Tramadol and prednisone

Common Questions and Answers about Tramadol and prednisone

699217 tn?1323442300 For me prednisone was both a lifesaver and the devil drug. I have Crohn's disease and if it were't for the pred I probably would have lost a good portion of my colon. Then I became prednisone dependant and every time I would try to wean down I got so sick-once my adrenals crashed and I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks. I was never on a very high dose-maybe 40 to begin with and then tapered down. I was lucky I never got the moon face-but it did mess with my mind, emotions, hormones etc.
Avatar n tn Can you become addicted to Tramadol? I know you can to Prednisone and my doctor will not taper me down so not sure how to taper myself down. I noticed when I try to taper it myself I get a rebound effect. Now I do not also want to get addicted to Tramadol. I am also on Xanex and am wondering if you can become addicted to that also. Frankly I would like to just get off all the drugs I'm taking. Please let me know what you know about this. Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn Hi All, I'm new here but last thursday I stopped both tramadol & prednisone and lets just say I'm having EXTREME difficultly dealing with the symptoms.I've been on tramadol for 8yrs. prednisone for only 2wks. I didn't like how I felt or acted on the prednisone my family can atest to that. Anyway,I also realized that I had an addiction to the tramadol b/c I was taking an average of 1000mg A DAY sometimes more.I wanted to know if there ANY alternatives to taking the tramadol.
Avatar n tn Then I went to a phycologist and talked to her about my eating dissorder and then told her about the tramadol and how it helpped me to curb my hunger. She said that she couldnt help me and that I need to contact a rehab center but it was so hard for me to get up enough nerve just to tell her. No one can help me. Im not the typical addict you know. Im well educated Im married with a small child and we are living in upper class america the big house and everything.
Avatar m tn Meloxicam is an NSAID and prednisone is steroid and these two cannot be used together without significant risk of stomach ulceration (some dogs have even developed bleeding ulcers). Your vet could have dispensed something different (like tramadol) to use in the transition. GI protectants would be appropriate too. I hope this answer didn't come too late to help you. good luck.
Avatar f tn I can feel that it hasn't really taken off but there is a huge difference. And now that I have tried the Prednisone and it helped I feel AMAZING! I am a horse trainer, and there is no way I can go out and train horses during the day. I can do very minimal work even still. But it makes me happy and that is the best drug out there!! Your mind set can change everything. My boyfriend has Cystic Fibrosis and he is the same way.
446896 tn?1237806342 my docs DID not think it was my medication, however, and I have continued taking it since the allergy. Anyway, today, I am stepping down the prednisone, and my anxiety is OUT THE ROOF! It is worse than it has been in a long time. I am shaky, my heart feels racy, I feel just tense and tight all over, and I absolutely cannot relax! I'm also having some muscle stiffness, but nothing severe. So..
Avatar f tn Talk with your vet and see if this could be used to help your girl? ( I did not use Prednisone due to the side effects but that is just my thoughts) I do see it is not doing much to help her? I hope something works to help her and bring some comfort to both of you.
Avatar n tn Took her to the emergency vet and they prescribed Tramadol and Robaxin (pain and muscle relaxer). Took her to our normal vet on Monday and he said to continue those meds and also gave her a steroid shot. She did well throughout the week... still stiff but seemed to improve. Last night, Thursday, she seemed to be in pain again. She wasn't as bad as she had been on Saturday but was walking stiffly and holding her head oddly again.
Avatar f tn They seem to need all their facuties about them at all times and if that is changed because of drugs they can have some bizare reactions. I believe when you first posted, you said she still was happy and purred and ate. Prednisone shouldn't change that at all, only make her more animated and happy. I can only think that her not wanting to do anything could possibly be the tramadol.
793908 tn?1294708709 The only thing I know about prednisone is it's used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation and swelling. It is helpful to use with dogs that have endless itching, for example, and is even used for cancer and a variety of other illnesses. I personally have taken it for insect bite pain and swelling, and it made me feel good. But now, if you have a pancreatitis dog, my understanding is if they are on long-term prednisone, it must be stopped, becuz it can be the culprit in causing it.
Avatar n tn ). It just starts to wear on you after this long. Also, the prednisone has caused my menstrual cycle to be every 2 1/2 weeks, which in turn makes my disease flare. AAUUGGGHHH! Autoimmune disorders stink! (Can you tell I am having a bad prednisone day?) I am usually in very high spirits, I work with kindergarten children, have 2 girl scout troops and 3 very active kids, so I stay very busy and involved.
Avatar n tn Previcox and Prednisone should not be given together. This combination increases the danger of gastrointestinal ulceration and other problems which can be dangerous. Benadryl should be safe, but it can rarely cause breathing problems. Prednisone can also cause increased panting. Previcox can be safely used with Tramadol (another analgesic), if the Previcox is insufficient alone. Put your dog on 5mg. of Pepcid twice daily to try and prevent GI issues. Pepcid is available over the counter.
Avatar n tn I cant figure out what makes me feel so bad in the morning. im doing prednisone and tramadol every day. when i wake up i feel so bad i have to take 150 mgs of tramadol and wait about an hour just to feel okay. ive been doing this for about 6 months now. anyone else feel this bad in the morning?
Avatar m tn I have back issues from a head on collision I was in 3.5 years ago. It has caused muscle issues ever since that will flare up from the tiniest effort. For instance last week I took some plastic totes down from my sons nursery closet that were filled with the next size clothing. That set it off. It went away after a day or two...or so I thought. Then I changed his mattress pad and sheets 3 nights ago in the middle of the night, doing it in Supermom speed. Lol!

544292 tn?1268886268 Because three months ago (while I was on a maximum amount of Tramadol with soma and then on top of it; a tumbler of wine at night just to try to get some pain relief) I asked my husband, "Do you think there is something now seriously wrong with my back? I mean have I messed it all up somehow by working all these years?" He said, "Yes, I think you need the surgery." (He's kinda a man of few words) I stared in disbelief.

483733 tn?1326802046 I am glad that there is something they feel can help and that I don't need to go on Prednisone as I took way too much of that back when I had ulcerative colitis. I am hoping and praying that this drug will do the trick and start to relieve my pain and fatigue. I don't have copies of my blood work but will get them when I go back for my follow up in 8 weeks. Anyone out there who has this I welcome any advice you might have.
