492869 tn?1285022533 ) I took some Codeiene, Zofran, Tylenol, Guaifenesin, Toprol XL, and Theo-24 at around 7pm. I'm back on oxygen, but haven't needed my nebulizer in two days. So, my blood pressure is floored, but that happens. Hopefully I'll be feeling better in a couple of days. At least this didn't happen while my friend was visiting. My friend and I had played card games like Skip-Bo, and also we played Nintendo Wii gamed like Elebits! It was really great!
Avatar f tn This came back normal as well. I am currently taking Toprol XL 50 mg, 25 in the am and 25 in the evening. Recently, the past month or so, I have been experiencing shortness of breath/feeling like I'm not getting enought air. I have been to the doctor at my University, who didn't hear any wheezing or anything she seemed concerned about when she listened to my chest. My questions are 1) Could this shortness of breath be a side effect of the Toprol?
Avatar f tn what is slow R waveand rotation caused by after having norm ekg's ... recommend? currently on Toprol XL 50mg Crestor Tricor Zetia Midodrine Florinef celebrex plaquenil ... should I be concerned about stress echo results ?
Avatar n tn my hubby is starting to take toprol xl. There is something typed next to the name of the drug. sa ast. What does that mean. Is it on the bottle that anyone else has of toprol? He is taking 25 mg.
183202 tn?1219857259 I also want to make you aware of the generic for Toprol I was on. Both the generics by Sandoz and Ethex for Toprol XL have been proven to be less effective, and even have caused adverse side effects while the regular Toprol does not, as well as it can also do the opposite of what Toprol is supposed to do.
Avatar n tn the medication i am taken is bayer asprin 81 mg , nexium 40 mg , toprol XL 100 mg, Plavix 75 mg, simvastatin 10mg, thought that would be nice for you to know...I really could use your advice what i should have done to see, why my left neck has this feelings of pins and needles feelings...hope to hear from you ....
Avatar m tn Thing is he gave me an echo stress test but allowed me to take 1/4 of my toprol xl 25 because I was nervous... Doesnt that invalidate the test? I reached 180 bpm I felt short of breath but they told me everything was normal. The hospital has caught me in sinus tachy a few times but no abnormal HR's apparently. The reason I believe the electrophysio believes SVT is my symptomology.
Avatar n tn Walk 2 miles 5-6 weekly. I take 25 mg of Toprol XL twice daily, Pravachol and Zetia. Meditate and take 25 mg Ativan when that doesn't help. I have had to go to the ER twice for my tachycardia (treated with adenosine-which was awful) and have had an ablation, which was partially successful. I feel like a walking time bomb one minute and a hypochondriac the next.
Avatar n tn Yes I have a problem with that and Im working it - but Im on toprol XL for palps and wonder if that doesnt have something to do with it as well. You must eat well - because your total cholesterol is under 200 and thats the standard so am I missing something? I have read numerous studies how cholesterol lowering drugs or statins actually harm you in the long run. Your body needs to make choleseterol and suppression of the liver makign the cholesterol can produce serious effects later in life.
Avatar f tn I have not had rhythms nearly as bad as yours, but even on the toprol xl my hr has also not fallen below 100 since this past summer, and I wonder about the effects of that and all. Best wishes for you and please keep us posted on your progress, em.

Avatar f tn Just a little piece like that will take the adrenaline out of your body and STOP the panic. It has really been a life saver for me. I tried toprol first and it didn't help me at all. Atenolol releases everything all at once so it REALLY starts working quite fast. I believe there are others that perform like atenolol, but I don't know their names. You might already be on one since you were hyper. I've learned there is little differences between the symptoms of hyper and hypo.
Avatar n tn I gained weight on it too, looking back it has been about a pound a week I see my Doc tomorrow and I am going to ask to go back to Toprol stopped working, but maybe the break helped. I have gained weight despite a change in diet and I watch what I eat.
Avatar n tn Just wanted to say that i was plagued with these also. I was on Toprol XL for over a yr with no relief. I had borderline hypertension 145/90's and now it is 115's/75. Not sure if there is a connection but in my case they have been almost nonexistant for almost a half yr. PVC's in my opinion im not a dr. occur for many different reasons some of which are unknown. I have to believe the drs when they say with a normal workup they are harmless(which i know is very hard to do from my own experience.
Avatar n tn it first came or I first noticed it during bouts of my vigorous workouts with weights..........but now I'm on toporal XL 25mgs a day and I've completely dropped all the intensity out of my weights and add some light cardio for my heart which I never did in the past............ Well, now I'm able to avoid any irregular heart beats or a fib episodes at the gym.......but I seem to get PVC's..flutters etc when I lay down to rest or sleep.......
Avatar n tn I guess my years of hard training and borderline bp brought this on. I left the cardio yesterday and she gave me toprol xl (which im scared to start taking) and told me no lifting at all until i get the ct scan (thats if the insurance approves it) if it is indeed 4.0 im not allowed to lift ever again. This is devastating on me for many reasons, one is that lifting has always been a sort of therapy for me as well as an excellent stress outlet.
Avatar n tn I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner...I'm glad you got an answer to your question.
1270609 tn?1272407146 I am on full regimen CHF meds starting with very low doses...Bp was never over 130/80 to begin with. Was on low dose toprol xl for 9 years for Bp. Now on coreg, lisinopril, dig, lasix, aldactone. Card cath next week.
577754 tn?1217639910 I do better on Toprol XL. Just a thought. They are both beta blockers. For awhile I was on a low daily dose and when I had an episode I used the "pill in the pocket" approach of taking extra. (I am not sure from your posting how much time you have when one of these things is going on.) Now I take a larger constant dose. It does cause some lethargy, but it is a trade off. I read up on neurocardiogenic syncope, not having heard of it before.

183202 tn?1219857259 I do have minor Mitral Valve Prolapse and Tricuspid Regurgitation, but they said this was not causing my symptoms and it was just panic attacks and injected me with 2MG of Ativan and after all the tests came back negative sent me on my way.
Avatar m tn and it really does help. I was on Toprol XL and took it 1/2 in the a.m. and half at night as directed by a nurse, even tho it is extended release, that helped. Now I take Atenolol, which makes me less dizzy that Toprol did. My cardiologist said it doesn't pass the blood-brain barrier. I take up to 2 25 mg. tablets, in divided doses, usually 1/4's. This has worked for me for about 7 years. Now I'm having other issues, but some of this might work for you.
Avatar f tn First visit without doing any test or procedure, I was told he won't do it because i'm young -28y/o and skinny. I was hospitalized due to angina in 2009. I was just given toprol -xl to take since the cardiologist didn't want to do the cath. I tried another cardiologist to see if he would do it... he did the exact same thing. He said he won't do it. Neitherless to say, I do not have a cardiologist that is helping me. Tachycardia was my main issue in 2009. I asked my doctor my options.
Avatar n tn Have had Echo, EKG, ECG, X-Ray, Holter Mon, MRI all came back fine. Im on 200 mg Toprol XL. I notice a different feeling beat when doing a military press, or working with my arms over my head, or bringing my knees to my chest when lifting with my legs or sit ups. I also notice them more when I know Im nowere close to a hospital which is my anxiety im sure! My questions are is 200 mg to much? Does an increase when arms are over head signify anything?
Avatar n tn my GP gave me a prescription for TOPROl XL 25mg taken once a day. I have not taken any yet because i have read some comments that a lot of people had no luck with these things and that they can have scary side effects....I would be interested in hearing from anyone who cares to comment about their experience with this drug or other beta blockers...I have noticed that my prescription seems to be a very low dose.... MOMTO3GIRLS what beta blocker do you take, and has it helped?
Avatar n tn I too have had problems with PVC's when I lie down which is so bothersome. I take Toprol XL 50mg but have not seen any improvement at all. I do not consume anything with caffeine and I try to live a healthy lifestyle but still have thousands of PVC's...apparently my heart is structurally normal. These PVC's cause a lot of anxiety but I hate to take anything for that b/c of the risk that I will be addicted. I am 62....they seem to be getting more numerous as I get older.
408640 tn?1202091646 I also have a frequent irregular heart rate that has been diagnosed as benign. I was on Toprol XL 100 mg q day and they are increasing to start with to 100 q AM and 50 mg Q HS. I am very curious about how my CAD got better. Of course I believe in the power of prayer and in divine healing, and I think that's about all it could be, but I am curious about the new problem they found. Can that cause the chest pain I'm having?
Avatar f tn Hi there, I just started taking Toprol XL about a week ago and I have still been having a lot of palps, maybe more than before if not the same amount. The only thing I've noticed is they don't feel near as strong as before but I have the bad habit of feeling my pulse all the time so I notice them. I have bad anxiety and some panic attacks as well. I think my health concerns have played a huge part in that.
282804 tn?1236837191 Daddy himself having a few heart attacks and even me who has mitral valve prolapse. I take Toprol XL (25mg per day) for that and as far as the headaches are concerned, Imitrex usually helps with the migranes when they get really bad. When I feel a headache coming on I pop 2 excedrin extra strength and this helps to avoid the headache all together sometimes. So, just be careful with this treatment. I think this may be your miracle.
Avatar n tn Up till then the recommendation by the cardiologist who recorded the 10,000/day on holter was not to take medication, even beta-blockers Well, I thought this time I had to try something. So I've tried toperol XL 25 mg divided, but that made me really tired. So now I'm trying inderal 10mg as needed, and while it makes me feel a little spacey it does decrease the sensation of the PVCs, but not the frequency.
