So for example I was taking 100mg a day of Topiramate (1 pill 25mg in morning and 2 25mg pills at night). But with Trokendi I took 100mg (because they don' have a 75mg pill) at night and I was wiped out. So they do have a 25mg pill and I take 3 of those at night. then I was ok. There is a discount card by the company too. Insurance has a copay. Otherwise, Trokendi is very expensive while Topiramate is generic and cheap. I hope this works for you.

s what you meant, would be a tiny piece of that 25mg tab because .5mg is 1/2 of 1mg. If you meant 5mgs, well then, that would be 1/5th of the 25mg tab. I don't know any Doctor that would tell you to break a pill like that.

Hi...this is not really all that new, and it is the generic of TOPAMAX...this can take 2 weeks to adjust to....so u may feel extremely tired and off balance with this.... I did lose weight, and not sure how it works, but I gained it all back and I am still on the med....so it is not a weight loss miracle. I have noticed a change in taste as well as smells...so I know that did affect what I eat.... Good luck and again be advised most do need an adjustment period to this med.

My 15 year old daughter was started on topiramate for migraines, 25mg at bedtime. I would split the pills in quarters, taking three quarters a day for 5 days. Then take 1/2 tab for 5 days. Then take 1/4 tab for five days. Then I would take 1/4 every other day and then every third day and so on...

You need to track the triggers for these episodic headaches. Trial of prophylactic drugs like propranolol or topiramate, treatment of episodes with triptans etc would be advised. Keep a tab of your headache triggers. Hope this helps. Take care.

ok ok , I started topiramate for 2 moths now, the first month the cravings was less, and after a month the doc, change the dosage, now I'm on 50 twice a day, I don't think its working. I haven't lost any weight, does this meds take time?? Should I been seeing result ? am I wasting my time? I really haven't been experiencing the side effects, little bit at first, but nothing to cry about. If anybody have any advice please any is helpful!

I am currently on Keppra and Topiramate and have just been told my latest tests are showing major kidney damage from the topiramate. I have been on these two meds since 2002. I have to admit, reading all this is very scary. NO Other Meds have worked to control my seizures ! PERIOD!! Plus I have severe Migraines and Short term memory is almost gone in a matter of seconds.
