toprol

Avatar n tn Within 3 day, I began coughing terribly, and spitting up clear mucus. On 2-21, the doctor took me off Toprol and prescribed Cardizem to clear up my coughing. I felt and sounded as if I have a bad case of Bronchitis. I will never take this medicine again.
Avatar f tn I take 12.5 mg of Toprol XL per day (any more and my BP drops very low). When I'm on Toprol, I don't have the waking in the night spells but when I'm off it I do (I've tried to get off once last summer and had to start taking it again). When I had the urine test back in October 2004, I had just started Toprol XL and was taking 12.5 mg per day for about a week before the test.
Avatar f tn wasn't happy with that, got a second opinion, switched doc's and he tested me for everything under the sun and he told me (I've been on toprol XL for awhile) , .. .he thinks that the toprol XL is the culprit, even thought the cat scan showed a phemomocytoma. I know that phemo's are found incidentely and most don't cause problems. but he said "No' you dont have hypoglycemia, he said the toprol XL would cause hypoglycemic like symtpoms just like the elevated plasma free metanephrines. . .
Avatar n tn I have been on Toprol XL 50 for one year. Recently I have had a problem swallowing and loss of appetite, All tests so far have come back negative, including blood, thyroid, diabetes, endoscopy etc. I have also had some lightheadeness, dizziness, weak feeling, shaking sometimes, feel like I am on a boat at times. I am doing best to eat more and have not lost anymore weight. I am just wondering can side effects appear after a year of none.

Avatar m tn A prescription for Toprol XL 12.5 mg issued. Should I take it considering it is a beta-blocker and reduces the heart rate?
577754 tn?1217639910 I was told I was in the 150's and dropped into a junctional rhythm and then into an accelerated junctional and lastly it went into a sinus rhythm. They have tried me on Midodrine which did not help, Bisoprolol:which I had a reaction to (hives, and bp wouldn't come up over 90, fatigue, etc.), Atenolol which they keep adjusting because while it'll bring my heart rate normal for a little while, I tach right back up...
Avatar n tn My symptoms were sweating very tired and pains radiating into jaw upon exertion. All stress and other tests showed normal and the need for stent was determined by the angiogram. When I came home from the hospital I felt pretty fair but soon began having chest and arm pain and when walking in my back near shoulder blades and up into jaw. Then had to have the stent reopened and another placed adjacent to it, this time using brachy therapy or radiation.
Avatar n tn I was going to be put on a month long Holter, but was not. I am on Toprol XL and Diovan. I am told I have COPD and ashtma. Could this be why my heartrate goes so high?
Avatar n tn he suffers from shortness of breath, pain in left arm and neck, pressure in his chest, sweating upon the slightest exertion. sleeps excessively. can anyone help us? his color turns white/gray when he is having a spasm attack. the drs say he is on the maximum medication and nothing can be done for him. he uses nitro spray many times throughout the day. list of meds: 1. nitro spray 4.0 2. ten mg norvasc in morning 3.
Avatar n tn Is it normal to get lightheaded on this medicine? Also, I am on Toprol XL for mild HBP and for the PVC's which had my heart rate pretty consistently around 60-70bpm at rest. Since I started the paxil, it is now averaging in the 50's at rest. I do work out just about everyday with a 2 mile run/walk so I am in fairly good shape 6' 175lbs 31y/o. I too have felt very tired since going on the paxil as well.
Avatar f tn I take Toprol XL 200 mgs. and Altace 20mgs. and have for many years however recently I have experienced an increase in blood pressure. I have lost some weight and continue to diet as well as exercise. My doctor has tried two calcium channel blockers with the results that I become very ill and unable to continue these medications. Any suggestions?
746058 tn?1248348265 I actually take the same beta blocker you've been prescribed, and at the same dosage. Toprol XL 25mg 2x daily. As for the fainting, I might recommend going to emergency for the first couple of episodes. At least until they've been absolutely determined to be autonomic in origin. After that point, it's up to you and those around you to use their best digression.
Avatar n tn Don't think I have acrocyanosis as I do have the red, white, and blue color phases, don't have the sweating, do have numbness and sometimes pain. While my hands and feet are persistently cold they are not persistently blue, just blue more often than used to be. My feet are blue (actually purple) when sitting or standing in one place, the capilary refill is very sluggish. I never thought that beta - blockers were a good choice for me but all the doctors told me not to worry about it.
Avatar f tn crushing pain in center of my chest (like an elephant standing on me), pain in my left neck and jaw, pounding in left armpit and down inner part of upper arm, nauseous, dizzy, sweating, and pounding in both of my upper thighs (high near groin on front). Pain = 10. Lasted about 20 minutes and then stopped. Since that day, I've had about 6 other episodes similar symptoms each time with pain from 4-9. Typically occur when sitting or wakes me up early in the morning.
687079 tn?1230952212 I have the ringing in the ears, dizziness , sweating and so on. I am just exhausted hoping and wanting to feel normal.
Avatar n tn I started seeing a psychologist and they have ruled out panic disorder. I take Toprol XL 25 mg. twice daily and Lopressor 25mg and Ativan .50 mg when I'm having an episode. I had 20 year history of sinus tachycardia (for which I had learned to live with) prior to October, My new diagnosis is supraventricular tachycardia and atrial tachycardia. I understand the tachycardia, but wonder if the chills and dizziness are part the phenomena?
Avatar f tn * Toprol XL 25mg 1/2 a pill daily PO (since 6/14/08) *Ambien 10mg 1/2 a pill at night for 1 week. (I haven't started it yet since I am afraid to die in my sleep, I live by myself with my 3 year old daughter and have this fear that i won't wake up) What do I have and how can i naturally alleviate some of the symptoms? Is there a way to cure hyperthyroid naturally? Do I have Hashimoto's disease because of they hives? Somedays I feel so terrible that I can't even pick up my daughter.
Avatar n tn I was traking Toprol xl and switched to Atenenol, both 25mg. I was on them for 2 months. My Dr. took me off of them cold turkey. After the second night off of them I woke up sweating, shaking, feeling jittery and anxious. I felt like I was going through withdrawl. I think everyone is different. If it is the meds. you should feel better soon. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thanks for replying. Is Tacyachardia a definition for palpitations or rapid heart rate or both? Is the Inderal for heart racing? or for palpitations? .BP? . Does the inderal keep your heart rate down but keeps your BP normal? Why didn't the beta blockers work for you?
Avatar f tn The doctor says everything looks O.K. but gave me a prescription for Toprol XL and Crestor. I have not purchased these medications and do not plan to do so. I am not ready or willing to deal with possible side effects of these drugs and would like to try diet and exercise to bring the Cholesterol in line first. Blood test shows some borderline high cholesterol, LDL 130, HDL 54, Triglycerides 72. B/P is 112 over 65. The calcium scan test rate was 2.
Avatar f tn My doctor is now recommending an EP specialist based off of the results. I currently take 50mg of Toprol XL at night, which doesn't appear to slow things down. The main issue I am having is persistent sweating/exhaustion with minimal exercise or activity. My echocardiogram is fine and nothing else has surfaced. My heart rate during the day ranges from 100-140 bpm. I am very concerned about the cold sweat issue with minimal exertion.
Avatar n tn I am a 42 year old female who is slightly overweight at 155 lbs, has mitral valve prolapse, taking Toprol XL 25 mg daily for heart palpitations, and reactive hypoglycemia ( dropped to 64 at 4th hour of 5 hour glucose tolerance test). Over the past three years I have gained approximately 20 lbs and I have a HIGH stress job (self-employed). Up until recently I would consume about 3 beers when our family grilled out on the weekend.
383138 tn?1314171373 But now in the past month along with the chronic fatigue and pain from the lyme I have been having bad episodes of my heartbeat pounding fast, feeling faint, feeling pressure in chest and sweating, it will even wake me up at night and usually happens while laying down. These episodes can last from 10 minutes to hours with breaks in between. What really concerns me is that I also sometimes get that intense quivering feeling like my heart is spasming for a few seconds (very intense and scary!
Avatar f tn I was on avalide, toprol xl, procardia xl along with the norpace and had to take potassium because it would go too low for the norpace. I have not been able to take avalide since the episode and am now on Avapro which works bettermost of the time than using avalide. None of this makes sense to me or to my doctors since I should be back where this all began the middle of March when I took this antibiotic and had this episode.
Avatar f tn Thanks btw, even if you have a non-functioning phemomycotoma, why should you not be on a beta blocker. I was on toprol XL and because I have this adrenal gland tumor, they switched me to a calcium channel blocker. Why is that?
Avatar f tn I went to my cadio who told me to cut the Toprol in half and take that twice a day along with the same Norpace dosage. Everything went along well for about a year and it started again. The Toprol was then cut to 1/4 a day and taken twice a day. That went along fine for quite a while when it started again. The Toprol was stopped and I was on only the Norpace 150 twice a day. That was OK for quite awhile until my heart started slowing down again last month.
Avatar n tn My new doc gave me lexapro and after taking that and toprol XL I developed more pac/pvc and even started having arrythmia during exercise. Long story short, I am now off Lexapro, have ongoing anxiety (worse than before Lexapro, never really had anxiety before lexapro) and my arrythmia has been diagnosed as Atrial Fib once my heart rate hits 150+. I can't say if Lexapro caused my problems, but one of the side affects of Lexapro is palpitations (which are actually PAC or PVC's.).
616450 tn?1228437227 I've been taking Toprol XL for two years to control tachacardia. I am just now weening off of it. Today is supposed to be my last day to take half a pill. I'm a little nervous about stopping it because my heart has been bothering me lately. I may keep taking half a pill a few more weeks. I get the impression that even though they are both beta blockers, Atenolol and Toprol are not exactly the same drug.
