1717001 tn?1308982551 The time is different for everyone. With Fentanyl, I got NO sleep for somewhere btwn 11-13 days. Then I got the kind of sleep I am having now, for months. It was only for 10-20 min. at a time though. It sucked bad. I somehow got through it though. I am trying hard to keep that in mind as I go through my own crap tonight, and try to help you through yours as well. It just takes extreme will, deliberate actions, such as listening to music, coming here, or talking to friends...

Avatar m tn I was using Norco 10/325 for post shoulder surgery pain and I am currently using Tramadol 50mg as a step down for WD symptoms ... I believe I am doing pretty good, however I am 5 days post Norco and on my 2nd consecutive night of no sleep, 73 hours to be exact, can I use Valium 5 mg or 10 mg as a sleep aid?
16785591 tn?1451596681 did not sleep for 4 hours but did sleep for three and have just done 20 minute on cardio strider aka recumbent cross trainer. pain level ok.
Avatar m tn Where does it hurt? Try the excedrin migraine first I've tried Tramadol for headaches and they don't help me but we're all different. Can it be allergies? Yesterday I had a BAD headache all day mostly at the temples and I took 2 excedrin migraine with an alleve sinus pill and it took it away. It's tough, I know your pain all too well. Is it a headache or a migraine?
954920 tn?1254429338 I have been taking anywhere from 15-25 Tramadol a day, supplemented with 200mg of Benadryl at night to help me sleep. I know that I am poisoning my body, but I feel like I cannot function without the Tramadol. I want so badly to be able to stop taking it, but have read horror stories of the withdrawls, cravings, etc... So, I am here asking for guidance from other people that understand what I am going through. I want so badly to get well for myself...
2117997 tn?1339537769 Hi ribs. I only took Tramadol for a short time so I don't know much about it. However, I know there are people here who have had to detox from it. Doctors seem to think it is non-addictive so they will prescribe it instead of the regular opiates. I honestly don't know if it will set you back or not but please be careful with them.
Avatar f tn It has been a little while since I last posted, I am now almost 5 weeks post op from my microdiscectomy. My doctors recommended that I come off tramadol when I ran out for a day and ended up feeling lousy. So they prescribed me another 30 capsules to wean off slowly. That was last week. As of tuesday night I had managed to cut down to just two doses but by cutting down one tablet I still felt ill, so I decided that I might as well go cold turkey and get it over with quicker.....
1019316 tn?1262615059 If you exercise daily it will really help eat healthy if you are not on any antidepressants look into some supplements 5hpt for mood ,magnesium for sleep and melation for sleep vit b12 .I am not going to lie the depression could be a few weeks but the things above will help.
Avatar m tn ve been on it for much of your life so for me Tramadol helps with the little things while maintaining less abuse potential. Everyone is different and abstinence is not always the goal ahead of self care assisted by a drug similar to codeine v full agonist. Plus Tramadol assists to deal with the withdrawal and rehab elements using a far less load than the others for me.
Avatar f tn I guess I am using this board for emotional support, as these last two days have been very hard physically and emotionally. I have been on tramadol for the last 4 years for severe migraines. Whenever I would try and go off them I would have severe restless legs and insomnia...and that would be my driving force to refill that prescription and start taking the pills again. I would only take 4 pills a day and that is how it was prescribed to me.
Avatar m tn I took tramadol for 7 years. Yes....It's a tough one to come off of. 180 tablets is most likely enough to get you into trouble with it, especially if you've been taking other pain meds. Opiate receptors aren't that particular about the specific type of drug you are taking.....Switching drugs will help the withdraw symptoms, yes, but only a little bit in the beginning. My advice to you is to get yourself a better Doctor. They are out there.
Avatar f tn I saw my PCP today, and discussed the referral to the PMC. He agreed that we can hold off on it for now., as I'm not taking the meds that would be of there concern. I take Tramadol, Baclophen, and Neurontin. I also have Lidocaine patches. I was a little surprised, as I thought Tramadol was addictive. I'm very happy he agreed I didn't have to go for now, as I really couldn't afford it, and have read stories on here about PMC's that really scare me.
Avatar n tn I used to take Tramadol for pain. It’s addictive if taken every day for more than about 6 weeks. Your body gets used to it and then you feel bad if you stop taking it so you take more and tell yourself you need it. Tramadol can actually cause pain by the way if you have certain conditions. I took it for arthritic pain and it made me sleep longer and more deeply meaning I woke feeling more stiffness and pain so I took more Tramadol to relieve the pain.
2122443 tn?1335782118 I do not know what that is your using for sleep, but five hours is very little sleep. I know better then none. I was getting so draged out on my lack of sleep I was punch-drunk and having trouble doing just simple things. Thank you for your input. Maybe only a week more, that would be just wonderful.
Avatar f tn You have to stop taking the Tramadol 100%, before your sleep will return to normal. Taking Tramadol will only put you back at square one all over again. You have to get off 100% and HEAL. Your sleep is not going to return to normal unless you quit Tramadol 100%, then go 2-4 weeks without it. But 7 years is a long time to be on them. Did you do a Taper down to 1 pill per day at least before you quit? Or did you just try to go Cold Turkey for a while?
Avatar m tn Hey there, Actually I am on sub for tramadol w/d. Tramadol has properties similar to morphine/heroin though much less potent. The w/d from trams is horrific. My doctor and I agreed to a short term very lose dose of sub with the knowledge that I may have some w/d when tapering off sub. I am taking 2mg once a day and am on day 11 free of trams. (yay!) I will start to taper down in the next couple of weeks. It has saved my life. I have no cravings, can work and be a mom.
Avatar f tn My dad has been taking Tramadol for 3 years. Before he started taking it, he was addicted to hydrocodone. The family doctor we both see was very free with handing out the painkillers in the past. My doctor was prescribing me 180 pills of Tramadol a month. The nurse that prescribed them told us they were not much stronger than Tylenol, and she didn't warn us of their highly addictive nature. I don't take them anymore, but I know my father does, and I am so worried about his health.
Avatar m tn t think the Tram Warriors on MedHelp that we hear from are those that were put on a short term, 5 day, controlled step down script for Tramadol. The potential for addictiion to Trams after being addicted to another opiate is VERY REAL. And we need to KNOW all we can on our new road to recovery....be aware of pitfalls and misnomers out there. Your situation seems to be different than most I've read on here. The use of this 5 day plan is NOT what many others on here are even talking about.
446097 tn?1223694666 Yes I did, but I was asking about Tramadol for pain as well as WD. I have been working really hard at the gym and with PT and am feeling better chronic pain wise. The other times I have tried to stop the Norco the nerve pain came back with a vengeance. This time is different as I feel the neck pain and back pain has subsided to a manageable level. I am taking Lyrica at night (nerve inhibitor) which has been great!
1486336 tn?1289591715 I have been taking 1mg klonopin for several years to sleep. Everytime I attempted a CT from the tramadol I would stop the klonopin too. I had NO idea that 1mg of anything could cause such problems. I am 45-60 days out on a CT from the Kklonopin and the symptoms are mirroring yours. I had been blaming the tramadol for the horrid symptoms and I was targeting the wrong drug...it was the klonopin. I tapered down to 50mg of the tramadol and am jumping off today.
1512059 tn?1298296573 s almost to the point of driving me crazy. I just used the tramadol for the night so I could at least get some sleep. I just found out about this drug the other day. It doesn't give me that feeling that I love so much with lortab. It was just something to help me finally get some sleep last night. It was either that or take a lortab. And I know where that would lead.
Avatar n tn You can wean yourself down very slow over few weeks or do a quick taper of 2-3 weeks .Its a personal choice but do not forget what your end result should be-stopping tramadol althogether.IT IS going to require patience I counted the days when i got off lexapro-for some reason i had a very hard time with withdrawals.I had to do one day on, next off schedule for a week after i knew what was happening to me.
