Avatar f tn ) Somewhere along the line, oversimplified descriptions of Lyme given to health care providers said to look for a bulls eye rash, swollen joints (esp. the knees), headaches, and possibly fatigue, followed eventually by Lyme arthritis. Since rheumatologists were doing the initial research, it took them a long time to look beyond the rheumatic symptoms to realize that there could also be neurological symptoms.
1027575 tn?1390964018 which told me he could take care of the pain by total wrist fusion. Went back to my Doc. and told him i wanted to be treated by another Doctor of my choosing, he released me from his care i left with a complete copy of med records. I researched my current doctor for almost 2 months before selecting him, i also went to several hand PT's and asked who they thought was the best hand doctor, so thats where i am. thats all for now i'm tired of typing one handed.
Avatar n tn Thank you for contacting the Macomb County Health Department. The Health Department does not have general medical clinics to see and evaluate patients except for our STD and Family Planning Clinics. I do have contact information for two Macomb medical providers who will evaluate, diagnose, treat and/or refer individuals without insurance: #1: Mt Clemens Regional Medical Outreach Clinic (800) 741-4130 #2: Neighbors Caring for Neighbors (586) 469-3750 in Mt.
Avatar f tn I have not had that happen, but you may check work your doctor because they often bill for the whole pregnancy at once. So for me, the total bill was $3000 with a copay of $150, so they had me pay the $150 over time. If not, you should be eligible for medicaid that would cover your hospital stay and the baby's care. I know that probably isn't anyone's first choice, but you need to do whatever you can to help make sure you don't get into a financial mess over this.
535822 tn?1443980380 NaturalNews) The American Dietetic Association (ADA), which refers to itself as "the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals," has launched a new attack on freedom of health speech that seeks to criminalize the giving of nutritional or counseling advice by individuals that are not officially licensed by the ADA or one of its state-level prototypes -- and the ADA is covertly attempting to accomplish this goal by quietly passing restrictive licensing laws in all

Avatar n tn He only stopped yelling when I fired him (I couldn't handle his god complex) and found a competent endocrinologist. Mine now treats me as a partner in my health care and is very supportive to my wishes on my health care. Don't feel bad at all about getting a second opinion. If I was an endocrinologist (gee, I wish), I would be concerned with your nodule too and would want further studies. Please let us know how it goes with the ENT surgeon.
Avatar n tn By the way I'm not vindictive at all. Just an advocate for patients rights and health care reform. My current one probably does't know what I look like- lol! And I don't intend to go to him any time soon. Tell your endocrinologist that those antibodies will likely disappear the moment the underlying infection is dxed and treated!
1530342 tn?1405020090 The final straw was the bitter budget standoff that partly shuttered the government, precipitated by Republicans like Amash and Bentivolio who enlisted early in the campaign demanding that President Barack Obama dismantle his health care law in exchange for keeping the government operating.
193609 tn?1292183893 The state of Michigan has deemed my little man as OHI. Which stands for "otherwise health impaired". He has to start working with a teacher every tuesday and thursday for an hour. He is 3 months old, but 3 weeks old adjusted age. So, on all levels he was deemed 0 months old. They said he is in great health, and just needs help with developmental connection. He seems off in his own world and doesn't make visual connections.
Avatar m tn Edward Fleischman, chief executive of the Execu/Search Group, a professional recruiting firm based in New York, said he had seen outsize demand for health care professionals, including urgent care physicians, nurses, therapists and technicians. “A lot of that has to do with Obamacare,” he said. Mr. Fleischman, whose firm opened three new offices last year, added that hiring — particularly for digitally adept workers — had been strong across the board.
Avatar f tn I went, and I told them I was diagnosed with Lymes Disease, and he said there is no such thing in the Michigan not to mention the United States. I went to another Doctor that was recommended and she pretty much agreed to do the standard Lymes test while I was having my thyroid test. She said that there is no approved way to treat Lymes, you only treat the sypmtoms. I felt like a hypocondriac. My health has gotten worse over te last three years and now I'm on Disability.
Avatar m tn They studied 866,886 uninfected adults enrolled in health care plans in Pennsylvania, Michigan, the Pacific Northwest, and Hawaii over several years to determine who and how many were screened for viral hepatitis. They then compared the number screened and found to be infected with viral hepatitis against race- and age-matched national data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) to assess the missed diagnoses. Even with quality health care, only 18.
Avatar f tn But shouldn't there be more studies done by the health care system, or are all the drugs we ingest just made up by the pharmaceutical industry, for big profits?

326184 tn?1348812708 Thank you all for your answers I am pushing for answers every day but all of the input that I have had from you all has put me in a different direction. I do live in Michigan now and grew up here but just moved back from Ohio a year ago this past November. I lived in Ohio near the P.A. boarder for the past 11 years and moved home to hopefully get help as I had no health insurance until I came here. Unfortunately due to my deteriation so to speak..
Avatar n tn My hubby is enyoying it while he can b/c I'm normally a health nut! I'm only 9 weeks along and right now my normal diet (full of all the good things - fruits and veggies, etc) just doesn't sound good at all! My tummy is almost constantly queezy and I crave carbs and bland foods. Does this feeling ever go away! I know I need to be eating better for my baby! Also, we have our first appointment with the dr. tomorrow morning! She will do an ultrasound as well...
Avatar n tn I live in MIchigan, camp frequently, and have a cabin in the woods we stay at almost every weekend. My only known bite would have been over 30 years ago, but my chances of recent contact would be above average. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
Avatar f tn I have a 5 year old son and a 4 month old daughter, and am worried about being sick and finding someone to take care of them for a whole year of treatment.. How likely is it that if the cancer comes back it won't be caught early again like it was this time? Won't I have mammograms every 6 months for awhile anyway?
Avatar m tn I add for the benefit of anyone reading this post, I did some additional research and found that the Michigan dept of health estimates there are only 19300 people living with Hiv/aids in our state of 9.8 million and of that number 12600 of them are in the greater detriot area (over 300 miles from me. Furthermore only 830 of the total are white females. Im sure if I could break it down to our county and age it would be even more remote.
1684282 tn?1505701570 There is no question that opioids are effective analgesics in the treatment of pain caused by acute injury or surgery, and they are invaluable in the palliative care of patients with cancer and other lethal diseases. But we have criminalized the nonmedical use of opioids and deploy vast armies of combatants in the (largely ineffective) war on such drugs as heroin and opium.
Avatar n tn I am trying to get Social Security disability until I can go through treatment. I am in Cox health network with my insurance and when one of these guys wont treat you--no one else will either. I even tried to change PCP's and got a run around. I taught IT classes at the University but had to quit because of fatigue and diabetes and Hep C and advanced cirrhosis causing me to have fainting spells. Anyone else with these same problems?
1339501 tn?1285443004 That might save you several thousand dollars. Don't want to start a war on health care, but state/federal health care like medicaid is not free. As we all have learned nothing in life is free. It seems that I have read several times about this great free service and it is a little frusterating having my DH work so hard so we have health coverage only to have others get their "free" care.
206807 tn?1331939784 Nothing changes other than you too get the perks of the ACA like being allowed to have children on your policy until age 25. No caps on care, making sure your insurer pays 80 percent on health care or issue rebates, pre existing for children is currently covered, and pre existing for adults to kick in in 2015, along with preventative care like cancer screening and such free of charge. ALL people get these perks unless you are in a grandfathered in healthcare plan as I understand.
Avatar n tn I've had a sub-total gastrectomy, ruh-en-y gastric resection; another 'replumbing' job which I can't rember the medical name for and lastest surgery was a job for severe gastric reflux. The reflux is gone! Problem now is that I am not able to eat enough qantity of food to maintain any weight. I am still loosing weight and am suffering from malnutrition and an inability to absorb any nutrients from the food I am able to take in.
Avatar f tn Hi, I just wanted to post an update and share this experience with everyone - hopefully it will help at least one person who is questioning their low positive HerpesSelect or other IgG HSV 2 test results. After some effort, I was able to get the Western Blot (for HSV) test thru my health care provider. As others have mentioned in their posts, you really have to be diligent with your health care provider about ordering the right test.
Avatar f tn Sounds like you have fantastic medical care! Kudos to you for being persistent on your health care too! Too many give up and don't want to fight their doctors or accept the "in your head" label and ignore it. Have you seen the ultrasound? Do you know how close it is to the vocal nerves? Yes, the parathyroids are a problem but you've probably been reading, and know from your training, what to watch for on the calcium drop.
Avatar f tn Thank you all for the well wishes and thumb ups. You don't know how grateful I am to all of you.
1172911 tn?1263786747 If she can't answer something she writes my endo and finds out. Here in Canada we have gov't run health care, and I have to say I have been happy with everything except the 7 week wait for surgery. That was a long time and I felt like my tumors were growing although they probably weren't as thyroid cancer is a slow growing cancer. I found a book by M. Sara Rosenthal called The Thyroid Cancer Book, second edition.
