Avatar f tn Any ideas on getting rid of sciatic pain. Tramadol does nothing and the valium 5mg takes away the edge but its getting harder and harder to work and Im not in the position to take a few weeks off and let it rest like most doctors say to do. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn I was taking 400mg a day for 2 months which I needed for sciatica (from prolapsed disc) and believe me its a terrible come down. If you've ever watched Scanner Darkly you'll know what I mean!

7188197 tn?1399464311 I also live near one of the clinics so I can get the exercise menu tailored for me. I was cautioned against chiropractic for my extruded disc and sciatica, as it could worsen my condition. I am 8 and one-half months post-injury and while I still have some sciatic pain, my day-to-day functioning is much improved. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Hi all hoping for some advice. I was prescribed both Tramadol & Gabapentin for sciatica im on 2 x 50mg of tramadol 3 times a day so 300mg total and two x 300mg three times a day 900mg total of Gabapentin. Ive lost a lot of weight which has pretty much cleared up the sciatica. Thing is these last few days I've felt really depressed and low, this is what started me to think and look at this stuff almost pulling me to take more and i really dont want to, i want to come off them.
Avatar m tn Get this, its been years ago but my family doc (had the nerve) to write a script for Tramadol 50 mg, one every 8 hours. Cruel joke for a trying to heal Damaged Sciactic Nerve on left side & Sciatica on both!!! I never saw her again.
Avatar f tn If the anti-inflamitory aspect of the ibuprofen helps, then it probably is sciatica, and you can use ibuprofen (within reason) for most of the pain, and only use the tramadol when the pain gets intollerable.
Avatar n tn ve been on gabapentin(neurontin)1400-1800mg for abt 5 years for sciatica...and other nerve pain. It has been a God send for me allows me to sleep at night without that throbbing pain. gabapentin is an anti-seisure medication, there are others in this catagory that I'v read that are also good.

Avatar f tn I have been taking vicodin for the past 4 years for 2 herniated discs with sciatica, but I found myself in the last year or so becoming a slave to those white little pills and hating what I was becoming. I was up to about 400 mg a day. So I decided to quit 10 days ago. I thankfully had tramadol on hand and surprisingly, all was well, no real withdrawls. Then it happened. Four days ago I took my last tramadol pill and since then I have been miserable.
Avatar n tn I have been down and fightin sciatica for going on six months so I am looking for help for chronic sciatica. I only have a small tear and bulging disc. after I Had a cyst removed that was on my spine. No other issues according to MRI. My condition should be an easy cure but for some reason is not healing. Open to Any suggestions? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I have been sitting here reading all these posts and wondered if anyone can offer some advice. Here is my story... 8 yrs ago I injured myself and came to find out I had three bulging disks in my lower spine. That lead to sciatica. The pain was so bad and my insurance was worse. All the doctors would do is give me pain meds which I did not want because my mother was extremely addicted to pain killers which aided in her death in 1998.
Avatar m tn Gabapentin has been helpful for the sciatica though. I used to take Tramadol a couple of years ago...I took it for about 3 years...fizzled out after 1 year. It wouldn't make a dent in my pain now given the new damage so I know how much the Tramadol "helps". Anyways, do let us know how your appointment went!
Avatar n tn Nearly six months after baby I looked at the log of pills I ordered and saw about 8 seperate orders for Tramadol 50mg 120 pills per order. I was terrified of the pain and had even back orders going on wait lists for approval and that is when I realized I was now more afraid of not having pills than I was of pain itself. In the last few months I also began taking valium (not zanex; pure valuim) and believe it or not I was considerabley functional. I knew when I finally got my Dx.
Avatar f tn t allow any narcotics or alcohol. For my sciatica, they allow me to take tramadol which works ok, but at times the pain is so great and I was wondering could I take the Neurontin and be ok when they administer a urinalysis which they do 3 to 5 times a week.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed tramadol after hurricane Katrina- for sciatica. It was just what I needed after having lost so much- made it bearable. When the prescription ran out,I was introduced to the dreaded internet pharmacy. I quit for 9 months because I was pregnant, but the minute I had the baby I was back on it- didn't even breastfeed her- I will always have to live with that! I definitely have lots of issues I should address with a therapist!
Avatar f tn My nana was prescribed them for pain relief for her sciatica(sp) nerve...She says it does relieve some of her pain I had to talk her into finally seeing a Dr. and getting on some sort of short term or as needed pain meds (she is a side effect freak) meaning she rarely will take anything that is addictive or makes her feel "loopy" as she is on other meds for bi-polar as am I....She takes them only when it's acting up but long story short it was given to her for pain...

Avatar f tn I have been having chronic hip and lower back pain for going on 2 years. My symptoms started with hip pain on my left hip. It hurt to push on it and I had sporadic sharp pains. It then spread to my right hip, along with the same symptoms. The sharp pains have since increased and my bones on both sides of my hips and pelvis hurt really bad when gently pushed on. Its kind of an eerrie feeling when I push on them. I then began having syptoms of sciatica within this last year on my left side.
Avatar f tn hi Punkie..........thats a good question and I have the same pain from the buttocks to the hip and radiating to the thigh and down my legs..worse on left side........I have 2 problems and this pain could be caused by either one doctor says one thing the other says different so gets very confusing. 1. it very well could be caused by the bursitis in our hips, although from what I understand that pain should only radiate as far as the thighs and not necessarily down the whole leg. 2.
