Avatar f tn A friend of mine gave me her Tramadol to try and I was assured that she had been taking it on and off for years with O withdrawal. I took it for almost 2 months while grieving the loss of my dog. I decided on Monday to stop all together and could not believe how awful I feel. NOTHING like coming off of Oxy, but still extremeley uncomfortable and "couch bound", flu symptoms and horrible headache. I could not believe it.
Avatar m tn Could i just ask, I have been taking around 400/500 mg of Tramadol for 3 years for post surgery, long standing disability and slipped disk. My pain clinic also started giving me oxy-codine (200-400 mg daily) both quick and controlled release. From the 1st Jan 2013 I stopped taking tramadol and agreed with my doctor to up my oxy intake to help with pain and to minimise the withdrawal effects.
1804519 tn?1316080150 Awhile ago I took a similar dose of tramadol for the same length of time. I was completely fine. I'm detoxing from 40-60mg oxy right now I'm on my 4th day and this is 100000x worse than anything I ever felt from the tramadol.
1646706 tn?1322167180 Hey all, trying to honestly quit. About 24 hours into it. Couple of questions-- 1) I've used ~200mg/day of Oxy for the past few months (before that about 100mg/day for three years with the exception of one 17 day break in December), however in an attempt to quit for good, over the course of the past week, I've tapered down to about 30mg/day and I kept it there for quite a few days before quitting yesterday.
Avatar f tn thank you so much for your help. How long were you taking tramadol for? It seems to me that some people don't have much of a problem if they have been on them less than 6 mos. Is this pretty much the idea...I feel awful but not as bad as coming off of Oxy Contin and mad at myself as I thought Tramadol was habit forming but had not physical withdrawal. I got a few ativan at the clinic, that is all they would give me so at least I feel a little more relaxed...
Avatar m tn For me they are VERY different. I didn't get anywhere NEAR the pain relief (or the high) on Tramadol that I got on Oxy. For me, Tramadol may as well have been Tylenol! But like i said. Everyone is different. I liked Hydro, but I loved Oxy. Some people just prefer one drug over another. To be completely honest, I was only taking the Tramadol to enhance the high I got from Oxy. Just glad all that is behind me! Have you looked into the Thomas Recipe? I hear it works for Tram too.
Avatar f tn Yes, I have experience. And I got addicted to tramadol. You can have a seizure if you take too much of it too. The thing is that the WDs are the only way to get free of the oxy. You can take tram for the WDs, but when you stop the tram, you will have to go through them then! There are things you can do to help the symptoms without getting another addictive substance involved. Good luck! You can do this! You will get a lot of help here.
Avatar m tn I was on Tramadol for only 7 days to help with my Vicodin withdrawal. It really helped because I felt no bad symptoms from the Vicodin withdrawal. Anyway, today is the first day without taking Tramadol and I'm feeling extreme apathy, irritability, and depression. I'm getting REALLY pissed at every little thing and some things are making me emotional and I even cried for a long time and I NEVER cry. Is it possible to be going through Tramadol withdrawals so soon and so severely?
9704730 tn?1405741284 t take it please. From what my best friend said of her withdrawal from oxy then her withdrawal from tramadol she would choose the oxy.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 50 mg of Tramadol per day, once in the morning for back pain for less than a month. I don't want to take it anymore, will I possibly experience withdrawals? This discussion is related to What are the symptoms of tramadol.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 10x325 hydrocodone and 100mg tramadol for chronic pain. I was recently given an option to try the fentanyl patch. It scard me so badly i took it off after a month and a half use. The withdrawal was THE most horrific i have ever been thru. Compared to methadone it was scary! So i decided to go back to the hydrocodone and tramadol for this month. Knowing it would be a hard month for me with pain but needed time to think about my options. Now im not sure where to go.
Avatar f tn So I know what to expect from that withdrawal. You can put Tramadol withdrawal in the search box at the top. But shortly many more people will be here and there will probally be someone with that experience. One thing I know you can expect. Life is so much better when addiction doesnt rule your life.
Avatar f tn Each person is different, I know, but for some reason tramadol is very hard to detox off of and the withdrawal lasted about 7-10 day (the worse part of it that is). I had ativans at the time I detoxed off them but it didnt help awhole lot. I would usually take one at night to help me calm down and sleep. I would suggest you talk to you Dr. and see if he can put you on xanax for awhile instead of the ativan. This drug works much better for withdrawaling off of opiates and tramadol(Ultram).
Avatar m tn Tramadol is a man made synthetic narcotic that sits on your opiate receptors just like oxy. I can say for sure that tramadol withdrawal is very serious as it is also an SSRI. There really is no other drug like it. In fact the highest number of medical persons that enter an actual detox facility with a need for help do enter for tramadol withdrawal.
Avatar m tn Ultram is nothing more than the Brand name for Tramadol and Ultram ER is a timed release of Tramadol. Ultracet is merely Tramdol and Tylenol in the same pill.
Avatar n tn Have you ever wd from tramadol. Thats what it will be like for the baby too .how much have you taken for how long .does your doctor know . IF knot talk him ask[ him if you two cam make you a taper plan to get off it or get you dosage at the lowest possible so it will be a bit milder .You can make it threw don't be afraid.
Avatar f tn I have been free of tramadol for 7 months - after over using it for 5 years and at very large quantities. Like you I started out looking for the non addictive pain med from my Dr. I had quit other opiates before Tramadol, and found Tramadol to be the most difficult to stop. This forum was a great help - I was prepared to feel terrible, and that the effects could last for months after it was out of my system. Once the physical symptoms eased, my mood took a nose dive.
439522 tn?1214951189 I also looked it up on the FDA website and they had statistics where they have 180 cases reported of withdrawals and drug seeking behavior for it, and like 150,000k for oxy and 75k for hydro. Boy are those numbers all low, you can bet! lol Thanks for the warning, though...I'm definitely taking it all into consideration.
Avatar f tn Others can stop taking Oxy cold-turkey and simply have a headache for a day or two. I know less about Tramadol but I know that some people can get addicted to it just as badly as Opiates. I personally have never had any withdrawls from Tramadol but will have the standard witdrawl symptoms from opiates when stopping them abruptly. Anxiety, agitation, temperature fluctuations, abdominal cramping, pain in joints, old injuries beginning to hurt again, etc.
Avatar f tn I am now on day 6 of no Norco or Oxy. My pattern is take my 1 mo supply of Norco in 15 days and then get sick for the past 6 mos or so. I had it in control for about 3-4 years, I'm on year 5 now and just didn't realize what I was doing to myself, while being the caretaker for my husband who died of cancer 3+ yrs ago now. I have a buldged disk and bursitis and the doc just keeps giving me Norco.
8265858 tn?1403378544 A physician may be able to prescribe you some Neurontin (gabapentin) for general malaise, anxiety and muscle cramps, Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol, besides affecting the opioid receptors, has an effect on the serotonin receptors in the central nervous system.
Avatar f tn Tramadol is a (insert foulest words you can think of) withdrawal & due to the effexor like antidepressant component, it tends not to be linear. The good news is that after 5 days you should be due for some relief from the worst even without the sub. It can however, take a bit longer for normal sleep to return. Nyquil or phenergan can help with the insomnia. If you want to get support from others enduring tram withdrawal, there is a dedicated thread at:- http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn So, I have been around and around since I was 20 with these withdrawals. First let me say I have been on methadone and gone through those withdrawals. That's pure hell. Now I've been on Darvocet for 3 weeks to get off Tramadol. And I'm wondering, since they are structurally the same, are the Darvocet withdrawals the same as methadone? Can I plan on going through withdrawals for the next 7-9 weeks?
1804519 tn?1316080150 Hi, I have only been taking tramadol for about 2 weeks but have been taking about 400 mgs a day. I stopped taking it now and feel bad. Will I have very bad withdrawels from this. I do physically have a very dependent nature and have suffered both hydro and oxy withdrawels before. Can anyone give me any incite?
