I really do believe that the celbrex caused you to have the bowel obstructions as with me it caused me to lose the lining of my stomach and also a huge flare up of ulcerative colitis which as soon as my own doctor the visited me i was rushed in and he told me i should never even of been given them..Anyway just be careful what you take. Your new doctor was absolutely right to take you off celebrex. Maybe you could ask about etoricoxib even though you have crohns and not colitis..good luck.

I just find it frustrating. There is a big difference between someone with Crohn's or Colitis and GERD. Thanks for the info on the Crohn's community but I am an ulcerative colitis survivor and my son is now having active disease and really need support in that area. It would be helpful if we could even divide the forum between intestinal issues and non-instestinal.

I had a total proctocolctomy with ileal pouch formation surgery in May 2004 after years and years of suffering with Ulcerative Colitis. I'm taking codeine, loperamide and mebevarine daily to help with the constant diarrhoea and pain. During the Christmas break I had a horrible flair up (maybe pouchitis) so upped to codeine. Subsequent to this I started having the most excruciating pains in my joints. I couldn't lift my arms, walk properly or turn over in bed without help.

im 26 and ive just been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and an ilius do they make either worse and im always in terrible pain in my stomach and still have blood in my stool so is ther any type of surgery that can correct my ilius?

No I have not. I don't have diarhrea or bleeding along with the mild pain, which are usually part of those two conditions. Maybe in the early stages you don't have all the symptoms.

So, ulcerative colitis can cause that. It's most likely pus if it is yellow. To me this sounds like complications of your IBS or ulcerative colitis. Have you started the medication yet? Is it helping?

So, an occult stool test should be done apart from stool routine and microscopic for ova and cysts of parasites. If these tests are not conclusive, then you may need a colonoscopy to rule out a colon condition like colitis, ulcerative colitis etc.

I was told before that they "think" that I have ulcerative colitis. I was put on medication. But after it stopped helping, I stopped taking it, and I was fine. 2 1/2 weeks ago, i went to hostptial and had a flexible sigmoidoscopy, which was very painfull and embarrasing, and i am still waiting of the results, as the consultant took a whole load of biopsies. to this day i am still in pain with my stomach and suffering terrible diahrea, to a point when i have neva had so much diahrea in all me life, could this be IBS or the irratable bowel diseaese ???

Hi, my advice would be to go and have colonoscopy,it doesnt hurt it takes about half hr,my friends all had and it done all young ages my brother is 32 yrs old he had one thank god he went because thay found a polup and they removed it and went home and he was fine im going my self i just turned 40i want to call on friday to make the appointment.

3 days ago i was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Its inflammation of the colon and it never goes away. I was very sick for a while before finding out what was wrong. After starting the medications, im starting to feel better :) little man is still doing great but im wondering if anyone else has gone through this or knows anyone who has. I dont know if i will still be able to breastfeed as planned because i am taking prednisone which is a steroid and i dont wanna hurt baby...

I think I have ulcerative Colitis. My stomach usually hurts and I have to go the bathroom frequently throughout the day. A lot of times I suffer from fecal incontinence where i will go back to the bathroom like a half hour after I eat and I will wipe and there will be something on the toilet paper. I do not know what to do. Also, sometimes when i look at my stool there is like a red flake or something, can that be blood? Can blood show up in the form of a flake.

Could this be something else besides ulcerative colitis ? How sensitive is this test he had done (false positives) ?I am 33 years old. How bad is it relly going to get if I dont do his method of treatment?

Those are symptoms of ulcerative colitis and it doesn't have to hurt to be serious. You really need to get to the doctor and have this investigated.
