1162610 tn?1262829016 I'm on week 5 off Hydrocodone, first of all! Yaaaay! Still craving the stuff though, but less and less it seems. Since I still have pain, now and then, I have been prescribed Tramadol, rather than the narcotics. What are the narcotic effects, if any, of Tramadol? I've only taken 1 or 2 a day, but with a hysterectomy coming soon I'm concerned for my needs for pain meds again. If I have to take more Tramadol, how will that effect me? Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn Yes-- and you are asking for trouble! Doses of tramadol in excess of 400 mg per day place the person at significant risk of grand mal seizures, which are incredibly inconvenient if they occur suddenly during a drive down the highway! Tramadol is not a benign medication, and neither is the acetominophen in 'tramacet'. You are playing with fire.
Avatar f tn Tramadol has a bundle of side effects including addiction....hard to withdraw from due to their narcotic and anti-depressent qualities...i have heard people complain of alot of side effects while taking them...i guess i am confused but i thought u had an addiction to norco?
Avatar m tn I thought it was a problem with my heart so i called a ambulance and they done all the checks on my heart and i was fine. t is side effects to tramadol. Today i still feel weak and sickly and a little bit spaced out. How long does tramadol stay in your system for its been 18 hours now so frustrating.
Avatar m tn Tramadol could raise your heart rate, and Synthroid does elevate the metabolism, However Thyroid Disease is a Cause of elevated BP and Cholesterol levels, Si I doubt that the medications are responsible for your increased BP, I would advise sharing your concerns with your MD though.
1830782 tn?1318496076 I have been taking 50mg Tramadol four times a day for about a year. I've found that I don't have side effects, whereas my friend who takes it does have bad headaches and a little nausea. For me, the efficacy of the tramadol has waned, and I'm now thinking I need more to get the desired effect. I'd rather go on something else entirely than take more tramadol. So sorry you're feeling bad. I think it does affect people differently. Maybe it's just not for oyu.
Avatar n tn Taking too much opiates for you to handle can very well make you nauseous/puke. And decreased sexual drive is another known side effect of opiate use. There is definately a chance your boyfriend is using opiates.
1081265 tn?1256138365 It is not safe to suddenly stop tramadol because it will cause withdrawal effects. A few of the effects are anxiety, nausea, tremor and sweating. You should contact the doctor to help you come up with a proper way to taper the dose to minimize the effects of withdrawal.
Avatar f tn t work. Now she prescribe tramadol. I have read bad things about it and its side effects. Everything is dated from a few years ago, so I would like update from anyone that is taking it. I was prescribed 50mg/4 times a day as needed. I have read that it causes drowiness but people state that it actually gives them energy (I have insomnia- also on my 3th medication because Ambien, Lunesta didn't work. Now on Tranzodone). I am not weening of my wellburtin from my depression, which has subside.
Avatar f tn Over the past few months I have mentioned that I think the Tramadol is causing a whole load of side effects but he said NO not to his knowledge does it cause joint and muscle pain and eye problems and I somehow have a feeling that he will tell me to just stop taking them if I feel that way....look I could be wrong and he may well help me come off them. My question to you is PLEASE tell me how your doctor has helped you withdraw from Tramadol?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Tramadol for about two years and now I am having all sorts of stomach and intestinal problems. Could this be related to the Tramadol?
Avatar f tn There is a black box warning of taking Tramadol (Ultram) with any anti-depressant on the market. Tramadol induces serotonin release, and inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine. SSRI's (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) or antidepressants also increase the serotonin levels. If both medications are taken together, you may experience serotonin toxicity. This can be fatal. Responsible physicians should not prescribe them together.
680303 tn?1239984840 I was given tramadol about 1 1/2 yrs ago for chronic pain. I read that is can madke you pain worse. I see myself going up and down with the pain. I am taking about 200mg or less a day. I think I want off. I am sick of these pills and after reading about the tramadol, I want off.
Avatar n tn No drug is completely safe or without potential side effects. But given the particulars about your cat, tramadol seems to be a good choice with a good balance of effectiveness vs. side effects.
Avatar f tn Hi, I take Tramadol for my chronic back pain. Initially my pain Dr. did not want to prescribe Tramadol for me since I take Effexor for depression. But after taking so many pain meds, and needing to try a new one, he agreed to let me try Tramadol slowly. The Tramadol has worked well for me, and luckily I didn't have any problems with the combination of drugs. Actually the Tramadol has really helped my mood ( I think because of the snri). So I have started to taper off the Effexor.
Avatar m tn However, mixed with alcohol, tramadol can cause serious side effects. Usually tramadol acts by altering the brain’s biochemical environment and similarly alcohol too alters brains biochemical environment. Together the two can cause persistence of a drunken feeling, not feeling all right, feeling sedated, inability to take decisions, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset etc. If you are still experiencing the symptoms after a week, please do not stay alone.
Avatar f tn You find lots of info on the internet about tylenol and its effects but very little about tramadol. Any website that you know of that discusses the effects of tramadol on the bodies organs???
1550149 tn?1340000730 Constipation; Diarrhea; Dizziness; Drowsiness; Dry Mouth; Increased Sweating; Headache; Loss of Appetite; Nausea. This is not complete and I am sure there are more, less common side effects. I took Tramadol for a short term but it was simply not effective for me. Among the side effects are dry mouth, this would seem to indicate that your mucosa can be dry which may account for your dry eyes. I cannot find reports of ENT side effects such as your under water feeling.
Avatar f tn I find it odd that you’re worried about side-effects from the anti-seizure med, but not worried about the side-effects of a Tramadol overdose, which is basically what you’re doing. You said not to suggest telling anyone, but, without support, I don’t know how you will possibly be able to end your addiction. Having someone to support you makes you accountable, and that would be a good thing in this case.
Avatar f tn So I did some more research on Tramadol. It looks like it's also been given to people to help with Pre-ejaculation. What I don't understand is why isn't this side effects listed under the side effects.
Avatar n tn m 19 and my back pain has been bad for a few years, I take Tramadol every day and have in the past year and a half. Why do the effects of this drug barely last an hour and a half anymore? Every time I take them, I definitely feel the effects -- it's just the duration has shortened to the point where it's almost nonexistent. Can someone please tell me????
