For sure. Cats are at least 10 times smaller than a SMALL adult human female. What is given to us is too much for such a small animal. For example: The amount of Zyrtec I was told to give to Akira is only 1/4 of the adult human dosage. This is much smaller than the children's dosage, which is 1/2 of the adult human dosage. I would never ever give medications to Akira without her first seeing her doctor. I do know that no one should ever give Tylenol to their pets.

There are no studies showing tramadol causing fibrosis in humans. There is nothing to indicate that tramadol interferes with liver function any more than putting together an arts and crafts project with cement glue and enamel paint. Your comments about marijuana, opiods, and alcohol also do not point out the extreme dosages and chronic use in those studies. Abuse, not casual use of these substances can cause documented harm.

Tramadol works on our(humans) receptors just like narcotics do. For humans it is probably the worst drug to come off. In some countries Tramadol is now listed as a controlled substance. Seizures are a side effect. Just wanted to get that out here. I have no idea if it affects animals the same way, i hope not.

Because I still believe that Tramadol is unique in it's ... terror and torture of humans, this thread continues. The people who can understand what you are going thru are the people who have kicked it and there's people here who come back to lend a hand. You also will never need an understanding ear as much. You can do it. You can quit. You do not need to be a slave to Tramadol.

I am tapering off of Tramadol (350mg per day) and was wondering if I "delay" my dosage as long as possible will it cause any issues? I am cutting down by 1 pill per week as on my other post, but if I delay my morning 50mg pill from 7am to 10am (if tolerable) will this help me get off this devil drug faster? (I am currently on 350mg per day and have been taking for 6 weeks total) In other words..... the less I take during the day as tolerated, the quicker I get off of it?

I am really puzzled. Our Dog (Casper) has Arthritis in his front legs and has been in pain for a while now. But you can easily move to the 50mg dosage of the regular (short acting)Tramadol...and go to the 50mg for a few days or a week....then split it in half for a few days or a week...then 1/4s...then none. Of course doing all of this with your Drs. knowledge and help. But if it's not helping you at all, then yes, there is no sense taking a medication.
