Avatar f tn I am recovering from major abdominal surgery. I am taking Tramadol, which handles the pain ok. However I am having flair ups of occipital neuralgia headaches (nasty) I got when taking antidepressants. It made sense when I learned that Tramadol uses the same mechanism. Can't take nsaids because of an ulcer. Don't want Celebrex for same reason and leaky heart valves. Sigh. Is there a good alternative I could suggest. We are just talking about a couple of weeks probably.
Avatar f tn A little nervous but will be on vacation in Canada for 10 days starting the Monday after. Praying being out and about will help. I was up to 10 tramadol a day.
Avatar n tn [28] Tramadol causes serious or fatal[citation needed] side-effects in a newborn, including neonatal withdrawal syndrome, if the mother uses the medication during pregnancy or labor. Use of tramadol by nursing mothers is not recommended by the manufacturer because the drug passes into breast milk.[28] However, the absolute dose excreted in milk is quite low, and tramadol is generally considered to be acceptable for use in breastfeeding mothers.

Avatar n tn I've heard over and over again on here that tramadol is absolute hell to get off of. Like people are complaining more than someone who is trying to get off harder opiates. What's the big deal with this drug? Can someone answer me with specifics? Also, is there anyone out there that has just taken it for a short time and then stopped with no problems?

Avatar f tn I have NO W/D from the norco if I take the Tramadol, but the Tramadol keeps me awake and my mind races at night when I take it. So for many doctors when Tramadol was first being used in the US it WAS being advertised by J&J to be non-addictive.. but not because J&J was being untruthful, but because the original pharmaceutical company GrĂ¼nenthal GmbH out of Germany published untruthful facts about it. Seems like SO many "BAD" drugs came from Germany..
