My blood pressure is fine so is the heart beat.Have high chlorestol, runs in the family, had quad by-passes 21 yrs ago, am on zocor 80 grams a day.
Avatar n tn Within 3 day, I began coughing terribly, and spitting up clear mucus. On 2-21, the doctor took me off Toprol and prescribed Cardizem to clear up my coughing. I felt and sounded as if I have a bad case of Bronchitis. I will never take this medicine again.
6887703 tn?1385792954 I'm 63 and have been on beta blockers for nearly 30 years; Toprol XL 100 mg BID for about 9 years and on 200 mg BID for about 8 months. More than a week ago I requested my pharmacy contact my PC doc to refill my Rx. Two days ago I called my PC's office and still nothing. I had cut my dose to 1/2 about 4 days ago and took my last 100 mg. this morning.
Avatar n tn I have SVT or a rapid heart rate with preg and was on Lopressor since 18 weeks, but it was not working. So, I saw a new card and he changed me to Toprol-XL 200mg yesterday. I am now 31 weeks. Just nervous. My OB is watching my baby's growth b/c of the beta blockers...any other concerns I need to know about?
Avatar n tn i started taking toprol xl for chronich pac/pvc a couple monthes ago and everything was fine. but now i starting to get them again, also alot of hard beats and i'm tired all the time and have to fall asleep for acouple hours during the day, has anyone else gotten this on toprol?
Avatar n tn This is not typical of an allergic problem, but is typical of chronic bronchitis. This may have been aggravated by an infection which is not present now. I would suggest seeing your physician and getting some further tests, including a chest x-ray to make sure there is no other problem going on.
Avatar n tn Are those of you with fatigue talking about Toprol or Toprol XL? Toprol is the same as lopressor and metoprolol. The XL type is a long-release version.
Avatar m tn I am a 34 year old male, i am overweight and on Toprol XL, Synthroid for Hypothyroid condition, Zoloft, Benzapril, and take a baby aspirin each day. For the last couple of weeks I have noticed that I have been having these episodes where my heart will take long and hard beats, it almost feels as though my heart is gurgling at the end of each beat.
Avatar f tn THIS WEB SITE GIVES YOU A CHANCE TO READ ALL ABOUT YOUR MEDS AND IS FULL OF INFORMATION,I AM ON TOPROL XL AND I DO KNOW THAT SMOKERS OR COPD PT CAN COUGH ALOT ON THIS MED,BUT IF YOUR DR PERSCRIBES THIS MED I WOULD THINK YOU NEED THIS MEDICATION
Avatar n tn I was on 10 of prinivil and it was cut back because of cough. Also have rapid heartbeat and experience fluttering. Do not sleep well at all. Does anyone else have these problems? I would feel grateful for any help. Thank You!
Avatar m tn Are you taking metoprolol?... metoprolol does that to me..have to take toprol xl instead.. dunno just wondered...
Avatar n tn My beta blocker, Toprol XL has been very helpful too. I would recommend that you ask your doc about meds. Even though the beta blocker doesn't prevent my episodes, it does lessen their severity and duration. That makes me feel like I finally have some control (and that's invaluable!). Take care and good luck!
Avatar n tn I can tell you that after you have been checked out and told it is normal, then it comes down to anxiety. What happens is you feel that awful thump, pause, cough and then you become scared and pump the adrenaline and all goes down hill. We are choosing not to believe that something is NOT wrong. We think we know more than the dr/s and in fact we don't. I know this is harsh but I have lived this day in and day out. If he could only feel this, i'd say to myself, something has to be wrong.
Avatar f tn I just switched to the Generic for Coreg in Dec 2007, and had severe Edema about 2 weeks ago, so they put me back on Toprol and upped my HCTZ to get the water/edema off, its slowly going down. Now, I wore a pulse oximeter and they said I didn't have any Events (indicating sleep apnea) but my O2 levels drop below 88 for a long while during sleep. My heart Dr. just ordered 2L of O2 at night time only. Any suggestions for me as to what other test I should be seeking.
Avatar f tn I have been on Benicar 20 and Toprol 50 for 3 years. Recentley I have been experiencing severe neck muscle pain, fatigue, weight gain, cough and arthritis type symptoms. I have been told that my BP meds could be causing this. Is this something that is common with BP meds. I am also on Effexor and occasionaly Trazadone. Please help.
Avatar m tn 2 weeks ago while on vacation I became rundown, suffered from nausea, fatigue, cough and starting feeling sick. Returned home 5 days ago and took my pulse and bp. Pulse was in the low to mid 40's at rest and b/p was in the 90-55 range. Went to ER at that point and was instructed to stop Toprol XL and ECG, bloodwork, xrays all check out normal. They documented the low pulse that ranged from 43-52 over a few hours. Have been off Toprol for 72 hours, and had a eco and ekg done today.
Avatar n tn I tried the toprol xl and that is when the 26 beat reared its ugly head so no more for me. Do you have the ecg strip of your 13 beat run? I would love to compare the two.
Avatar n tn lasix 40 mg morning 20 nightly 6. glucotrol xl 10 mg er tab morning and evening 7. atenolol 50 mg morning 8. zoloft 25 mg morning and evening 9. temazepam prn 10.
Avatar n tn Ive been on beta-blockers since 99,, the first kind I was on I was having what the docs called breakthrough symptoms (lightheadness and dizzy). The docs I see now put me on Toprol XL,, 2x a day, been on this for over a year now and not much in symptoms,, but I do have them but not as often. My EP doc said when I start getting symptoms to call him and they will put me in the hospital and put me on antiarryhthmia drugs, then next step will be the ablation.
Avatar n tn He had also had bronchitis in November and had never really gotten over it and still had a presistent cough, on chest ct they saw some infilitrates and placed him on levequin for 7 days, the MD also placed him on Toprol XL 25mg daily. Informed us that at this time a cardiac cath was not needed. I just want to know what your inpression is. Also during the exercise part of the test, the MD was present and stated that that part was normal.
Avatar n tn I have had chest pains, shortness of breath and a dry cough for 2 months now. I can barely get through my exercise routine without gasping for air. In April 2008, I had similiar symptoms and had a stress echo which was "mildly abnormal". The cardiologist listened to my heart and told me that I had a "pronounced click" indicating mitral valve proplapse, and put me on 25mg Toprol XL twice a day, which seemed to take care of all the symptoms. Now all the symptoms are back.
Avatar n tn He said a tilt table test would diagnose it but there was really no point as they already had me on a beta blocker (Toprol XL) which is the treatment for POTS. I also have these episodes where my heart feels out of rhythm. It is definitely not skipping but beating rapidly and just oddly. It has a very rapid onset and offset (maybe 10 seconds from start to finish). These episodes have occured maybe 4-5 times this year. During the episodes, I feel weak, breathless and like I might faint.
Avatar f tn yeah i have thoses have had them for years not a worry, try relax or it will make them worse. i take atenolol , well did they changed it today now on toprol xl first day so hoping it gets mine under control but when i first started having them when i was 23 now 47 and i can say am still here , they are hard to deal with somethings mines been 7 weeks now a lot everyday but just trying to get through it .
Avatar n tn Not as fast, about 130s - 140s. I was put on Toprol XL 50mg. Dropped my heart rate and BP and made me dizzy. 25mg next with the same results. I continued taking the Toprol XL 25mg but still had breakthrough tach with dizziness. Went to another Cardiologist. Stopped the Toprol cold turkey. Started me on Dig 0.25 qd. The next 24 hours were terrible. I've been on the dig for a month now.

I'm real scared. What should be done now. Thanks. Follow Ups: Re: Cardiomegaly and pulmonary vascular prominence !! Real Scared?? Prognosis?? Avatar f tn This came back normal as well. I am currently taking Toprol XL 50 mg, 25 in the am and 25 in the evening. Recently, the past month or so, I have been experiencing shortness of breath/feeling like I'm not getting enought air. I have been to the doctor at my University, who didn't hear any wheezing or anything she seemed concerned about when she listened to my chest. My questions are 1) Could this shortness of breath be a side effect of the Toprol?
Avatar n tn Most the time im out of breath just doing nothing and I get dizzy.......and disorent..Can anyone tell me what this could be and why my blood pressure goes up so high.....I had it checked on Friday and it was 153 over 110 and this is high for me because about five years ago it used to be low.....110 over 70 and cant figure this out.....and this is bothering me everyday now...Please if anyone can help and tell me what else can I do without having to take more invasive test........
Avatar n tn I also get a little light headed I have had so many tests done and no doctor seems to find anything seriously wrong. I do take toprol xl for high blood pressure and clonazipam for anxiety. I'm so tired of feeling sick.
Avatar n tn The problem I have is that my heart will miss a beat and I would have to cough so I could breathe again. When this happens I feel like the blood is rushing to my head from my chest up and I feel real faint and then I get real tired. I have went to the doctor about it and he says that I have mvp and that I will just have to live with it. But here latly it just seems to be getting worse. I feel dizzy and lighthead and real tired. I'm really scared. What do you think I should do?
