Tramadol narcotic

Common Questions and Answers about Tramadol narcotic

ultracet

Avatar m tn Tramadol is Tramadol...Whether listed as Tramadol HCL or Tramadol. It's a chemical vastly like Effexor but without opiate properties. Think of it as a stripped down version of codeine with antidepressant properties. Ultram is nothing more than the Brand name for Tramadol and Ultram ER is a timed release of Tramadol. Ultracet is merely Tramdol and Tylenol in the same pill.
Avatar f tn Hi sorry for another post but I'm off to the doctors and wanted to post this before going. I called the pharmacy to see if there was anything they could recommend asking my doctor for that's NON narcotic or addicting and she asked if I'd tried Tramacet or Tramadol? I've never heard of these but the cet in tramacet leads me to think of percocet? she said it's not a controlled substance and is non narcotic...
Avatar m tn Havent had any oxy for a few months.........hurt myself skiing saturday, Dr gave me Tramadol. Is this a narcotic? Works great for the pain.....Think I'm in danger??????.....anyone?
Avatar n tn The reason you're not feeling any better pain-wise is because tramadol is weak as pain medications go. It's not as strong as Vicodin. The reason you're not having any withdrawal symptoms from the Vicodin though is because the tramadol is still stimulating your MU receptors, which are the same receptors that the Vicodin attaches to, therefore as far as your body is concerned, you are still taking a narcotic. That's the problem with tramadol.
513154 tn?1340225289 Tramadol is not classified as a narcotic, however, it is as close to narcotic as any other narcotic, so if you are looking for a non-habit forming drug or something with less side effect from a narcotic, Ultram/tramadol may not be the route to take. NSAID have been shown to be effective with osteoarthritis.
Avatar f tn I have recently received a shoulder injury, and have taken pain killers. The pills I took were Tramadol, which is non-narcotic, and I need to know, If I am pregnant, could those pills possibly terminate my pregnancy since it is so early?
557111 tn?1219712047 Why is Tramadol HCI considered non-addictive and non-narcotic? I have read so much about it and it says EVERYWHERE that it is "narcotic-like" and that it is an opiod. It also says that if you have been dependent on any other drugs you should not be given Tramadol. Shouldn't this drug be considered a controlled substance? I am asking this because I was addicted to percosets and then the doctor gave me Tramadol for pain. I stopped taking it and I feel horrible!!!!
459155 tn?1264008142 My DOC is tramadol no its not a good idea , tramadol is hell to come off of ....
Avatar f tn Just recently moved to a new town and started seeing a pain management doctor the first month he gave me a urine test but wouldn't give me pain meds so I ask my regular doctor about it and she gave me Tramadol. The second month he didn't test me but he gave me a small script. It wasn't enough for my pain, so I've been supplementing the Tramadol. It's almost time for my third visit and I'm wondering if they're going to give me a urine test this time?
637613 tn?1281039564 I was just prescribed Tramadol hcl 50 mg. The paperwork says it is an analgesic...the info online says it is narcotic-like. I was very specific when I picked it up to ask the pharmacist if it was narcotic...he said no. I am wondering why then it would say it is addictive/habit forming? Any help would be greatly appriciated. God bless...
Avatar n tn Not at all. Tramadol is not even a narcotic or opiate. Its not similar to vicodin either. Tylenol 3 is a very weak opiate. It acts like most pain killers. It blocks out the opiade receptors in your brain that make you feel pain.
Avatar f tn It's a narcotic;an opioid. It's addicting. It would help with the withdrawal. That's all I can say. I wouldn't take it but maybe your doctor thinks it will help and is betting you don't get addicted to it. I wouldn't replace it with oxy's either! What did he tell you to do in place of taking the Tramadol?
1337425 tn?1278173987 Need some help here, so decided to start a new thread. In my 11th day of CT withdrawals from oxys and percs, just woke up from a nap, and what I wouldn't give for one of those pills. I hurt like hell, but more than that I just miss the high from it. One of my sons (who's DEFINITELY anti-narcotic) brought over some pills for me that he got from a friend, and he insists that they're non-narcotic. They have the letters AN 627 on them.
Avatar f tn I went cold turkey without knowing it. I been on several narcotic pain meds. and Tramadol in my opinion is the worst med. i ever been on. I'm sorry to say this but that is how i reacted. I was up to 6-8 aday and ran out. I was in severe W/D for 4 weeks. Many Doctors dont know how addicting this drug is so they prescribe plenty of it. I hope you can talk to your Doc. or some one else about this. I hope everything goes well for you.
996658 tn?1249675169 I also have a history of addiction and abuse and get perscribed tramadol for lower back pain. Tramadol is as far as im aware addictive, it gets you high if you abuse it. If you feel you are likely to abuse it then i would advise you be straight with your doc. Taken properly there is no problem but over long term or in the event of bingeing, be very wary. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I was in the same boat as you. Tramadol IS a narcotic, and you can get addicted to it. I had to change doctors and my new doctor told me that tramadol is a narcotic, is very addictive, and does not help pain much and has too many side effects, including seizures. In May of 2008, Sweden moved it onto their controlled substances list as a narcotic. It stimulates the same MU receptors as narcotics do. I would dump it and try something else. Half a tablet won't do much for you...
Avatar n tn so i stopped taking ultram 5 days ago... after 3 days i was feeling about 85% better and i was feeling SO INCREDIBLY POSITIVE. then yesterday and today i have started feeling worse again. is this normal? i have been through narcotic wd and it's very predictable for me... 3 days, then i was better, no going back to the crappy feeling. this "non-narcotic" BS is so much worse. any advice?
Avatar f tn Are they non-narcotic? If they are, then that still deceives people because they hear non-narcotic, they assume no side effects, can stop anytime etc.. Also, do you suppose that most drs. even tell patient's that these drugs have the anti-depressant in them? So, glad me and mom knew ahead of time so she didn't start taking one of these. One last question, are these drugs all exactly the same (ultracet, ultram, tramadol) just different brand names?
Avatar m tn Tramadol is a narcotic pain reliever with an antidepressant added to the mix. I would be careful with it. The docs think it is not addictive (that is what the salesmen tell them) but it is and hard to detox from. Take it for a bit if it helps, but be cautious.
Avatar f tn Tramadol and oxycodone belong to the narcotic analgesic group and are given for severe fibromyalgia. Narcotic analgesics block the transmission of pain signals by binding to the opioid receptors in the central nervous system. The actions in the central nervous system are also responsible for side effects such as sedation, respiratory depression and intoxication. Using narcotic analgesics for a long time increases the risk of dependence. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
