Avatar f tn My doctor today switched me to Tramadol to wean off of the Vicodin over 3 weeks, then stay with the Tramadol. Is Tramadol just as addictive as the Vicodin? Will it help with any withdrawl symptoms I may have from going off of the Vicodin? I am terrified of withdrawl and have no idea if I will experience withdrawl symptoms. Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn So i went to my Doc and told him what was going on and asked him if there is anything out there not addicting and he told me Tramadol is not. I was on Tramadol for 7-8 months and they did not do as well for pain as the Vicodin did also felt very detached from everything. Of course i ran out one day with the Tramadol and was now up to 6tabs. daily. I went in severe whithdrawl could not sleep stay warm keep warm and the shakes. Went to the clinic my Doc was out and talked to someone else.
Avatar n tn re not having any withdrawal symptoms from the Vicodin though is because the tramadol is still stimulating your MU receptors, which are the same receptors that the Vicodin attaches to, therefore as far as your body is concerned, you are still taking a narcotic. That's the problem with tramadol. It's still addictive like a narcotic, it reacts the same way on your body as a narcotic, but it's not strong enough to control anything but minor pain.
Avatar f tn Vicodin is a higher pain killer than tramadol. Tramadol to me is no different to tylenol, then i have some friends that are addicted to it. I am coming off of vicodin and i dont sugest anyone take it for any periods of time. I dont know your story but if possible i would stray from vicodin. LIke i said i have used them both and vicodin gave the the pain relief and the "high" i was looking for tramadol didnt even touch the pain.
Avatar f tn I was weening myself felt kinda crappy for a couple of days about a week. I found myself back at the doc for more vicodin but I got tramadol. Its seems to last longer but it doesn't give the same effect so I just took two a day. I found two vicodin hidden away and I took them one day and they didn't do anything!! I felt achy and tired the whole day. Is tramadol doing this or am I going through withdrawl.
Avatar f tn I have a herniated disc l5-s1, I have been on tramadol 2-50mg pills every 3-4 hrs due to the severe pain and vicodin as needed when therapy got really painful, the dr told me to take 2 pills but failed to change it in the computer now I'm cut off till 2 weeks from now . I'm in chronic pain and have about 25 vicodin left. I'm worried about the withdrawl symptoms from the tramadol.
Avatar m tn Does Tramadol have as much SSRI in it as Zoloft? Does 100mg of Tramadol have as much SSRI as say 50mg of Zoloft? I was taking Tramadol while I was going through Zoloft withdrawal and I'm just wondering if I stunted the healing process of my Zoloft withdrawal. My body and mind still don't feel 100% since quitting Zoloft, but it's definitely getting better.
Avatar m tn Hey all! I used Vicodin 7.5 for years. I always had Tramadol that always helped with the withdrawal. I have since had to use Dilaudid instead. I notice the Tramadol does not seem to reduce the withdrawals. At least physical symtpms such as sweating, insomnia, and discomfort persist. This was pretty much taken care of with Tramadol after running out of Vicodin. I also get this horrible hot/cold feeling in my arms. I do not think I ever experienced this with Vicodin.
Avatar m tn I was only on Zoloft for a month. I stopped cold turkey because I didn't like how they suppressed my real emotions. It wasn't a problem stopping cold turkey for me. I'm only temporarily using Tramadol to help with my Vicodin withdrawal because I stopped it cold turkey and I'm having very uncomfortable chills as a result and the tramadol is helping a lot. I'm only going to be using Tramadol for a few more days until my body recovers from not having any Vicodin.
Avatar m tn MUCH easier to detox Vicodin than Tramadol....................boy I have been trying to get off Tramadol for 2 months now....I can get off Vicodin cold turkey and feel great in 10 days...tramadol, you have to taper and go to hell ... i'm in hell right now, after 2 months and just wish i was detoxing vic's instead of trams....... just never ever take tramadol for al longggggggggggg time...get off it as quick as you can and never go back!
Avatar m tn Hi all, I had been on Xanax 2mg,Vicodin 5/500mg and Tramadol 50mg for 2 yers(Xanax and Tramadol) and 1 year(Vicodin)taking 8 to 10mg Xanax and 2 to 4 pills of tramadol and Vicodin daily. I am slowly weaning off the Xanax, I'm on day 53 and down to 6.75mg and quit cold turkey the tramadol and the vicodin 16 days ago.
Avatar n tn Sounds like Tramadol is addictive from what I have read.. I am off the Vicodin for 3 days now. My doctor said I could take a Tramadol a day to help with pain. I took one the other day (not everyday). But wow..I asked her if it was addictive because I want to be totally off the Narcotics. She said no It is not addicitve... WHat the heck... Anyway I am dumping the Tramadol..I have come too far to let something else take hold of me. Also I read that Xanex is addictive..bad.
Avatar m tn As some of you know I'm an addicted to Xanax and I'm working in my tapering off of this benzo, but I had also taked as prescribed, Vicodin 5/500mg and Tramadol 50mg for over a year. I don't think that I am addicted to these opiates psychologically, never took more than prescribed the Tramadol( twice daily) and the Vicodin when I had migraine-which happened to be 3 or 4 times a week, yes.
Avatar f tn How long have youu been on the vicodin??? Phengran is for nausea but I think it can be addictive if used to long or abused the dosage. Elavil is used for many things from depression, migraine prevention, sleep disorders, to colitis it is not addictive. My concern is that you say you tend to mix several other pain meds like Tramadol which like vicodin is highly addictive and hard to detox from and fiorcet which in some cases has codine in it another opitate like vicodin and tramadol.
Avatar f tn I have been a vicodin addict for many years on and off and have now been taking tramadol 400mg daily for about 4 months with an occasional bought of a week or so of 50-80 mgs of vicodin daily. I would like to know how bad withdrawal will be at this level when compared to withdrawal coming off of 200-300 mg of vicodin which I have done in the past. I have also withdrawn from Cymbalta which was hell and lasted for over 30 days.
Avatar f tn take one tablet daily as needed for breakthrough pain. Currently I have been taking one tablet of tramadol mid morning and one tablet of percocet at night. My question is are any of you prescribed 3 different pain medications? I have an old bottle of vicodin and it is helpful for my pain for me to occasionally alternate not taking the one tramadol but instead taking the one vicodin.
6884999 tn?1385764179 thank you I had no idea tramadol was like this I am up to 4 to 5 a day vicodin 10 miligrams each and 2 tramadol so I thaught increase tramadol lower vicodin God am I glad I found this site.
464393 tn?1206755395 For the second or third doses, subsititute the tramadol for lose dose vicodin. Because tramadol effects the reuptake of nuerological chemicals, taking your first dose of opoids to be tramadol should help to reduce the depressionary effects of withdrawing from tramadol. Vicodin has many of the narcotic properties of tramadol and is a suitable substitute. 2. After 2 weeks of doing this, use only vicodin for all opoid doses.
Avatar f tn I take 100 mg. of Tramadol and 2000 mg. of Tylenol per day. I have Vicodin that was prescribed to me quite a while ago and I've only taken a few of them. Will it hurt to take one once in a while when the pain is really unbearable? I'm talking one pill, not multiple pills on a daily basis.
Avatar n tn Not at all. Tramadol is not even a narcotic or opiate. Its not similar to vicodin either. Tylenol 3 is a very weak opiate. It acts like most pain killers. It blocks out the opiade receptors in your brain that make you feel pain.
406036 tn?1216188561 I personally felt the addiction was worse than vicodin and tramadol...at least for me. They gave me tramadol because they wanted me off the vicodin, and I had no problem with that in terms of addiction. I was able to control the dose combard to the the Ultram. Ultram is the same as Tramadol except that you only take one pill with Ultram...and you have to wait for results. While you are severe pain, that is a long time to wait especially since vicodin and tramadol works faster.
Avatar f tn I have severe shaking, diareah, I feel like the withdrawl of vicodins was easier. I feel like replacing tramadol with vicodin for now than later withdrawl from vicodins! So i just took 1 vicodin right now to see how that will help. I know its replacing one pill for the other but dont know what else to do! I try to come on here and be positive.Im so greatful for all advice you all have given me. Please help! Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn I was terrified of withdrawls but I have also been on Tramadol for the past 12 months as well as Vicodin. Suprisingly with the Tramadol I felt vertually no withdrawls. However as Christos stated Tramadol can be quite addictive and cause siezures. I blacked out and got a concussion a few weeks ago, I was alone so I don't know what happened if it was or was not a siezure so please be careful if you take it. I also am taking a regular routine of Ativan.
Avatar m tn HEY Dude ....first off I wanted to say count your blessings you came off the methadone without getting sick for months your the first one that I know of thats done that I agree with the other posters about tramadol everything I have read about it says it highly addictive and a real bit#h to come off of...
