good. Start cutting back on it slowly over time. It will help you adjust and keep the more difficult withdrawals at bay. You can just stop the Percocet now. Post back and let us know how you're feeling. You might want to call your doctor to let him/her know what you're doing and to get some advice on how to taper.
