Avatar m tn Your liver function has not been altered by your liver disease yet. If you become stage 4 (cirrhosis) then you will have to modify what drugs you can take because the liver is no longer able to process drugs in a normal manner. Tramadol is an synthetic opiate and should not be taken for "mild" pain. If you are close to or stage 4, Tylenol is the drug of choice for cirrhotics as long as you limit dosing to 2 grams per day and and don't mix it with alcohol.
Avatar n tn Metabolism of tramadol and M1 is reduced in patients with advanced cirrhosis of the liver resulting in a larger area under the serum-concentration-versus-time to curve tramadol and longer tramadol and M1 elimination half-lives (13 hrs. for tramadol and 19 hrs. for M1). In cirrhotic patients adjustment of the dosing regimen is recommended (see DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION).
Avatar n tn I took it for years before it started bothering my liver and once I went off of it my liver functions went back to normal. I hope this helps and good luck if you or anyone you know decides to use this for pain management.
Avatar m tn Acetaminophen has been associated with cases of acute liver failure, at times resulting in liver transplant and death. Most of the cases of liver injury are associated with the use of acetaminophen at doses that exceed 4,000 milligrams per day, and often involve more than one acetaminophen-containing product. The risk of acute liver failure is higher in individuals with underlying liver disease and in individuals who ingest alcohol while taking acetaminophen.
Avatar f tn Since you have a fatty liver and not fibrosis or cirrhosis then your liver is still considered healthy. I see no problem with continuing with the tramadol. Maintain a heathy low fat diet so your liver doesn't continue to become fattier or even fibrotic. You should always consult you doctor reguarding medication. This only my opinion and I am in no way a medical professional.
1032715 tn?1315984234 Keep drinking and using and it will eventually give up. I had high readings and was hospitalised for liver damage but it eventually recovered after I stopped drinking. Worrying about it is a futile act, stick to your recovery plan, don’t drink or use and when the time comes have the necessary tests then deal with things as your doctor recommends.
Avatar f tn "Can you get Cirrhosis of the liver with painkiller and sleeping tablet addiction?? " Painkillers and sleeping tablets will not cause Cirrhosis of the liver. Other medications like certain anti-fungals can. Certain medications can cause further harm if you already have some form of liver disease.

Avatar f tn I had an aunt who died from liver cancer and her liver function tests were normal until the end stages. However, it is common to have cysts in the liver and fatty areas that aren't a problem. When I was dx they found a hemangioma in my liver and another cyst and there were two cysts in my kidneys. Before my surgery, I thought this must indicate cancer had spread there only to find out that most of us do have some sort of cyst congenitally or as we age. My dr.

Avatar f tn I am concern as to whether tramadol can cause cancer of the liver. I also have pain, (not severe, more dull and annoying than anything) in the liver area. Does anyone have even a guess as to whats going on with my body? I am currently weaning myself off so that I can conceive a child, but it will take at least another month or two. Could it just be that the tramadol irritates my stomach? I also take excedrin on a daily basis for migraines that I have suffered from for years.

Avatar m tn Hello everyone. So a little backstory first. I was diagnosed with Graves disease back in 2013-2014. I was put on the methimazole + beta blocker treatment. I went into remission around 2016, when all my labs were normal. So I stopped the meds. Then, March of 2018, Graves was back with a vengeance. All the telltale signs were back, the excessive heat and heart palpitations, I went back to the doctor and back on drug treatment. This time, however, the meds doesn't work whatsoever.
Avatar f tn Your liver is a vital organ that carries out roles such as the detoxification of blood, metabolism of nutrients, the storing of vitamins and the production of glucose. Liver health and liver function are routinely assessed by measuring liver enzyme levels -- mainly aspartate aminotransferase, or AST, and alanine aminotransferase, or ALT. Normally, liver enzymes reside within the liver. A high level of liver enzymes in the blood indicates liver injury and a compromised liver function.
