Avatar m tn Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic problem and total knee replacement surgery is not a solution as the disease is progressive. This is another issue but as she already has undergone TKR the most important complication for any orthopedic procedure is infection. Maintain complete hygiene and strict asepsis and follow up with her surgeon to decrease the infection with antibiotics or surgical intervention. Take care!
Avatar f tn Patients with a loose total knee joint limp. The pain is usually felt in the whole knee area, predominantly in the front, along with increasing stiffness and effusion in the knee joint. With advancing time patient will not be able to put weight and diminished motion in the joint. Diagnosis can be made with the help of X-rays. Revision operation can be considered if there is unbearable pain, progression of osteolysis and loss of function.
Avatar m tn My mother had full knee replacement surgery around october. The operation seems to have been a success. But a few weeks after the operation she developed diahrrea. It has now lasted more than 2 months. She has lost 14 pounds. All tests come back negative. SHe has taken several medicines aND probiotics. Her diahrrea is watery. Not solid at all. She goes 4 times a day sometimes more. She has gone 10 times in half a day at some point . Has not taken antibiotics since the operation.

Avatar f tn I had a total knee replacement on my right knee on 10/22/09. I am 44/female. I have had 8 operations on this knee prior to the TKR. I have had bad knees and ankles since I was very young. Was still very active despite this. Played ALL the sports in high school college etc. So in general understand knee pain / how tough PT is and have developed a high tollerance for pain. Had the TKR on a Thursday...left hospital on Sun....
Avatar n tn //www.healthline.com/surgery/total-knee-replacement/costs In any case, I would confront your doctor about your feelings and the pain you're experience, or if worse comes to worse, ask for a second opinion if you don't think he's doing what he should be doing. Good luck Jazie06.
Avatar f tn If you type in my nickname Morecambe into the search box, you will find several postings that I have lodged on the Medhelp site over recent years including a decsription of my own experiences after undergoing a total colectomy four years ago for torrential diverticular bleeding. There is quite a lot to read from my various postings and I would be glad to answer any of your questions if you are still confused.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm 66 years old and had miniscus tare repair on both knees in 2009. The surgeon, very well known and a sweetheart to boot told me that he only bought me some time but that I will be needing TKR in not too far in the future. About 5 months ago, I took a step and when I turned to one side, my knee felt like it went out of its socket. The pain was excruciating. I got it back into a "livable" position and hoped it would fix itself. It didn't.
Avatar f tn Right knee arthroplasty post-op quad musclesdeficit by Katy890, 19 minutes ago I have just had 2 total knee replacements 2 months apart. First knee recovery went fine. With second knee, I have 118 degrees of flexion and 12 degrees of extension. My problem is that I am having serious femoral nerve pain ever since my 2nd operation 3 weeks ago today. It radiates into greater trochanter area of right hip and down my leg -- sometimes going down into the mid-calf area.

Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.
Avatar f tn I am increasing weight bearing a little at a time and in physical therapy. A year ago I also had a total knee replacement on the same side. I want to know realistically how long it will be before I can drive and ditch the crutches and walking air cast? I also need to do the same total knee replacement and foot reconstruction on the other leg. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
Avatar f tn I had total knee replacement Oct. 27, 2010 and have not been pain free. It is really starting to depress me. I have a popping and pulling feeling in my knee that causes excessive pain. My doctor, who I never get to see, I see a physicans assisstant just put me in a knee brace and told me to take over the counter pain meds. She said I need to have a bone scan but can't do that until a hot spot on my knee goes away. I just want this fixed.

Avatar m tn Hello. just coming on here to see if anyone else has or is still in pain 8+ months after total hip replacement? Back in June of 2012 I had the surgery done. The arthritis had set in to my left hip, but the pain was spread to my left knee?? doc said the hip replacement would more than likely take care of the knee pain. At first (in the second week after) the pain wasn't so bad in the knee, but the pain came back shortly after that and isn't getting better.
Avatar f tn I am 58 year old female. I just had my second total knee replacement to the rt knee on Nov 18,2014. This one has hurt and swelled so bad. I felt pretty good on morning after surgery. Got up with therapy and walked 300 ft. did all the other stuff, heel slides, etc. Well they killed me that night, they put me in that cpn machine and set it for 110. I was in that thing all night. I could hardly walk to the bathroom little alone do anything else.

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with cancer and it was discovered AFTER the operation that it was benign. I am taking levothyroxine .112 one day and .125 every other day. Even though my TSH levels seem to be OK, I have gained 20 pounds! I would like to lose weight and not continue to gain. I have also been diagnosed with arthritis of the lower back and right knee. I recently read on-line that there is a connection to hypothyroidism and arthritis. Is this so? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I'm a 66 yr old female, normal weight. Had a total knee replacement six months ago because of a torn ACL, torn meniscus and arthritic knee. The pain is now worse than before I had the replacement surgery. My knee is always swollen, stiff and hot to touch since surgery. I have taken Celebrex that helped the pain but had to stop because my kidney function BU/CU ratio is now elevated. I cannot take other NSAID's because they elevate my blood pressure.
Avatar f tn I had 3 surgeries on my right knee, my first in May 2008, 2nd in Oct 2008, and total knee replacement in April 2009. I have completed phsical theraphy at home for 7 weeks, and outpatient P.T for 6 add'l wks. I have more pain now than before. I can't walk without my cane for long periods, I can't sit, because my back now hurts, and I can't sleep too well. All medications and shot of cortisone don't seem to work well. I continue to search for a avenue of relief.
