How is that helping? Don't think it is. Probably won't ask for it again. It was suggested to go along with the Volteran but will just put up with the pain.
Avatar f tn I read in one of the threads that you can't mix tramadol and antidepressants. Is this true? What are the risks? My Dr. has me on both - I am trying to very slowly cut back on the Tram. I pill every week. I know it is painfully slow - but it is all I am able to do right now. I am working on alternative pain management methods, and getting the courage up to dump the pills once and for all.
990354 tn?1307132886 Serotonin Syndrome Risk The development of a potentially life-threatening serotonin syndrome may occur with use of tramadol products, including ULTRAM ER, particularly with concomitant use of serotonergic drugs such as SSRIs, SNRIs, TCAs, MAOIs and triptans, with drugs which impair metabolism of serotonin (including MAOIs) and with drugs which impair metabolism of tramadol (CYP2D6 and CYP3A4 inhibitors). This may occur within the recommended dose.
Avatar n tn All apart from diazapam (still taking) I have cut down too quick, I have been for 4 days suffering with nausea, pain in the neck and respiratory area and have fear of falling over when I stand up. Please could you tell me how long this will last as I am now feeling like you're dammed if you take pain killers and your dammed if you don't. Help!! ps. my op is imminent (I hope)!
Avatar n tn I was once given tramadol and cocodamol together in hospital, and take them together regularly now. However, the tramadol must NOT be the type which is combined with paracetamol, as then you would be overdosingon paracetamol. What you don't say is what strengths you are talking about. I take cocodamol 30mg two tablets, which is extremely strong. There are cocodamol mixtures with less codeine phosphate in them. Personally I take the strong version and add in one 50mg Tramadol.
1078559 tn?1255957403 I went through hell with both severe caffeine withdrawals on top of the tramadol cessation. Severe nausea, severe headaches and a feeling of depression and disconnection from my normal moods, interests and activities. I also had been taking tramadol off and on for around 2 years. My normal dosage was 8-10 50mg. tablet daily. I have stopped both this and the soma cold turkey.
Avatar m tn I had both of my knees replaced and was put on Tramadol. I have been on Tramadol for 4 months at 50mil dose every 8 hours. I have gotten the dose down to 1 50mil a day, right before bedtime. At night my feet tingle like they are asleep, numbness along me legs, butt, stomic and lower back. Yesterday was my first day without anything,,after 5-6 tries. I feel like I am going to throw up with all the systems but the tingling part and normal body aces.
Avatar n tn My own experience was that my entire body would itch during the entire eight hours that the drug was supposed to be active for pain. There were other nasty side effects, too, like bad nausea and extreme sedation. Some say the nausea and sedation calm down after a while with the use of the medication, but I found that to be the opposite in my case. I'm sure there must be traces in the body for a while after the eight hours, but I'm not sure for how long.

1550149 tn?1340000730 Drowsiness; Dry Mouth; Increased Sweating; Headache; Loss of Appetite; Nausea. This is not complete and I am sure there are more, less common side effects. I took Tramadol for a short term but it was simply not effective for me. Among the side effects are dry mouth, this would seem to indicate that your mucosa can be dry which may account for your dry eyes. I cannot find reports of ENT side effects such as your under water feeling.
Avatar n tn How long must one take Tramadol for the w/d to set in? My Dr. replaced vics with Tramadol and I have taken it as directed for 5 days. 2 every 6 hrs. I almost didn't fill the script out of fear of possible opiate like w/ds, but I did and have taken it for 5 days now. If I start tapering today will I still suffer bad w/d's? If I can avoid the w/d I'll deal with the physical pain.
2117936 tn?1334693230 hello and welcome. did the doctor give you a taper plan? you cant stop tramadol cold turkey.it can cause seizures. some of the symptoms of withdrawal can be,anxiety, sweating insomnia, nausea, shakiness, diarrhea, brain zaps.
Business man2 The human body develops tolerance to the analgesic effects of Tramadol. That means, on regular use of Tramadol, your body gets used to it and you will need more of the drug to induce the same level of pain relief. The most dangerous side effects of Tramadol are respiratory depression , since it can shut down your breathing, and its ability to cause seizures. If the patient is taking certain medications for depression like Zoloft, it might cause a serious interaction called Serotonin Syndrome.
