Avatar m tn If you're planning on coming off of a pain killer with another pain killer, you're only setting yourself up for allowing yourself to pick up yet another addiction. So many people out there will tell you that since Tramadol isn't a narcotic pain killer, it isn't addictive. There are hundreds of members here on the forums that will tell you differently. I'd advise you not to take the Tramadol while coming off of another pain killer.
Avatar n tn I take tramadol for pain in my neck and back. Since I started I have been constipated. Does tramadol cause this? I try to go without laxatives but when I get to the 6th day, I am so uncomfortable that I resort to the laxative. Is this safe for me to do? I have tried metamucil, fruit, stool softeners etc. Nothing works except enema's or stimulant laxatives.
Avatar m tn i started taking tramadol about 2 years ago for pain, and now if i run out i get really bad withdrawels, its like having the flu but a hundred times worse, i know i am addicted, i need too know if there would be a rehab for tramadol addiction in uk? im not sure if there will be as its not heroin or any other drug like that, its just a pain killer, if there was a rehab place for it then would i have too stay there for a few days or would they just tell me to cut down slowly?
Avatar m tn I too am addicted to tramadol, have been for 3-4 years now. Have you tried to give up tramadol and had problems with the withdrawal or are you yet to try? How long have you been using tramadol for? I just tried giving it up for the first time yesterday. I took my last pill at 1 am on December 31st and had caved in 19 hours later.... I am thinking I need to taper but I just want to get this over and done with as soon as possible. We can get through this together!!!
Avatar n tn Tramadol is a non-narcotic, non-steroidal pain killer. Most reports indicate that it is less likely to cause the nausea and other side effects that can result from extended use narcotic and NSAID pain killers. Since you cat has chronic pain (arthritis), it is probably a better choice for longer term, low dosage use. No drug is completely safe or without potential side effects. But given the particulars about your cat, tramadol seems to be a good choice with a good balance of effectiveness vs.
469210 tn?1219188128 IF I were you I would ask my doctor to prescribe another pain killer if you need it. Ultam is a scary scary drug. It is a synthetic opiate (hence pain killer) yet it also affects your serotonin levels. This drug can cause seizures and is highly addictive. Effexer affects your serotonin and norephinephirne levels (at a low dose it affects serotonin). SO you could potentially have a problem with too much serotonin which causes sickness (not seizures that i am aware of). But as I said....
Avatar m tn Dear Larry, Well since NSAID's are contraindicated as per your post, you can go with "Tramadol".It is a centrally acting pain killer and is not an NSAID. But chances are, you may feel dizziness/nausea/vomiting after eating this medicine (< 5% of the cases these side effects are seen).Standard dosage is 50 mg twice or thrice a day. Regards.. Please feel free to discuss more, if your doubt is still unclear.
Avatar m tn tramadol (ultram) is actually prescribed for moderate to strong pain and is not considered a 'mild' pain killer. I do agree that the dose of the OP is minor though - 200mg a day is well under the maximum limit per day so withdrawl should be minimal.
Avatar n tn Unless you want to get into a real addictive pain killer with Bad Withdrawals.
Avatar f tn m in pain alot. My dr. gave me tramadol. They do absolutely nothing for me yet I read about people being addicted to them. They're not a narcotic, are they?
Avatar n tn What about your MRI report? For the time being you can try tramadol (opioid pain killer) or drugs like gabapentin etc after consultation with your treating doctor.
Avatar f tn it is a shame, but the doctors have no fing idea what messes they are putting people in. there is no good safe pain killer that can be taken for a long time... they stop working and they get you addicted. and the doctors just keep switching you around and making it worse. you are right, the doctor needs to slowly wean you off the oxys. maybe with vicodins. but you will have nothing for pain and that will have to be addressed too.
Avatar f tn Its codine and paracetermol at high dosages i think, it was the first pain killer i was given by my doctor they come in different stregths im on 30/500, my headaches are caused by my neck and back and some kind of tension (still yet to be diagnosed) and a couple of these seem to relax my musles make me feel light headed and tired and to start with used to take them away, not sure whether i would recommend them as just found out they too can be addictive which i was un aware of, but i must say iv
Avatar f tn If the hospital gave it to you it is most likely safe. I was on a pain killer while I breastfed and it was fine. What messed things up was the antibiotics they had me on.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, I quit Fentanyl ct 20 days ago. Went through pure hell. I saw my Dr. on day 12 and asked him for a "mild pain reliever" to help with my chronic pain. He prescribed Tramadol 50mg 3 times a day. I started taking it on Sunday (nor knowing it was an opiate) and now I feel like I am getting worse instead of better. Is it possible the Tramadol is hindering my recovery?
1322679 tn?1274583713 I'm trying to get off of tramadol prescribed by my doctor. I've tried a few times which is hard since the doctor gives me like 180 for 30 days and by the time I seem to come to the end of my usual 3 to 4 day withdrawal period, my brain tells me I'm good and I go pick up another prescription. My big problem is that I get really "weird" for lack of a better word and almost dizzy when I go through withdrawals. I'm in a constant haze, can't concentrate or anything.
Avatar n tn Tremadol is a narcotic like pain killer and is used to treat mild to severe pain.
Avatar m tn Tramadol is a combination drug. It has a pain reliever and an anti-depressant. Have you talked with your doctor about a tapering schedule? He/She might be able to give you something to help ease withdrawals. Listen, I'm not going to sugarcoat it...coming off pain pills is awful. One way to look at it is that you will feel like you have a very bad flu for 2 weeks. And it gets a LOT better after that. Read as much as you can, and I urge you to talk to your doctor about this.
Avatar f tn Vicodin is a higher pain killer than tramadol. Tramadol to me is no different to tylenol, then i have some friends that are addicted to it. I am coming off of vicodin and i dont sugest anyone take it for any periods of time. I dont know your story but if possible i would stray from vicodin. LIke i said i have used them both and vicodin gave the the pain relief and the "high" i was looking for tramadol didnt even touch the pain.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with IC 3 years ago, and take a nerve pain killer for another condition that I've heard prescribed for IC - neurontin- it doesn't help for me, neither do the anti seizure pills I've taken for migraines. You might try a partial agonist opiate, like tramadol, partial agonists make addiction much less likely, but, of course, are no where near as potent. You can find a lot of info about partial agonists and how they work on Wikipedia, of all places ! Goog Luck!
